A Date Night
Who: Maddie and Gunn
Where: Silky's Club
When: Saturday Night, Aug. 7th
They had really only been dating for a couple of weeks, although neither had verbally put such a label on it yet. Then again, they had a lot in common, not even to mention the fact that they both dealt with the supernatural in their own way. She had visions, him and his gang went and took care of them, which seemed to bring her no small amount of relief. Plus, she was great to hang out with, and sexy as hell, too. He also didn't have to hide half of his life like he'd had to do before, which was great. All of these reasons and more were why Gunn liked Maddie a whole hell of a lot.
Tonight they were hanging out at Silky's. "So, how'd your day go?" he asked her when they both got there.
Maddie smiled sweetly(!) and took hold of his hand as they walked inside. Her hair was still dyed that cotton candy pink and she was dressed to kill in tight black jeans and a low cut Suicide Messiah t-shirt. "Awful," she told him. Oh dear. Really? "Because it just didn't go by fast enough." She was smitten, alright. There was no denying it.
He grinned at her when she told him why it had been so awful. "Same here," he told her with a slight chuckle. He squeezed her hand lightly as the two of them picked out a table to sit at. "Want anything? Drinks are great and the food is decent." Plus he got it all for free because him and his crew kept the place clear of 'trouble.'
"I think a beer would be fine for now," she told him. "I'm easy." She realized what she'd said just then and blushed faintly. Although, to be fair, it was entirely true. "Maybe we could have something to eat later," she suggested. That was an interesting thing about Maddie, it didn't take much to please her.
He simply grinned at her when she said 'I'm easy' having way toonmuch damn sense to make anything else about it. He shouted his beer order out over to Silky behind the bay, who nodded and then handed a waitress two beers for them. "There are much better places to eat, although, when Silky gets back there and cooks, it's actually worth the heartburn."
"Heartburn," she repeated with a chuckle. "You make it sound more and more appealing," she teased him. She set her elbow on the table and her chin on her open palm, fluttering her eyelashes at him cheekily. "Alright. So, what's your favorite thing to eat here, then? If you had to narrow it down."
"Actually, the hot wings here are awesome," he said to her. When the waitress came over with their beers, he took them both and handed her hers before taking a sip of his.
"Thanks," she smiled and took a sip of her own beer, eying him over the bottle. "Believe it or not, I am a fan of hot wings," she admitted.
"Really? Then we're perfect for each other then, aren't we?" he asked playfully. "Why don't you tell me what you like, then I'll tell you if it's good here then."
She giggled and thought about that, taking a contemplative sip of her beer. "Okay, so. Hot wings," she started ticking it off with her fingers, "Fries. Steaks. Tell me you're a vegetarian and we might have a problem," she teased.
"Definitely not one of those," he said with a laugh. "I need my protein. All of those are good here when Silky cooks. Hell, the fries are still pretty good when he ain't cooking."
"I think that you should get paid for all of this endorsement that you're doing," she teased lightly before taking one of his hands and tracing her fingers along them. Her hands almost looked pixie-like compared to his.
"Well, they don't really charge me for anything anymore, so that's an endorsement right there," Gunn said to her with a grin. "Then again, they keep me and my crew in drinks and food and we keep the place clear of vamps so that the patrons can fool around free of feeders." Silky loved having a club all to himself and his friends, basically, so they got drinks and food for free. Good trade.
"That sounds like a good trade," she said with a nod. "I actually wondered how you and the gang 'made ends meet' given that hunting isn't exactly a paying job." It was funny, really. How... she didn't worry that he'd get hurt helping someone, but more that he didn't eat enough or had enough clothes for warmth. Not that he complained, mind you. He didn't seem the type for that.
"That's kind of how we get by, mainly by trades," Gunn admitted to her. This area of town got a lot done with trades and barter, as it was. Gunn provided a service that didn't provide a regular salary, but they all made it work in this side of town. "A job doesn't have to exactly be paying to work out in the end."
"True, but it doesn't exactly give you ... well, anything to have for yourself. No one person can be so entirely selfless. Well, maybe Jesus, but I'm not letting you die for our sins," she added with a blush.
"I don't want to die for anyone's sins," Gunn admitted. "It's just...well, someone's got to do this stuff. We're not the only group out there doing it, either. Maybe at some point LA can be evil free or something. It's a hope, anyway."
"It's nice," she replied. "People already have enough problems without the whole evil-grr and apocalypse-stuff." She thought briefly of telling him about her demon half, but... maybe it was too soon in the relationship for that. She didn't want to scare him off, after all.
"Lot's of people really do have more than enough problems to deal with without having to think about vampires trying to eat them outside of a club or the apocalypse falling down on their head every five minutes. At least they don't have to think about it too much with more of us around," Gunn said to her with a slight smile.
Maddie gave him a slight smile in return, before leaning across the table to give him a sweet and tender kiss on the lips (two words which were never used in relation to Maddie, let's admit it).
He kissed her back. He honestly wasn't sure the last time that he had liked someone this much, and wasn't in complete fear of telling them exactly what he did 'for a living' because she already knew and was kind of a part of it. It was pretty great.
