Taking the Next Step
Who: Isabella and Rebecca
Where: Rebecca's home
When: Monday, October 4th - Evening
"Isa? Um... is everything alright, honey?" The almost sugary-sweet voice of Rebecca Stone called out as she walked into the living room of her home, where her girlfriend was relaxing with a cup of tea she'd made for them. Now, the reddish-blonde haired woman carried in a plate of pastries she'd baked, placing them on the coffee table. "You're... strangely nervous tonight."
"Strangely nervous?" Isabella repeated, before frowning thoughtfully. Yes, she supposed that was ONE way to put it. She set her tea down on the coffee table. "Sorry, I don't mean to be."
"You just seem more... quiet than usual." Yes, because usually Isabella was SUCH a chatterbox, hm? Rebecca sat down beside the other woman, snuggling into her. "Cynthia was nice enough to take Bethany out for the evening, to give us some time alone. Which kind of surprised me, because she's not usually so eager to leave us alone."
Isabella wrapped an arm around Rebecca and placed her cheek to the top of her head, idly tracing her fingers along the other woman's palm. "I *may* have asked her to do that. Politely," she added. She also *may* have given the girls some money to see a movie, or something, but that was neither here nor there.
Becca raised an eyebrow, turning to look into Isabella's eyes at hearing that. "Rrrrreally." She laughed, wondering what her girlfriend was up to. "You've got that devious little lilt to your voice now, that combined with the nervous thing... has me REALLY wondering what you're up to, sweetie."
Isabella chuckled. Uh-oh. Caught out, huh? Not that she was really good at hiding what she was feeling right now, anyway. "I... uh, I actually wanted to talk to you about something."
"Oh. Oh dear." Ok, so she was skittish, ok? When she heard things like that, she always went to the worst possible emotional place first. "Is... is everything ok?"
"Everything's *fine*," Isabella assured her, smoothing a hand through her hair soothingly. "I just," she sighed, knowing that she'd likely NEVER be good at these things, "wondered how you would feel about us moving in together."
".....you...." Rebecca started, before stopping herself, then beginning again. She looked fairly stunned, as if someone had just hit her with a taser or something. "You want to... to move in? With me? With... with us?" She asked, a huge smile threatening to break out across that beautiful face.
"Yes," Isabella replied, smiling softly. "You make me feel..." she nibbled her lip thoughtfully. God help her, she was just going to blurt everything out today, wasn't she? "I love you. Very much. And lately, spending time away from you has just become too hard to bear."
"I'd be delighted, dear..." She looked ready to burst. Or maybe even giggle in a very Cynthia-like way. "I need to talk to my daughter first, though..." She frowned. "I want to say yes here SO badly... but I need to make sure SHE'S alright with it..."
"I *may* have already done that," Isabella murmured. "Remarkably, they both wanted noise canceling headphones. Although for entirely different reasons." Bethany, so she didn't have to listen to Sin yammer on, and Sin, so she didn't have to hear her mother 'get her groove on'. Lovely.
"I'm sure..." Rebecca said with a laugh, looking so altogether touched that it looked as though she might cry. "Isabella... this is so unexpected... but... god, I'd love it. We have plenty of room here if you'd like to stay here..."
"I think that would be perfect," Isabella murmured, giving Rebecca a sweet kiss on the lips. The last thing that she wanted to do was uproot the other woman out of a home she'd lived in for so long. "I'm sorry to just spring this on you, but... I didn't know how else to say it."
"You just gave me the most wonderful surprise of my life... and you're APOLOGIZING?" She burst out laughing, as if that was the most ludicrous thing she'd ever heard. "Isabella... that's NONSENSE."
Isabella actually blushed then, funnily enough. "Well, I could have been more romantic about it." Although the fact that she spoke to BOTH of their kids beforehand? Meant not only that she'd been thinking about this for a while, but that she took into consideration how EVERYONE would feel about the situation.
"I love you, Isabella. So much it makes my daughter grumbly at times, because I talk about you incessantly." She admitted, blushing a little. "You're what I've been looking for all my life."
Isabella let out a dreamy little sigh then. Awr. That was the sweetest thing she'd ever heard. She placed a palm to Rebecca's cheek and leaned forward, pressing her lips to the other woman's. "Now that I have you, I'm never letting go."
"Good. I expect many years of sweetness, of hearing my daughter complain about how brutal you are at work, and of probably giving both of our girls nightmares in the most wonderful of ways." Heh heh. Seems maybe Becca had a slight wicked streak in HER as well, eh?
"Wonderful," Isabella repeated, a cheeky little smirk appearing. "Well, I think that we should get a start on that. Don't you?"
