FINALLY
Who: Giles and Delilah
Where: Ashes to Ashes Magic Shop
When: Aug. 18th, Evening
Another late night at Ashes to Ashes for Delilah. While she didn't mind letting her employees do inventory for her, she preferred to do the books herself. She was sitting at a table that was by the book section with a cup of tea as she checked them over and over to make sure that everything added up right. Such was the life of a business owner.
The small chime of the bell hanging above the door was the only real sign that Rupert Giles had even entered, as he took a silent look about the store, smirking when he saw the woman concentrating on, well... something. She looked not unlike himself when he was concentrating on some new training program for Faith, or trying to work on banding the rest of the group together for something. "I'm not... interrupting anything, am I?"
She glanced up at him and smiled. "No, come on in," she said to him, putting her pencil down. "I was just doing the books for the month." She pushed the papers away. It could always wait until tomorrow, after all. "Would you like some tea?"
Giles? Want tea? Please, that's like asking Ben if he wants sex. Giles just gave a polite nod, and sweetly walked behind her, placing his hands softly on her shoulders, giving her a relaxing mini-massage. "You look ready to hit something, frankly..."
She shut her eyes and allowed him to massage her. For it being Giles, any sort of contact was very welcome, and kind of unexpected, actually. "Doing the books for a business will make you feel like that sometimes."
"Yes. Well." He chuckled, not wanting to bring up how stressful running the entire Watcher's Council could be. "At least Wesley seems capable of running the Vegas division of the Council. As we spread out more, I'll be able to worry less and less about what I need to do..."
She nodded. "It's probably a good idea to have some of them in Vegas, anyway." And since one of the two who had caused some infighting was moving, all the better.
"It's... an experiment. We're trying to expand, slowly, to every part of the country that we get high reports of demonic activity in. Of the first few we found, Vegas was closest to LA, meaning if anything went wrong, I could get there to help quickly." Oddly? This was a HELL of a compliment, as other than Wesley? Giles never gave this much explanation to anyone.
"High demonic activity in Vegas makes complete sense, actually," she said after thinking about it for a moment. "The only thing keeping it from blowing up completely is the fact that there isn't a Hellmouth on it."
"If... this experiment works out, we'll likely branch out to Cleveland next, as they're on an actual Hellmouth." Giles found himself wondering if his flirting skills had truly diminished this bad, that he was talking demons and Hellmouths with a woman he truly fancied.
If his were bad, then hers were just as bad. Then again, she HAD been pleasantly surprised when he started to rub her shoulders. "Then hopefully things will work out fine."
"Delilah... I apologize if... this is presumptuous of me... but you and I seem to be somewhat... interested in one another... yet... neither of us seems willing to take the next step in doing anything about it... and I suppose I'm wondering if you have any thought on how we should... approach this." Oh my god. Was... was Giles RAMBLING? Holy shit.
She actually chuckled. The situation was amusing, after all. "You have to forgive me. I'm a bit 'gun shy' about relationships." Because her last try at one had worked out so well. Then again, she had been under the influence of residue dark magics. "I suppose a date would be in order."
"A date." He chuckled, a bit embarrassed, clearing his throat. "That sounds... quite nice, actually... assuming you're agreeing to such an event..."
"I wouldn't have suggested it if I didn't want to do it," she said, the blushed slightly. "I mean a date, obviously." God, it was like being a kid again!
"Good. Good." They really WEREN'T unlike a couple of nervous teens here. Had it honestly been so long for them both? Giles, as usual, found himself removing his glasses, cleaning them nervously.
"Oh good lord," Delilah muttered. This was too much for even her. She grabbed Giles by the shoulders and pulled him to her, kissing him on the lips. If she went too much longer without so much as a kiss she was going to electrocute the entire block, or at least knock out the electricity of LA.
Well, to say he was surprised by that? UNDERSTATEMENT. It was a pleasant surprise though, and he eagerly kissed her back, having been attracted to the woman for quite some time.
God, could she have been more relieved when he actually started to kiss back? Probably not. Then again, if he had pushed her away, she might have electrocuted him by accident. When she did finally pull away, she grinned at him. "So, just had to do that. Get it out of the way. First kisses are usually awkward."
"Yes. Well." He looked not entirely unlike the proverbial deer-in-headlights there, comically enough. "I... I quite enjoyed it though... despite any fumbling on my part..."
"I didn't notice any fumbling," Delilah said to him with a sly smile. "What I noticed was much more like something I'd like to repeat very soon." And much more, actually.
Well, as hilariously stuffy as he could be at times, Giles knew how to take a hint. With a more relaxed smile, he took her face between his palms, bringing his lips to touch hers again.
She pressed her lips against his and kissed him back, mainly just relieved that yes, he actually WAS attracted to her as well. Very, very relieved, considering how attracted she was to him. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders as they kissed.
"So. I would... assume this means we're at least going to go out sometime..." He said with a somewhat sarcastic drawl...
Delilah chuckled. "Well I certainly hope so," she said to him. "I don't just run around kissing anyone who comes into my shop, after all."
"I would hope not... I'd have quite a time explaining it to Cynthia's mother that she's been snogging her watcher, after all..." Oh DAMN! Giles! Giles could be snarky!
Delilah laughed. "Sin is already having enough issues with her mother snogging and doing so much more to Isabella. Let's not add to her mental distress, shall we?"
"Perhaps you're right." He said, a playful sigh escaping his lips. "Maybe... you would like to visit me tomorrow, have some dinner and get to know one another better?" Oh god, Giles. THAT'S how you ask someone out? Really?
Hey, it seemed to work on her. "I'd love that," she said to him with a smile. Damn would she love that.
