An Ordinary Day
Who: Macha and Kirsten
Where: School Cafeteria
When: Thursday, November 4th - Afternoon
After dumping her books in her locker, Macha headed for the lunchroom hoping they'd be serving something halfway edible. Which most of the time the cooks there didn't. Something that drove the brunette off campus to lunch at her folks diner. Standing impatiently in line Macha gave a bored glance around as she waited to move up to actually see what the offerings that day were. Nothing smelled appetizing to the she wolf, but that didn't mean lunch would look as bad as it smelled.
Kirsten, of course, liked to think that she was smart by bringing bagged lunches. At least then she knew what to expect. She grinned when she spotted Macha in line and bounded over to give her a hip-check. Sigh. Someone had gone to the Sugar Shack this morning. "Come on, Macha. I wanna see a smile."
"Kirsten Locke!" Macha growled through clenched teeth when the blonde purposely bumped her. "Hipping me like that is going to get you anything but a smile." Of course her words were meaningless as a smile did in fact tug at the edges of her mouth.
Ahh, did Kirsten grin smugly then. "Come on, like you can resist ANYTHING I say or do. You can share my lunch, if you want. At least then you can stop scowling at the lunch ladies. Or... well, people in general."
"If I have your lunch, then what are you going to eat?" Macha turned more directly to her bestest friend ever with a light sniff at the air to see just what Kirsten had packed up in her bagged lunch.
"I said SHARE, not eat all of it," Kirsten replied with a laugh, thwacking Macha in the arm for good measure. She had healthy stuff, of course, and... unhealthy stuff, in the form of chocolates, but being werewolves, it was no stretch that she also had layers of meat on her sandwiches.
"Oww." Macha said with a mock frown giving a gentle rub to her injured limb. "Fine, then, we'll share." Macha relented as what Kir had packed away for lunch smelled infinitely better then what the lunch ladies were serving that day.
Kirsten just gave that infectious grin again and took Macha's hand, leading her over to a spare table in the lunch room that they could sit at. She pushed her lunch bag over to Macha, letting her, as always, pick what she wanted to eat first. "Sorry. 'mall hyper today," she admitted.
"You really need to cut down on your sugar intake." The brunette voice with a slight shake of her head. Macha then reached for the bag and opened it to remove the meat sandwich her friend had brought for lunch. After unwrapping it, Macha tore it in half. Keeping one half for herself she then offered the other to Kir.
"Pfft, like I could," Kirsten replied, just being honest there before accepting the half-sandwich with a 'cheers'. Ah, it seems one never breaks out of the habit of Aussie lingo, huh? "Maybe you should up yours. Then we can by hyper together."
"Both of us being hyper would be the ruination of L.A." Macha said before taking a bite of her half sandwich. The last thing she needed was to up her intake of sugar. Kirsten was hyper enough for the both of them in Macha's view.
"Fine," Kirsten sighed over-dramatically before taking a bite of her own sandwich. "One of these days I'm going to corrupt you, you know."
"Haven't you realized it yet, I'm incorruptible." Of course she could say that now with a straight face, but past experiences revealed just the opposite. Kir had a knack for getting Macha to do some things that she tried refusing to do. It was a wonder that the two survived through their friendship this long.
"Uh huh," Kirsten replied, trying to keep a straight face and failing miserably. "I think I'm working you down. Remember that time we snuck into the neighbors pool at three in the morning?"
"I wonder sometimes why I even bother listening to anything you have to say." Macha told her with a grin playing at her lips. And that hadn't even been the worse of the pairs adventures.
"Because you love me?" Kirsten replied with a cute wrinkle of her nose. Finishing her half-sandwich, she reached into her lunch bag and pulled out a Butterfinger.
Macha gave a playful roll of her eyes at that comeback. "You'd like to think so, wouldn't you." The dark haired were smirk quickly snatching the candy bar away from her blond friend. "Sugar free lunch, remember."
"Damn right I would," Kirsten replied quickly, before yelling out: "Oi! I don't remember agreeing to that! Give me back my sugar-y treat! Or I'll... I'll flail wildly!"
"What? This little sugary treat?" Macha grinned antagonizingly while she waved the wrapped candy slowly in front of Kirsten's face. "You know they say a happy Kir is a sedated one."
"A happy Kir is one who gets her sugar! … In more ways than one! So gimme!" She flailed, actually making grabby hands at the candy.
"Fine." The brunette grumbled with a lingering grin letting the blond collect the candy bar within her flailing, grabby hands. Better to appease the blond sugar monster then have her cause a spectacle of both of them. "Got anything else in the lunch bag of yours?" Macha ate a bit more of her portion of Kir's sandwich after she asked.
Kirsten actually giggled then, since she knew that Macha always caved in if she made a spectacle of herself. She unwrapped her beautiful, sugary goodness and took a huge bite, chewing and swallowing before politely replying: "Um, fruit stuffs and nut stuffs. In that order."
Grabbing at the paper bag again, Macha removed the apple it contained and took a nice big bite out of it. "So, Sugar Shack after school?" As if she needed to ask. She knew Kirsten well enough to know that the girl would make a beeline for the place once she stepped off school grounds.
"You know it," Kirsten smirked. They knew each others habits, after all, so it wasn't much of a stretch of the imagination. "Unless you want to try AGAIN to steer me away from my evil evil ways."
"Oh, believe me I will try again to turn you from your evil, evil ways. Just not today as I'm needed to work at the diner tonight." Macha told her sugar addicted friend. "Wanna earn some extra cash?" It wouldn't the first time Kirsten worked at the diner, and most likely wouldn't be the last. Her parents liked and trusted Kir and always seemed to welcome her at the diner whenever the blond wanted to earn some extra cash.
"I'm keen. You know I always love working there." She rolled her eyes thoughtfully and added: "I mean, I get to tease you mercilessly and you have to take it. How often do I get to do that?" She grinned.
"You know what they say. Payback's a bitch." Macha smiled sweetly as she finished what was left of her sandwich. Kir could tease her mercilessly at the diner all she wanted, Macha would have her revenge for it all soon enough.
"Did you just call yourself a bitch?" Kirsten grinned teasingly, nudging Macha's leg under the table. The grin faltered only slightly when she saw Macha's expression: "Payback's gonna be more than a bitch, huh?"
"You are an insufferable brat, you know that." Macha responded with an internal groan. "I swear that your mission in this life is to make mine miserable. That reminds me. Which weekend did you wanna do the camping thing?" The brunette inquired. "Seems my dear brother wants the cabin sometime this month for him and his current bimbette."
Kirsten snorted. "My mission is to make your life INTERESTING and MORE ENJOYABLE." She huffed, but tried to tone it down. She knew she could get overbearing when she'd had too much sugar. "Um, full moon's next weekend, so it'd have to be the weekend after that." It was … actually kind of sad that she knew the cycle of the full moon by heart now.
"You do make it more interesting and enjoyable in that little irritating way of yours." Macha teased back. And it was something she couldn't deny. Life without a Kirsten Locke in it would dull and uninteresting. "Weekend after next it is." Macha agreed with a smile and slight nod of her head.
"Perfect. I'll make sure to remember to bring Smores this time," Kirsten replied, actually blushing. She found it embarrassing that she'd forgotten something that she essentially needed to live. "I'll bring it in abundance, actually."
"Am I the only one who's content with just roasting marshmallows over a campfire?" Macha questioned with a little laugh. Not that she was trying to deter Kirsten from bringing her little snack necessity. Far be it from Macha to deny Kir anything that was fortified with sugar.
"Well, I'll bring those too." She sucked her lower lip between her teeth and nodded sagely. "For now, I think... it's once more into the breach for us."
"God. I can't wait for the end of the school year to come around." Macha replied with a sigh as she stood up from the table prepared to leave and do battle with her next couple of classes.
"It'll come around soon enough," Kirsten replied, bagging up the remains of her lunch and walking over to Macha, giving her a sweet side-hug before walking her off to her next class.
