Happiness is a Hyper Dhampir

When: Ok, so, backdate this about a week or two. Please. Because I'm lame and took too long to do this scene proper.

Considering that Stephanie had, just a few days ago, not really known WHAT to do with her musical future (other than the idea of a Misfits cover band, which she STILL kind of wanted to do), to suddenly be sitting here, the new rhythm guitarist of Suicide Messiah, was a little bit mind-boggling to her. She knew who she wanted to tell first, obviously. But she couldn't just call Lexi and be all "OH HAY GUESS WHAT"... no, for something with this much meaning? She had to do it right. She called the other girl, asking her to meet at Avarice, where Steph sat there in an adorable black, slightly-puffy miniskirt with a snug Pikachu tee-shirt and black sneakers, a pitcher of non-alcoholic champagne ready for the two of them.

She bounced a little in her seat, almost audibly giggling to herself in excitement.

"Pika-Pika," Lexi said in Steph's ear. She had managed to sneak up behind the young woman, and she giggled as she hugged Stephanie from behind and settled into a seat. "Hey, babe, what's going on? Lookin' cute, tonight."

"Lex!" Stephanie squeaked cutely, bouncing in her seat again as she returned the hug. "Sit. Please. I have got some REALLLLLLLLLLY cool news, and honestly if I told ANYONE else first I think I'd hate myself forEVER."

"Ok. So. You know I've been sort of at a loss for what to do next, musically." She took a deep breath, trying, TRYING, not to burst into excited giggles.

"And you know I had talked about just... doing a little cover band or something for a while, maybe finish school before I worry about trying to get into anything too long-lasting. BUT." She held up an index finger cutely, beaming ear-to-ear.

"I sort of got an offer yesterday. One I can't possibly turn down, for a couple different reasons. Lexi... Meredith Delany wants me to be the new rhythm guitarist for Suicide Messiah!"

Lexi's mouth dropped open and she started laughing. "No freakin' way! Babe, that's amazing! And since you couldn't turn it down, I'm guessing you didn't?"

"No WAY. I mean... you helped FORM that band, sweetie! This is like... the ultimate way of honoring you!"

And sweetly, even though they were a couple now, that's exactly what Steph wanted: to honor the girl that was not only her girlfriend, but was still and always WOULD be her hero.

"I'm gonna make you SO proud, Lexi... as proud as you make ME."

"My guess? Pretty much as soon as I get the courage to actually show up and try to pretend to be their equals."

She giggled and looked at the floor, sure she'd be blushing if she could.

"I feel like SUCH an amateur... just because they've been a band for a few years now, they have an album coming out in a couple weeks, I mean, this is like jumping into something I don't feel like I deserve..."

"You're jumping into something huge, sure," Lexi said. "But the fact that they chose you means that you don't have to be nervous ... they've called you in as an equal. You have to learn the songs and get up to speed, but nerves? Screw that. Be a little deferential, sure, but just get out there and rock your ass off and it's all good."

Steph gave another happy little bounce then, looking ready to explode with joy, but keeping it kind of cool.

"This is so amazing. It feels like it can't be real, you know?"

Ok, was she SORT of teasing there? Yeah. She really WAS waiting for that... but she also got a kick out of seeing Lexi all squirmy.

So... when exactly did Stephanie start really enjoying attempting to drive Lexi crazy with those kind of thoughts? Not sure but... DAMN was it fun.

And then, as if it was a real concern,

"And... does Meredith leer at EVERYONE like theyre something to eat? Because she's human again now, and STILL does that."

Heh. Good lord, Steph really didn't know Mere yet, hm?
