Not a Good Day
Who: Gunn and Maddie
Where: Maddie's Apartment
When: Nov. 6th, Evening
On the drive over, Gunn worried. Maddie had been off the last couple of days, and it freaked him out a little. They had made suedo-plans to hang out together on Halloween night, since it was a night that even HE didn't have to think about vampires running around (they didn't seem to like Halloween...weird), but she had never gotten in touch with him. He had just figured she had gotten wrapped up with friends, but with how she was acting, now he wasn't so sure. It freaked him out.
Once he pulled up to her place, he parked the truck and headed to her door. He knocked on it, calling out, "It's me, Maddie."
Maddie hadn't been right since her escapades on Halloween night. She knew that she'd have to fess up to Gunn, that it was the right thing to do, but she worried by doing so that he'd leave her (and rightfully so). She answered the door almost as soon as he knocked, her hair freshly dyed a dark brown and dressed in sweats and less-than-flattering tanktop. She was a wreck over this, clearly. She'd even gone as far as to send Fred out with her cousin, Raph, so she could... tell Gunn what had happened. "...Hi."
He didn't hear Fred chattering in the back about something completely incomprehensible unless you had a degree in physics, so he assumed that either Maddie had gotten frustrated with Fred writing on the walls and locked her in a closet and gagged her, or had sent her out. "Hi," he said. "Something happened, didn't it?" Sometimes things were just painfully obvious.
"Something did, yeah," she stepped aside to allow him inside. "I don't... think you'll like it. I felt physically ill after, myself."
He walked inside and waited for her to shut the door behind him. When she said what she said, he groaned. "Fuck...I kind of had the feeling you'd say something like that." Oh yeah, he was pretty sure he knew where this was going.
"I'm sorry... half the things that come out of my mouth are blunt, and now isn't going to be any different." She hugged herself awkwardly, feeling like the world's shittiest girlfriend right now. "Halloween night, I got stupidly drunk and slept--had sex with a lesbian couple that I know."
Gunn signed, looking away and unconsciously balling his hands into fists. He was actually having to stop himself from punching the wall in frustration right now. "So...is there a reason you did that or was it just a Halloween fuck around?" OK, not the best way to talk things out. He was frustrated, OK?
She glanced down at his hands... but, violence never seemed to bother her. Hell, she doubted she would react any differently if the situation was reversed. "I wanted it," she admitted, "for a VERY long time, but I was horny and not thinking straight and I prayed to GOD that I didn't make that mistake, because I knew how much it was going to hurt you." She looked down and wiped at her eyes, "Please, please say something."
He took a deep breath and slowly let it out, forcing himself to unclench his hands and try to calm down. Loosing his shit wasn't going to do anything. "I'm not sure what you want me to say, Maddie," he admitted. "No worries? This ain't something I've had happened to me before. I'm kind of at a loss."
"No, I guess it hasn't happened to you before," she murmured, figuring he was so beautiful who would cheat on him? Well her, obviously, but moving on... "Please, just. Tell me I can fix this. I want to fix this," she pleaded.
"Fuck," he said softly, taking a second to think about it. "If you really want to fix it, then I'm willing to at least give it a shot then." He didn't want her to hang around if she was going to fuck someone every time she got the urge. He got urges a lot, too! If she was willing to put some restraint on it...then maybe they could work.
"I really want to fix it," she tired to assure him, actually going so far as to cup his cheeks and look him in the eyes to show that she was serious here. The fact that her eyes were puffy went a long way to show that. "I will do anything you want. Anything."
He reached up and held her hands. "Look, I want to fix things, too. I love you, Maddie." Might as well admit shit while we're at it. Maybe making this serious would help from this happening again, hmm?
She exhaled slowly and nodded. She hadn't exactly heard those words often in her life... "I love you, too. So SO much." She tried to keep her lower lip from trembling. "Tell me what I can do."
"Look...I'll have to think on that," he admitted. "And...I'm not going to go as far as say never hang with your lesbian friends again...but maybe getting shit faced with them isn't a good idea if you're so attracted to them." He had a point.
She nodded. It was a good point. "I won't drink with them, or near them again," she promised. "Only time I'll do it from now on is either with you at Silky's, or at family gatherings where I can make a complete ass of myself." It was a weak attempt at a joke.
He gave her a slight smile for the effort. "Then it's a start," he said to her with a nod.
