Jack's Kinda Tamed
Who: Jack, Mia, and Later Natalie
Where: Avarice
When: Oct. 12, Evening
Thank god it was a slow night at Avarice. It was Mia's first night flying solo behind the bar, and honestly, a huge crowd probably would have sent her into hysterics. She had made it through the busiest part of the night, and now? There were only a few people at the bar, which meant the quiet young woman could relax a little. Wearing dark blue jeans, a white tank top, black suspenders, and a gray bowler, she hummed a little to herself as she washed a few errant glasses.
One of those people at the bar was Jack Delany, enjoying a beer (just one, thank you) before he headed back home for the night. Broken Sunrise had finished a practice a little earlier, but he had been too wired to just go home. Natalie was busy tonight, so that basically left him to himself. So, he stopped by Avarice to grab a beer and try to relax. When he finished it off, he motioned to the bartender. "Can I get a glass of water?" What, he was trying, even if he felt like an ass for getting water at a bar.
"Sure thing, bud. Coming righ..." she cut herself off when she saw who was sitting there. She was a fan, ok? Fuck off. "M-Mr. Delany, it's... um... pleasure to meet you. You sure you don't want something else? On the house..."
He smiled at her. "Nah, it's not a money thing," he said to her. "My ah...girlfriend is worried that I'm pickling my liver a little too quickly." God, that was probably the first time he'd EVER used that term, at least in a good fifteen or so years. Weird. He bashfully ran his hand through his hair. "How about we split the difference and go with a coke then?"
"Sure..." She said with a surely disappointed smile, having heard the word 'girlfriend'. She set the coke down in front of him and gave a sweet smile. "I heard you guys come here often... haven't seen anyone major yet though until now... I'm Mia. Kind of new here."
"Nice to meet you, Mia." He couldn't HELP but notice that she was gorgeous. Of course, now he was at least putting forth a real effort toward not fucking every girl who turned his head. "Pat's kind of a homebody, actually. He likes to stay up his wife's ass, which...I don't blame him." Patience was gorgeous, after all, even if right now she was...kind of terrifying.
She blushed a little, having seen pictures of Pat with his wife. Yeah... both were just stupidly hot. "So... girlfriend, huh? Congrats.. how long have you been dating?" Ok, so she was being nice AND fishing for info.
"We've been dating for about two months," he told her, taking a sip of the coke when she handed it to him. "So, still all fresh and new." He just prayed like crazy that it would stay fresh and awesome after time had passed.
"She's a lucky lady." Mia said sweetly, not exactly great at flirting, but not nearly outgoing enough to say something sexual.
"I'm a lucky guy," Jack pointed out. "She's someone willing to look past the fact that, well, I ain't exactly known for my ability to be monogamous and willing to give me a try, anyway."
"Oh, I've heard the legends..." She laughed with a blush, sort of disappointed that that era for Jack seemed to be... over. "Sounds like all the exciting celebs that come in here are all spoken for now...CJ was right, I missed all the fun times."
He laughed. "Guess you did," he said with a shrug. "Sorry about that." Because he would SO hit that if he were single and everyone KNOWS it. And Natalie better come out to play soon or it may not be over yet. Jack is trying, but he's only...well, JACK.
Yep. Natalie's mun totally got the hint. TOTALLY. Anyway. Mia gave an adorable smile and hooked her thumbs into her suspenders and leaned against the glass-rack. "Is that really your daughter that plays in Suicide Messiah?"
He nodded. "Yeah, that would be Mere," he said, chuckling, knowing that Mere would be all over this girl in a heart beat. Mere unfortunately had NO subtlety, even Jack had a little.
"She's really good. They all are." Ok, and ridiculously hot, too. But, again? Supposedly allll taken. Sigh. "Not to sound like a groupie, but I love Broken Sunrise though. You guys are AMAZING."
Mere was only sort of taken, but anyways..."Don't worry, you don't sound like a groupie," he said to her. "And I mean that in the best way possible." WAS there a bad way to mean that? "And thanks."
"No need to thank me for speaking the truth." She said with a chipper little smile. She was really FAR too bright and cheery to be in Los Angeles. "I kind of squealed when Ben told me you guys come in here sometime."
He laughed. "Well, I'm here a lot, and so is Chloe. The rest it's kind of a crap shoot." He smiled at her. "It kind of depends on what's going on with them." Lexi was around a decent bit, although she was usually so far up her girlfriend's you know what to notice anything else going on. Of course, if she was legal, Jack would probably feel the same way.
"Well, I look forward to getting to know you all." She said with a very polite, very sweet smile. "This has been... a really crazy-busy job so far, but I'm really liking it though."
"It really doesn't seem like it would be too bad of a job," Jack said with a smile. "I mean, it's a place where you get to meet a lot of people and get to listen to good music. Most people would kill for a job like that."
"When it gets REALLY busy, it makes it hard to catch a breath... I gotta get the hang of not getting all stressed then..." She admitted, blushing ever-so-lightly, before feeling her eyes widen a little as she saw Natalie McGuinness walking in, and coming up behind Jack, giving the girl a 'shhhh' gesture with her index finger. Grinning cutely, the brunette vocalist slipped her hands over Jack's eyes and laughed. "Guess who?"
He jumped just a tad when Natalie put her hands over his eyes, then grinned when he heard the voice. "Well, I hope that it's my extremely busy but still very hot girlfriend," he teased, lifting her hands off of his eyes and turned around. "Well what do you know? It is!" He reached over and hugged her.
She laughed and hugged him right back, winking a thanks to Mia. "I called the house and got no answer, so I figured I'd give this place a shot. You REALLY need to start actually turning your cell phone on, Jack."
He had actually completely forgotten that he had it on him. "Like I'd hear it in here, anyway," he pointed out. "Plus, like you said, I'm not exactly hard to find." It was here, band practice, or either with Natalie or possibly at home. Actually, home was usually the LAST place that he was.
She hopped onto his lap cutely, wearing tight jeans with rips in the knees, a black, cleavage-y button-up blouse, and black gloves, her long black hair falling in wavy curls about her shoulders. "You don't smell like alcohol at all... I'm happily impressed!"
He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Hey, I"ve been very good. Only had one." Like he'd ever give up for good. "Just ask Mia here," he said, looking toward the bartender. "I have been a very good boy."
Mia just looked to Natalie and shook her head in silent agreement. Natalie laughed and looked to the bartender. "Sorry if he hit on you or anything. At this point I think it's like breathing to him." She said with a teasing giggle. Seriously, she was TOO sweet and cute to sing for such a theatrical, gothy band...
He just smirked when she said that. OK, so it WAS kind of like breathing to him at this point. Charm was just something that no Delany could turn off. "Still, all I'm going to do is flirt with anyone but you," he said to Natalie with a grin.
"Damn right. Otherwise I'll club you with my microphone stand." She said without even a hint of sarcasm. "You look amazing as always..." She said with a sigh, leaning in to give him an innocently cute kiss on the lips.
He kissed her back quickly. "I can say the same for you," he said back to her. She was a gorgeous woman, after all. He'd have to be blind not to see that. He also knew she'd clobber the hell out of him with that microphone stand if he screwed up.
"You know, last time *I* checked, you were living alone now. Which means... you have a niiiiice empty house waiting for us." Oh. Subtle, Nat. Reaaaaal subtle.
She had a point, didn't she? "Guess that means we're heading back to my place then." Well, at least Jack can take a hint when he's given one, eh?
