Who: Delilah and Bastian
Where: Ashes to Ashes
When: August 5th, Afternoon
Delilah was sitting at the cash register while Tara did some inventory downstairs in the basement. The girl did much better doing any sort of book work or inventory than actually dealing with customers. It wasn't for her lack of knowledge, but more for the fact that it took her a full minute to stutter out two sentences sometimes. She got too nervous around people that she didn't know and it usually got to the point that, if they got impatient with her, she would just get to the point where she couldn't talk at all. So, today Delilah had given her a break and let her work downstairs while she manned the front. She had little else to do today, and she trusted that Tara would do a good job, and not steal anything, either.
Bastian had spent the better part of her afternoon job hunting. She'd popped in her resume to a few places (Some of the dates were fudged, but otherwise it was all true!), but, unfortunately, not to any place that really spoke to her. She did, however, stop short when she saw Ashes to Ashes and arched an eyebrow at the store name. It sent a chill down her spine. She'd been thinking of Ash recently, wasn't that strange?
She "hmm'd" thoughtfully and made her way inside, for once dressed respectfully in a pair of jeans and a white, three-quarter length dress shirt, her long blonde hair tied back in a tight ponytail. Once she knew what the store was, she let out a barely audible gasp.
Delilah looked up from the book that she had been thumbing through when she heard someone come into the store. "Can I help you?" she asked, looking over at the girl that had walked in.
"I'm not entirely sure," Bastian admitted. She actually felt oddly giddy being in here, and if anyone knew her at all, they'd know what a strange and yet adorable thing it was to witness. "Are you the, uh... owner?"
"Yes, that would be me," Delilah told her. She came out from behind the counter and walked over to the girl. "Are you looking to put in an application?"
"I'll be honest, I wasn't looking for this place," Bastian admitted. If she'd believed in that kind of thing, she might have said it was fate. "But if you're looking to hire, then I'm looking to put in an application."
Delilah smiled at her. "Most people can't really find this place unless they want to," she pointed out to her. It wasn't hidden on purpose or anything, just somewhat easy to overlook unless you were looking for something...different. "I could always use another person on staff, though."
"Perfect. I have a resume, if you require one," she said, pulling it out from a small folder tucked under her arm. Of course, all of her references were fudged as well. Thank you, Blake, for help there, hmm?
Huh. Wouldn't it be funny if she WAS hired? Delilah would have Tara, the introvert, and Bastian, the Ice Queen (well, to be fair, it wasn't like she went out of way to be rude to people, she just didn't show emotion all that often... unless she was around a certain singer, mind you).
Delilah took one of the resumes from her and looked it over. "Bale? Related to the Bale family that owns the club?" She couldn't help but remember the night when, 'under the influence' of the darkness residue that Ash had left with her, she had practically molested him. Lovely.
"That's right," Bastian replied with a nod. While Bastian could technically have whatever she wanted through her family, she preferred to earn it for herself. "I wouldn't expect any kind of preferential treatment because of that," she assured Delilah.
"No, not at all," Delilah told her when she made clear that she didn't want any preferential treatment. "I just know Benjamin Bale through some contacts is all." She looked the resume over. "So, exactly how much do you know about magic and the items here. I need to know how much I need to teach you about the items, if I need to teach you anything at all."
"I'm, uh... a practicing witch," Bastian admitted, feeling just a tad weird for outing herself about that. It wasn't something that she shared with friends, let alone perfect strangers. "It's more...instinctual, though, rather than something I've learned. I'm not sure if I can fully explain it," she admitted with a faint blush. "I know the properties ... uses of some items, but certainly not everything that you sell."
Delilah nodded when the girl said that she was a practicing witch and explained exactly what she knew. "Well, I can teach you about everything that we carry here, and Tara can help you out a lot as well." Delilah cast a glance toward the basement. "She's one of the clerk girls who works here. She's down doing some inventory right now, actually. I'd rather hire people who have at least a rudimentary knowledge of magic as well." She smiled. "Plus people who just believe that it actually exists is always nice."
"Yeah, I'll bet," Bastian smiled faintly. "I love to learn new things, and I promise that I won't slack off." Hm, think she was eager?
Delilah nodded. "Sounds great," she told Bastian. "Can you start on Monday then?"
"Monday? Monday would be perfect," Bastian replied, actually giddy at the prospect of doing work. The goof.
Delilah smiled at her. "Great. Can't wait for you to start."
