Long Day Made Better
Who: Skylar and Helena
Where: Bale Estate
When: Wednesday Afternoon
Skylar had spent much of the morning with her two younger children, Bray and Bella, and the two had worn her completely out, so she had put them both down for an afternoon nap and crashed on the sofa herself. She had two baby monitors set up next to her in case one of them started crying, but, so far, they had both been quiet. She was sure that Helena was somewhere in the house and could take care of them, but she always worried about being something of an absentee mother, so she liked to at least keep an eye on them herself during much of the day. Today they had both worn her out, though. She had taken both of them to the park, and Bella, who was now able to almost run perfectly, was using this to her advantage, basically causing Skylar to chase her from one end of the park to another, all the while keeping Bray on her hip. Talk about fun.
Helena walked through the house and checked on the little ones when she saw that they were sleeping well, she walked into the living room. "Is there anything that I can get for you, Mrs. Bale?" she asked as she stood at the end of the sofa. She was dressed much as she usually was whenever she was working, a pair of simple ballet slipper flats on her feet and a slim fitting sweater dress, that was teal blue in color with a white belt.
Skylar sat up at Helena's voice. "Hmm?" she asked before she put together what Helena had asked. "Oh, I'm fine. Did you check on the children?" She figured that she had, but it never hurts to ask.
She nodded her head. "Yes, Ma'am. They're both still out cold. They must have wore themselves and you out at the park today." she said smiling. "You sure that you don't want anything? I was going to make some tea."
Skylar smiled. "Actually, some tea would be great," she said to Helena. She pulled herself up off the couch and stretched out for a moment before looking back at Helena. "I'll have some of that then."
Helena smiled and nodded her head. "Alright. Would you like sugar or honey in your tea, ma'am?" she asked as she held her hands together behind her back. She was always willing to do anything to keep the couple happy and the children as well.
"Some honey would be great," Skylar said with a smile. She had been feeling a little frazzled today, so some tea with honey would be great for her.
She nodded her head. "I'll be right back, ma'am." she said as she walked to the kitchen and set to making tea for herself and for Skylar. She put just the right amount of honey in the bottom of the tea cups and then poured in the tea, watching as the flower blossom teas steeped in the water. She put the mugs and a plate with cookies onto a tray. She walked into the living room with the tray and sat it down on the coffee table in front of Skylar.
Skylar nodded, and waited for Helena to come back. After a few minutes, she did just that. Skylar had sat back down on the sofa, and had tied her hair back with a hair tie that she had around her wrist so that it was out of her face. She took the cup of tea and took a long sip of it. "Oh, that's good," she said, smiling and shutting her eyes for a moment.
Helena smiled and sat on one of the seats across from the woman. "I'm glad that you like it. I mix it myself." she said nodding her head. She watched her as she looked like she was relaxing. She cared deeply about both the Bales and both of their children.
"Then I must say that you are an excellent mixer of tea," Skylar said with a soft smile across her lips. "What all did you use?"
Helena smiled up over at her. "In this blend, cardamom, cinnamon, dried Ginger, white tea leaves and a small amount of cloves." she said smiling at her. "I am glad that you enjoy it," she said nodding.
"It's delicious," Skylar said to her. "I'm happy to be enjoying it," she added playfully. She took another sip of the tea slowly and enjoyed it for a moment. "So, how has your day been going so far?"
Helena smiled softly. "With the children out with you, it has been mostly uneventful. I managed to get all of the laundry completed and put away as well as dessert. Dinner is ready to be started as well." she said clearly proud that she took care of the family as well as she did.
"Thank you for doing all of that," Skylar said to her. She could tell that the other woman took a lot of pride in her job, so thanking her was the absolute LEAST she could do for Helena doing such a good job with it.
Helena smiled as she looked at her. "It is my pleasure to look after you, the children and Mr. Bale," she said nodding her head softly.
"Doesn't mean that I can't be eternally grateful, which I am," Skylar added with a smirk. She really did just enjoy being around Helena as well.
Helena smiled at Skylar. She loved her job. She adored the children, and it was an added bonus how well she got along with both Ben and Skylar. She felt very lucky to have such a great place to work and great people to work for.
