Meeting New People
Who: Eve and Rozenwyn
Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: Nov. 8th, Evening
After her shift at Saints & Sinners, Eve decided that, since she wasn't tired (as a succubus, she needed far less sleep than humans), she would go to Chloe's Sugar Shack for some coffee. Well, the sugar confections that they claimed had coffee in them, anyway. Because it was kind of on the late side, there was only one person behind the counter, but Eve was able to get her coffee quickly and be done with it. The place had a fifties diner feel to it, even with a bar and stools to one side like a pseudo-counter, but Eve was certain that the uniforms were much shorter than anything seen in the original 1950s, even if they were still made up to look like diner waitress outfits. Eve sat down at a table in the corner with her coffee, content to sip at it until she felt the need to go home.
Rozenwyn knew Anadis was busy tonight, she was off having her fun. Rozi didn't tend to get as much enjoyment out of the games Anadis played so she often didn't go with, unless she was worried Anadis would have another episode. But tonight, she had a couple of her Ravens with her, so she was safe. A human would get tired of having body guards, but it was the way of their lives. Both girls were the only princesses left in the Unseelie Court and one was to be queen someday. Roz walked up to the counter as she looked at the menu. She ordered her peppermint mocha and paid, waiting for the drink. She had a slight glamour up, her tri-colored topaz and chocolate eyes were a deep chocolate. She found humans often asked questions with the tri-color that wasn't found in any species other than the Sidhe. She picked up her drink and gave a slight nod, she was young enough to thank, but she was raised by the old ones and they never said their thank yous. She looked around and walked toward an empty table. She could feel the energy of another being, but she had no idea what it was, only that it wasn't like her. She looked at her guards, they hung back and she sat, knowing she would be perfectly safe. When in doubt, she had her own power.
While a chill would be the wrong word to describe what Eve felt when Rozenwyn came in, she certainly felt a shift in the air. She glanced up from her coffee and looked toward the fae for a moment. Her type wasn't known for walking around with humanity very often, so, even with the glamour, she caught Eve's attention easily. Of course, she also knew not to stare too long, so, after a few moments, she went back to her coffee.
Roz felt the weight of the others glance and though she had not watched for long, Roz was not offended. She was not trying to be beautiful tonight, though she was. Her kind was naturally beautiful she wasn't going out of her way to be more attractive, so the other woman not starring wasn't offending. Her kind wasn't one to ask personal questions, even the six months out among the humans hadn't broken her of that. She took a sip of her drink and glanced over, "Do you wish to dine alone? You can sit here if you'd prefer it," she offered. She was more civil than her cousin, nicer.
Eve nodded when the other woman spoke to her, gathering her coffee and coming over to her. She could also feel the presence of the guards nearby as well. Very interesting. "A bit late to be getting coffee, or are you a bit of a night owl as well?" As good of a conversation starter as any.
She waited for the woman to come over and shrugged slightly, "I prefer the night," she wasn't one to over share, none of them were really. Anadis sometimes would when she began to get into her moods, but that was more her telling her play thing what she'd be doing to it. Roz tended to answer what was asked.
Eve nodded again. "Me, too. More suiting, I think," she added with a playful smile, before taking another sip of her coffee. She knew that fae didn't talk about themselves too much, so she didn't feel the need to try and ask her too many questions or fill the air with babble, either.
Roz took another drink from her mug and looked through the window for a moment. She didn't have the ability her cousin did, to hear through the dark. She wished she did, she wished she had her Aunts ability with air as well, that would be useful. She looked back to the girl, "Have you had a good evening?"
"I have," Eve answered. "I have a job that I love and fits me perfectly." A succubus being a stripper was almost perfect. The only better thing was being a hooker, but that was illegal in LA. Maybe in Vegas, though..."How has your evening been?"
"That is good, so many here waste their lives away in jobs they loathe," she had seen it each time she and Anadis came into the world of the humans. Though time ran so differently, she had watched them waste away in jobs they wished they never had. She was glad their world was not the same. "It has been wonderful."
"I am one of the lucky ones in that respect," Eve pointed out to her. "I found a job in Los Angeles that fits my...attributes perfectly," she said with a smile. "It is good that your evening has wonderful. Enjoying your coffee?"
"It does sound as though you are," she agreed with the woman sitting across from her. "A large enough city, everyone should be so fortunate," she looked at her drink and gave a nod, "yes I am. One of my indulgences."
"It would make for a much more happy population if as many people were happy with their jobs as I am," Eve said with a small smile. "If you like coffee, you should make sure to come to this place more often. They bring in new things all the time." She took another sip of her own coffee. "Nighttime is a better time to come, though. Too many people during the day, and the owners are a bit...hyper for my taste."
"I am sure they would be," she wasn't too worried about the mass human population. They didn't bother her and her kind, she ignored them mostly, except when she was out with them because Anadis wanted a new pet. She really did hope her cousin would get a new pet and they could go home, but she didn't see that happening anytime soon. "I will have to remember that. While I am here, I will make a point to come in more often." She had no idea how long they were staying and frankly, she might go home now and then just to get back to the Sithen, she missed it.
"Well, I hope that you enjoy your visit to LA while you are here," Eve said to her. It was a little amazing to see a fae out like this, mainly because seeing one was sort of like finding a four leaf clover: rare. This had definitely been an interesting night.
"My visit is not nearly as entertaining as my cousin's" she said simply. She wouldn't be having nearly the fun Anadis would and that was simply because her flavor of fun did not match her cousins. She liked the blood and the pain, but she didn't do much for all out torture. She didn't enjoy inflicting it, so she often just ignored her cousin when she was going off to play.
"As long as it works for you, that is what's important, right?" Eve suggested, studying Roz for a moment. The woman was certainly interesting past her species. Eve found her very intriguing.
"Ones own needs are always important," she said in her own form of agreement. She took another sip of her coffee and looked at the woman, "What is your name?" she was curious and that was never a bad curiosity to fill.
"I'm Eve," Eve said, giving the woman a slight bow of her head. The irony of being named Eve after the first woman of the bible had not been lost on her when she picked it. Eve had been portrayed as a tempter, after all, and that's exactly what Eve the succubus was. "What is your name?"
"Rozenwyn," she said to Eve. She didn't tend to offer up someone to shorten it, but she found people who lives out among the humans often would and she rarely minded. Depending on what it was shortened to, anyway. She could tell the woman wasn't human, but it would be rude of her to ask what she was, so she didn't.
If she had asked, Eve would have told her in a straight answer. She certainly didn't mind what she was, and never saw a real reason to hide it, either. It wasn't like she was some succubusses and sneaking into windows and deflowering young boys, after all. She found an honest way of feeding. Well, most honest than most. "That's a beautiful name," she said.
Roz gave a slight bow of her head in thanks. She looked at the woman, "Eve is a lovely name as well," she wouldn't lie, it wasn't in her kind to do such a thing. They were a being who still feared their Goddess, respected her and new that unlike so many here who did not believe their God was real, her kind knew theirs was.
"Eve was a name that was somewhat fitting for me, so I took it," Eve said to her. "It's hard for humans to pronounce my true name, so I picked one that would be easy on their tongue and their memories." Her name had too many consonants for at least American humans to handle well. If she were in Poland or Russia, it may be different.
"I see," she was being told the girl was not human, but again she would not simply ask. Sometimes, being human was so much simpler than being what she was. But for over two and a half centuries she had been this and knew no real difference. She was who she was and she was alright with it. "Most have trouble with my own, only if it is not said first."
The lovely thing about LA was that there was little need to hide your true self here. So many people were much more understanding and in the know about these things here. "At least they seem to understand it better when you say it, though."
"They do indeed," she said with a nod as she finished off her drink. They were not supposed to reveal themselves to the humans, unless they planned to keep the human. It was their King's rule and his rule was law. She followed well, after a week in the Hall she refused to ever go back. But this wasn't a human so if she asked, or knew, well that was different.
Asking someone *what* they were was a little rude, so Eve wouldn't go that far to do so. She could feel that the woman was some kind of fae, but there were so many varieties that she couldn't put forth a guess. She finished off her own drink as well. "Well, it's been lovely meeting you, Rozenwyn. I hope that we get to meet again soon."
Roz caught the movement of one of her guards and then looked back at Eve, "A pleasure," she agreed and moved to stand. "I am sure we will, as large as Los Angeles is, it is not so much that we cannot once more run into each other here. But for now, I must be off, enjoy the rest of your night."
