A Couple of Proposals
Who: Ash and Lucy
Where: Ash's Place
When: Oct. 17th, Afternoon
Lucy hopped off the ridiculous pink bike that David had built for her after she pulled up at Ash's place and parked it, pulling off her helmet and shaking out her hair in an effort to get rid of the dreaded 'helmet hair.' She walked over to Ash's front door and knocked on it, almost completely totally sure that he was there.
Ash had actually just gotten home from training with Buffy, and had just gotten out of the shower. Meaning... rather than his usual snazzy black suits, he was wearing a pair of black sweatpants and a plain white t-shirt. Snicker. It looked almost ridiculous on him at this point. Answering the door, he smiled brightly, gently pulling her in to place a sweet kiss on her forehead. "What a pleasant surprise... how are you, love?"
Her face broke out into a wide grin when he opened the door. "Doing good," she said, walking inside. "School was...bland and boring, but it wasn't horrible so my day was still good." That probably made sense somewhere.
"I can't see how anything could be bland when you're looking like that..." He said with an almost lecherous grin, taking in those long legs with a whistle. "Come on... make yourself at home." He said, taking a seat on the sofa.
She sat down beside him, leaning her head against his shoulder as she let out a sigh. "Trust me, school is bland. I wish I didn't have to go." She'd rather just stay with Ash all day, but she knew her parents would lose their minds if she did something stupid like dropped out.
"You're almost done, honey. Then we have our entire lives to be together, and never part again if we choose." He said, hoping it didn't sound as... stalker-y as it did in his head.
"I know," she said about her almost being done. She would be so glad when that happened. At least when she was in college, she wouldn't have to live somewhere else. "That's something that I look forward to."
"And you know what comes after THAT..." He said teasingly, knowing what they'd both mentioned and hinted at for so many months.
"Yep!" she said, snuggling in closer to him. "So looking forward to that, by the way," she pointed out to him. She couldn't wait until she could live here and stay and not have to worry about going back home.
"Of course... there's that part of me that wants to tell you I *might* have already gone shopping and spent most of my life savings on a certain... accessory..." He teased again, KNOWING how surprises and waiting drove her insane.
"Well...you kind of did already by SAYING it," she said, opening her eyes wide at him. "And...since you already SAID it, then maybe you should go ahead and give it to me!" She turned toward him and pouted. "Please?"
"Hm. Maaaaybe..." He said, trying not to laugh there. "What do *I* get for giving in?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
She smiled at him. "I'm sure we can come up with some sort of trade," she said coyly to him, giggling. "Now show me this big surprise that apparently cost you so much."
"Alright, alright..." He caved finally, reaching into the small drawer on the side of the end table and pulling out a tiny dark-blue box, opening it and taking out a small diamond ring. Honestly, Lucy's family could have bought it with the spare change they keep in their POCKETS, but it had taken Ash years of saving to get enough for it. "I can't say I was planning on doing this so early, and obviously, we gotta kinda keep this on the down-low for a while, but... Lucy, we've been through SO much already, and I never want to be without you again. Will you marry me?"
She grinned widely at him, nodding her head enthusiastically. "Of course I'll marry you!" she squealed, leaning up and hugging him. It didn't matter if the ring was almost modest by Van Warren standards. He had gotten it for her. "I think we should go to Vegas as soon as I turn eighteen." And she was totally serious about that.
"....Luce? Remember your brother threatening to turn me into a hood ornament? I have no magic now to make sure he doesn't DO that." Ash snickered and shook his head. "And I think he may do that if we don't give you a REAL wedding. And when you're a LITTLE older."
"Because you think he'd really do that after...well...everything?" she asked. Well, maybe she had a point. "This is supposed to be about us, right? I'm not worried about anything like a 'real' wedding. What's important to me is being with you."
"Then... when you turn 18... we'll talk about it." He said, giving in a little. "Because God knows I can't seem to say no to you. Ever."
She smirked. OK, so she knew that she could get her way when she really wanted it, pretty much no matter who it was with. "As you shouldn't," she said to him, poking him on the nose.
"You're evil, you know." He pointed out with a grumble. "You KNOW you're sexy as hell, and aren't afraid to use that fact to manipulate me."
Her grin got a little wider. "Of course," she said. She didn't mind using manipulation if it got her way. Any rich pretty girl learned that quickly. She just happened to be nice and talented, too. Wasn't he lucky?
"I swear. Meredith Delany is a horrible influence on good innocent people EVERYWHERE." He said with a snicker, only PARTIALLY meaning it. He knew damned well that Mere wasn't the ONLY reason Lucy had changed so much...
Well....death will make you reevaluate things. She wanted to make sure that she lived her life fully in case it decided to rear its ugly head at her again. "Well, can't say that's a lie," she said with a shrug.
"Oh... and I do have one extra surprise for you..." He added, pretending it was nothing too big. "You know, if you're interested..."
She arched an eyebrow at him. "OK...now I'm totally curious and interested," she said. "You know you can't say stuff like that to me without me wanting to know it!" Apparently Ash knew how to be manipulative as well, didn't he?
"Well, I talked to Kevin. And I might have sorta worked out a deal with him that enables you to stay with me." He said, trying not to beam with a huge smile.
"Oh my god...really? FINALLY?" she asked with a huge grin on her face. It had been kind of silly for her to go home just to sleep and change clothes, basically, and even that was becoming less frequent since half of her wardrobe was here anyway.
"Well, he said to avoid any trouble, their place will remain your 'official' mailing address until you're 18. Also, even once you move in, you have to visit your siblings at least three or four times a week." He laughed, knowing that would be no big deal, as she spent most of her 'free' time with them anyway.
She nodded. "I can totally handle all of that," she said to him. She loved and adored her siblings, so visiting them a few times a week was no huge issue. Heck, she could make at least one visit a week out of also picking up her mail! Apparently she already had this figured out. She laughed and hugged Ash. "This is so AWESOME."
"I'd do anything for you, Luce. Anything." He sighed, just hugging her and taking in the scent of her perfume, and honestly having to hold himself back from just taking her RIGHT this instant.
"I know," she said back to him. "I'd do anything for you as well." Seemed like a lot of people cared for this guy, huh? Lucky him.
