Going into New Territory
Who: Bray and Mere
Where: Avarice
When: Monday Night, 9/27
In Avarice, in a corner booth, Mere was sitting on Brayden's lap, cuddling with him like they were the only two in the room. OK, so it wasn't porny, though. She actually had her head buried in the crook of his neck. Apparently she was feeling snuggly tonight. Her best friend seemed to have SOMETHING going on lately that had her walking on air, and, while she hadn't told Mere just yet what it was, that made her extra happy tonight.
Honestly, that made Brayden feel like the king of the freakin' universe. Having the girl that was his everything just clinging to him like nothing else could matter... it pretty much made him feel like a million bucks. He sat there, arms wrapped around her, holding her to him as they just listened to the music, enjoying each other's company. Finally, he broke the silence, nuzzling her cheek with his nose. "You know... I think I could seriously sit here like this forever..."
She giggled. "Well, that was pretty much a part of my plan," she said to him playfully. "Well, until we go off and screw like bunnies, anyway." OK, girl will always have sex on the brain. What can you do?
"I know yer old man pretty much loathes me, and I swear I'm not trying to start a war here, but..." Hey, he'd been thinking about this for months, and had even gotten Mac's blessing quite a bit ago. "What would I have to do to get you to agree to move in with us?"
"I think my dad just loathes other guys," Mere joked. As for the other part, she wasn't sure what to think. That *was* a step that she hadn't taken with any other guy. She sat up a tad and looked him in his eyes. "Is Mac OK with it?"
"I...." He blushed(!) there, feeling like a huge dork now. "I kinda ok'ed it with her like two months ago." Oh god. He'd spent all this time then, mustering up the courage to ask her!
That actually made her grin. "It's been two months since you asked her?" she asked. "Why'd it take so long for you to ask me about it?"
"I guess I... just wanted to make sure I really thought you'd say yes before I asked. So I was kinda nervous, ok? Ain't no big fuckin' deal..." Yep, and here's where he put on the macho act to avoid seeming like an actual sweet guy.
She snorted. "It is a big deal. No one's ever asked me that, before." Which actually meant something to her in a weird way. It was a first, which she kind of hadn't had in a very long time, so take that for what you will. "And I'd love to move in with you, Brayden."
"Cool." He said, trying to play it smooth.. although the expression on his face, a mix of pride, excitement, and love... well, it kind of blew any kind of act he tried to put on.
Yeah, she knew that he was up to. She could see right through him. He couldn't even pretend to play her like that. "So, when do you want to start helping me with my stuff?" She'd have to talk with Jack, but it shouldn't be a big deal.
"As soon as you're ready and as soon as you can promise Jack ain't gonna be waiting for me with an uzi full of silver bullets." Smirking though he was... he MEANT it. He somehow suspected Jack would have him killed if he thought he could get away with it.
Jack probably would, but he also wouldn't stand in the way of Mere being happy, either. So, he wouldn't be a BIG deal. If it came to a wedding, though, he'd probably flip Bray the bird at the alter as he was giving Mere away. Jack was still Jack, though. "I'm sure we can work something out with that."
"Then... seriously? The quicker the better. I want to get you in your new home." He'd never admit it, not a guy like him... but right here? This was the greatest day of his LIFE. Yes, even over the time he had the pierced-up goth sisters.
"Great. Sounds like a plan," she said to him, smiling. She was sure that this was going to be great, though. She just hoped that her and Mac would continue getting along so well.
"You're... really making me happy, Mere." He was trying to let his walls down a little, let the girl really understand how much she meant to him. "I miss my world sometimes... but with you here... I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be than right here."
He didn't talk about where he had come from at all, really, so it was kind of heartening to hear him even mention it. She smiled at him, running her fingers through his short hair. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, either."
"Goddamn, Delany... how'd I end up with such a hot fuckin' babe, huh?" Yeah, like a guy like Brayden would settle for less? Still... a nice sentiment anyway.
She shrugged. "You must have done something really good in a past life," she said cheekily to him. "Musta been Gandhi to earn me, though."
"Dude. I bet Gandhi got MAD pussy in fuckin' India or wherever the hell he was from. He was prob'ly like a goddamn rock star there." Yep. Before any of you wonder... Brayden's own MUN thinks he's a jackass.
Mere giggled. "You know what? He probably did. I bet he had bitches throwing themselves at him left and right. He was only talking around basically in underwear, after all. Well, and a bed sheet, sometimes, I think. Am I remembering that right?"
"I think so. Skinny bald dude with glasses and a porn 'stache. Was all into peace and shit." Ah. Obviously how the great man would love to be remembered, hm? "Anyway. You 'bout ready to go home and celebrate? And by home I mean OUR place. And by celebrate I mean screw all night."
She laughed. "Awesome. Let's get the hell out of here and do some celebrating," she said, grinning at him. She was more than up to doing some celebrating with him.
