Why Following a Girl Into a Dark Alley Never Works Well
Who: Angel and India
Where: Outside Avarice
When: Friday Night, 10/22
Angel lingered outside of the club, unsure if he should go inside or not. He was actually somewhat nervous about being in a club filled with so many people. He still wasn't exactly used to being around humans much again. He had gotten to the point that he only dealt with them when he had to. He felt that it was something that was necessary for the safety of others. It was only recently that he had figured out that maybe that wasn't so good of an idea. He wasn't doing any real good just hiding away and pretending that there weren't people all around him. It was one reason why he had been willing to sell the Hyperion to that Watcher, Rupert Giles. He needed to get away from hiding in such a large place. Now all that he knew was that he was supposed to find a Slayer named India Cohen and help her. He wasn't exactly sure how he was supposed to help her. Just that he was supposed to seek her out. Not like anything was ever clear in his life.
India had been patrolling the area for the last few hours, and had decided, upon finishing, to pop into Avarice for a few to say hello to her pal Iris. After a few minutes of chitchat, the blonde slayer had excused herself, deciding to head home for some well-deserved rest. Hands resting in the pockets of her tight beige jeans, India let the cool breeze filter through the thin tee shirt she wore, smiling as she walked.
When she left the club finally, Angel started to follow her, trying to figure out in his head just what he was going to say to her. He didn't want to come off like some sort of creepy stalker, even though, by following her, he was pretty much doing exactly that.
She started to walk down one of the back alleys, obviously not too worried about being accosted. Hell... she just needed some quiet time to think. To figure out why she'd been in such a funk lately.
He continued to follow her, still working on something non-creepy to say, not quite getting that just saying ANYTHING at this point would be better than quietly following a young woman into an alley and being strange.
She stopped then, sighing but not bothering to turn around. "Ok. We're gonna do this the easy way here. You're gonna show yourself, then nicely stop following me without me having to make a necklace of your teeth."
Well, that did cause him to walk out of the shadows that he was kind of naturally sticking to. Some habits were hard to break. "Sorry," he said as he came out. "I swear I wasn't trying to come off stalkerish."
"So... you follow a girl into an alley, try to hide from her so she doesn't notice you, and then say you're not trying to be stalkerish?" India looked at him with a glare that was almost hilarious. "Fine... then why ARE you following me?"
OK, so this wasn't getting off to a good start, now, was it? "It's kind of habit to stick to the shadows," he tried to explain. "And that just made it sound even worse, didn't it?" He ran his hand lightly over his hair. "You're India, right?" And he even pronounced it correctly!
"I am..." She replied, crossing her arms demurely as she set back on her heels, one eyebrow rising slightly. "Aaaaaaaaand you know me how?"
"I don't." At least he was being honest. "I'm kind of here on official business. Your kind of official business." He was referring to her Slayer trade. "I'm here to give you a message."
"A message from who? Because seriously, whoever thought this was a good way to deliver a message clearly isn't playing with a full deck." She tried to look mad, which, really, just came off as looking annoyed. He was way too attractive to actually stand there and be TOTALLY pissy with.
"It's actually about the Freddy Kruger wanna be running around in people's dreams." Yeah, remember him? We still gotta kill that bastard, too, ya know? "The only way that you're going to be able to do anything with him is to get him into reality."
"That's great... but why come to ME?" She asked, as face it: there were an assload of slayers now, and Catherine was technically the 'leader' around here...
"Because you're the one a friend of mine saw in a vision," Angel told her. "I was told your name and what you looked like, so I had to come and find you. I don't question these things, I just kind of do what I'm told when it comes to that."
"Ok, so.. let's say I bite and believe you. You got a name? Or do I just call you Stalkery Shadow Guy?" She snarked at him, tapping her foot against the ground now as they spoke.
"It's Angel, actually," he said to her. Although he was sure that 'Stalkery Shadow Guy' kind of fit as well. It was just too long to go by.
"And... you're what, a watcher or something?" She asked, still trying to figure out exactly who this guy was, and what it had to do with HER.
"Not really," he said. "I don't work with them, actually." All he had done was sold Mr. Giles that building that he owned. Other than that, he didn't really have anything to do with them.
"Freelance, huh?" She asked with a snicker, trying to figure out what felt so... wrong about him. She couldn't put her finger on it... "Well, aren't you just a go-getter?"
"Can't expect you guys to do everything," he said with a slight shrug. "I should get going. You should take the info I gave you, though, to heart. Hopefully something can be done about that guy."
"I'll get right on you. IT! I mean I'll get right on IT!" She yelped, practically facepalming right there. "I... I really shouldn't speak sometimes."
He simply raised his eyebrows at her for a second after hearing that. Well wasn't that interesting? "See you around then," he said, turning to leave.
"Wait..." She called after him, vaguely annoyed but... interested all the same. "What if I need to get hold of you?"
Annoyed but interested. Seems like the fate of anyone talking to Angel. "Don't worry. I'll be around," he said before walking off.
"....sonofa... I KNEW he was gonna say that." She grumbled, before turning to walk off...
