Bunny Slippers Are The Cutest Thing Ever Who: Brayden & Mac Where: The beach house When: Tuesday morning
Call the newspapers, because this? Was huge. Ladies and gentlemen... Brayden Bale... was sitting quietly in the kitchen, eating breakfast and not talking or doing anything obnoxious. Clearly, the end was night, yes? Anyway, having decided to wait to get dressed, he sat there at the counter, wearing only a black and blue plaid pair of pajama bottoms, eating a bowl of cereal and silently reading the newspaper. When Brayden was QUIET? Obviously, something was on the kid's mind.
Mac wandered into the kitchen still half asleep during Brayden's solitude of silence in a pair of pink fluffy bunny slippers, black and pink plaid pajama pants and a over-sized tee. "Morning." She offered softly on her way to get herself a cup of coffee.
He looked up then, seeing her and almost giggling. Yes. Giggling. Hey, girl looked ADORABLE, ok? "Hey Mac. Got a minute or two? Kinda need to talk to someone, and really... ain't nobody I confide in more than you."
"What?" The teen quirked a brow at the guy catching that flicker of a glimmer in his eyes when she turned to face him. The fleeting amusement she caught there had Mac glancing down at herself briefly wondering what her housemate found amusing with her sleepwear.
"First? Anytime I'm in a sour mood, you're wearing those slippers. Seriously. Cutest fucking thing EVER." Bray was nothing if not entirely brutally honest, hm? "Second. So I finally sucked it up and asked Meredith to move in with us. She said yes, and we'll get her moved in this week. But... Mac, I'm scared. And I fucking HATE admitting to ANYONE that I'm scared of anything. But I'm so scared of how in love with her I am. Like.. I'm afraid she's just gonna wake up one day and decide this isn't where she wants to be."
"Oh." Mac smiled shyly hearing Brayden's comment concerning her bunny slippers. "Guess they're not the typical slippers a teenage girl would wear." Not that Mac would give up her bunny footwear for anything, they were just to comfortable to do that. Mac shuffled over to Brayden then placing a hand on each of his shoulders and giving him a direct look in the eyes. Brayden Bale was most probably the only person on this earth that Mac would dare be so bold with.
"Do you love Meredith?"
"Mac... I mean every word of this: there are three women in my life I love enough to gladly give my life for. My mother... my best friend..." he looked at her when he said that one, "...and my Meredith. I'd do anything for her."
"Then stop panicking." Mac told him. "You love Meredith, and I know for a fact she loves you. A person would have to be blind not to be able to see that. You're getting yourself worked up into a tizzy all for nothing."
He just grabbed the girl, hugging her tightly. Oh, if only the people that only saw the 'usual' Brayden could see this. This was a side of him only Mac saw frequently. Even Meredith rarely saw the true emotional side of him. "You're seriously the best friend I could ask for, Mac. Seriously. Someday... you're gonna make some guy the luckiest bastard alive."
"Won't happen if a certain someone squeezes the life out of me first." Mac said with a gasp for air. She loved Brayden, god knows she did. Loved him to death, but sometimes the guy just didn't realize his own strength when he got anywhere near emotional.
"CRAP!" He laughed, letting go of her. "Sorry, babe. I kinda forget my own strength sometime. On the bright side, you know now that if anyone ever gives you any shit... there's no doubt I can beat the everloving SHIT out of them..."
"So you demonstrated not all that long ago." Mac had never been more thankful to have Brayden as her bestest friend then she did that time at Avarice when a guy tried getting a bit forceful with her in an attempt to get Mac to dance with him. "Did I ever thank you for your intervention then." She wasn't sure on that. Mac had been too rattled at the time to know if any thanks were given or not.
"You've thanked me in the ways that matter." Bray said casually. "Like putting up with my douchebaggery on a daily basis and never complaining. Oh, and for totally forgiving the fact that I originally befriended you with the intention of fuckin' you. So.. yeah. No thanks needed."
"I'm not exactly the easiest person to put up with either." At least she hadn't been in the beginning of their friendship, though Brayden might not know, or realize it, he was responsible for much of Mac's transformation from who she had been to who she was at this moment. "So I suppose we're kind of even." Finally getting a cup of coffee fixed for herself Mac joined Brayden at the counter.
"So how're things going at school? That place gotta be a crapfest without me there..." Yeeeeep. There's the Brayden we all know and want to smack.
"Actually it's not that bad." Mac answered tucking her bed tussled hair behind her ears. "I mean I usually can't wait to get out of the building. Maybe I'm just not the Mac I was when we first met that I can tolerate it a little better then I did." The teen added with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
"Good. Girl as good-lookin' as you could rule tha place if ya had more confidence. Have you seen Brandie around much? I kinda hate not being able to keep an eye on her." Ok, and he hated knowing that boys were starting to notice his baby sister.
"You worry too much, Brayden, but if it'll ease you mind a bit I'll try keeping on eye on her." Mac offered before taking a sip of her coffee. "Speaking of which, I should probably start getting ready for school."
"I'd appreciate it. My dad said she has the hots for some creepy little warlock kid you guys go to school with. So just... keep an eye on her for me. Let me know if I need to maim someone." He smirked, making it hard to tell if he was being serious there or not. "Yeah... Go get ready then. I'll swing by on my way home from helping Mere to pick you up."
"Brandie's lucky to have you as an older brother." With a soft smile Mac kissed Brayden lightly on the cheek. "I'll keep on eye on her." The ebony haired teen promised sliding down off her chair. "Now I'm off." Mac smirked grabbing her coffee off the counter before treading off toward the bathroom to shower.
