Making More Connections
Who: Neely and Catherine
Where: Avarice
When: Sunday Night, 11/7
Brandon had to spend some time in the studio tonight, so Catherine decided to go out and hang out at Avarice. After thinking about it a bit, she actually put in a call to Neely and asked if she wanted to hang out. Neely *was* going to be her future sister-in-law after all, the two should totally hang out and be friends, right? So, after sprucing up and getting dress up in a black tube top and short shorts, she drove her car over to Avarice and, after walking inside and getting herself a drink from the bar, started to look around for Neely.
Ah, the best thing about living above a club was it didn't actually take that much effort to get there. And you could take your time getting ready. Not that Neely really did take much time, mind you. Dressed in a tummy-bearing tank-top and ripped denim jeans, Neely made her way downstairs, a little surprised by the invite, but pleasantly so. Maybe Catherine and Neely did need to hang out more, hm? She smiled when she spotted the other girl and waved before making her way over.
Catherine would have made fun of her if she was late, so good for her that she wasn't. The two of them ended up settling at one of the small tables, because sitting at the bar just tends to INVITE ugly men to hit on you some nights. "So, Neely, how have you been doing lately?" Catherine asked her, taking a sip of her drink.
"I've been doing fine and dandy," Neely replied with a lopsided smirk, giving Catherine a subconscious once-over. "What about your gorgeous self?"
"Just the usual, really. Killing evil guys and doing indecent things with your brother," Catherine said with a grin. Ain't we glad that Catherine's developed the ability to get playful with people and not be quite so stodgy with people she didn't know as well?
"Well, there's one thing that I didn't need to know," Neely chuckled, frowning lightly as she tried to banish any kind of image of her brother with Catherine from her thoughts.
Catherine just giggled. "Well, I imagine you spend much of your time the same way, just with your wife," she added. "Shall I pass the brain bleach, though?"
"Just a little this time, and I only need it because I'm related to him. You could have said you'd had sex with a goat and I wouldn't have minded so much." Oh, dear god...
Catherine rolled her eyes. "So, I could be into bestiality and it would be OK with you, but me enjoying the company of your brother grosses you out?" How interesting.
"I know. I'm weird. Leave me alone," Neely replied, actually POUTING then. "So what occasions the visit? Not that I'm not... glad to see you." God, looks like it was Neely who was the socially retarded one for a change. Nice.
Catherine smirked. "Figured I should get to know the woman who is going to be my sister-in-law one day," she pointed out. "Brandon's also out doing studio work, and I didn't want to sit at home."
"Sounds reasonable," Neely chuckled. "And there's not much to know, except that I have SERIOUSLY good taste in women." She smirked. "I could stand to know a little bit more about you, though."
"So I've seen," Catherine said playfully about Neely's taste in women. "I'm sure there's more to you than that, though. How's your job at Full Moon Records going?"
"Really kickin' ass," Neely replied. "I never really saw myself in a real adult job and liking it, y'know?" My, was this a sign that Neely was growing up?
"Ben has set me up with studio time now, too," Catherine said with a laugh. "He heard me singing to myself at the Hyperion and nearly had a fit over me." It had been very amusing.
"I didn't know that you could sing," Neely replied with a surprised laugh.
"Honestly, I wasn't aware of it, either," Catherine admitted. "Even Kim joked that she got her musical talent from her father, not me." Catherine had thought it was a little weird that she seemed to almost magically exhibit the ability to sing, but just chalked it up to being around Brandon so much that she finally figured out how to carry a tune.
Neely giggled. "Well, I'm definitely going to have to come into the studio and hear you sometime. I think it'd be a blast." She meant that, too. It was nice to think that she and Catherine had something in common that wasn't her brother.
"I've actually been writing my own stuff, too, so I won't even be one of those pop singers who gets the song the day of the recording, either," Catherine joked. It actually was kind of nice that they'd have something in common and a place to run into one another now, wasn't it?
"That, I approve of entirely," Neely replied. Hell, Neely had done some songwriting herself. Of course, she did it more for personal reasons rather than for any career aspirations. "And it's definitely settled. I'll come by one day with overly sugared treats and we'll go wild."
Catherine's sudden writing ability had just come when she was writing in her personal/Slayer journal one day. Yes, she kept a Slayer journal. What of it? "That sounds like it shall be a blast then."
Neely squee'd and took Catherine's hand. "Awesomesauce. For now, though? We dance!"
Catherine let her take her hand and stood up from the chair. "Dancing sounds great," she said with a smile.
