Who: Delilah and Talia
Where: Ashes to Ashes
When: Wednesday, October 27th – Afternoon
Talia had taken on a little side-project recently, which involved falsifying records for people who... didn't quite exist in this universe. She found it to be fun, and a nice challenge from the tedium of school work (she really WAS too smart for her own good), which was why she went into Ashes to Ashes, looking for Bastian Martin-Bale. The tall blonde had suggested that they meet here to discuss her... current predicament.
Bastian had said that she didn't start until 4, and as always, Talia was a little early. So she contented herself with walking around, perusing the shelves, for the time being, making sure not to touch anything, even though some items were quite fascinating.
Delilah had been doing some work on the books in the back. Tara was still wandering around, but her shift was almost over, so she was sure Tara had already mentally checked out. Delilah didn't blame her. She had been here since they opened. Delilah didn't quite get that luxury, though. She walked up front to see if Bastian had come in yet, and, while she didn't see her, she did see a potential customer.
"Can I help you with anything?" she asked Talia as she came upstairs to the front.
Talia gave a startled little hop when Delilah spoke and almost toppled a few things over. She managed not to break anything, though. Luckily. "N-no, I'm waiting for someone that works here--" she started to say, before stopping abruptly when she finally looked at Delilah's face. She blinked, seeing the spitting image of her mother, but was quick to look away. "I, uh. Bastian. I needed to talk to her about something. I promise not to take too much time..."
Delilah fine. "That's fine, but Bastian hasn't gotten in yet." She noticed the look that Talia had given her, but, otherwise, didn't make much of it. "You're welcome to wait on her, though. She should be in in the next ten minutes or so."
"Thank you," Talia replied, giving Delilah a wavering smile, before catching herself staring. "Sorry," she blushed, looking down again. "I don't mean to stare. You just... you look a lot like my mother."
"It's OK," Delilah said. "Has she...already passed on?" The girl wouldn't stare at her so intently if she was still alive, after all.
"A few years now. Five, actually," she realized. Wow, that was depressing. She shrugged it off, though. "I still remember the smell of her perfume." She smiled sadly. "You have the same facial structure... and eyes, really pretty eyes." How very random of you, Talia.
Delilah gave her a smile. "Thank you," she said to Talia. "I'm Delilah, by the way. I'm actually the owner of this place."
"Oh wow. That's pretty cool," Talia replied with an honest smile. "I'm Talia. Resident nerd."
"I guess you could call me a bit of a magic nerd," Delilah told her. "Even if it isn't quite my forte." At least, unlike Chloe, Delilah had the sense not to mess with it too much.
"I always used to think magic was all about misdirection, everything on television didn't exactly help with those beliefs. But lately I'm starting to understand that real magic? Isn't so easily quantifiable. I wouldn't attempt any magic with a ten foot pole, but I still think it's neat."
"That's what a lot of state magic is," Delilah told her. "Unless you have a real ability toward it, you're better off just reading about it. I can only do simple stuff myself." Delilah's talents lay elsewhere. "It's quite the interesting thing, though."
"I'm more technologically minded," Talia admitted. "Although after meeting Bastian, I have to admit I'm into biology." Did she blush faintly when she said that? Shut up.
Delilah seemed to catch the reference and chuckled. "I could actually see a proper fusion of magic and technology working, if it were done right. A group effort, I think."
"It's been done right," Talia replied, thinking of Bette. "I should clarify and say that something along those lines has worked, although it was more a stroke of luck than actual fusion." If Delilah wanted to know more, she would be sorely disappointed, as it was then that Bastian walked in. Talia gave the other girl a small wave. "Thanks for talking to me," Talia said.
"Not a problem," Delilah said with a smile. "Feel free to stop by any tine you want to talk more."
