Some Rather Delicious Comfort
Who: Mere and Deanna
Where: Mere's Home
When: August 5th, Right after this scene.
Tonight was a 'staying in' night for Mere, it seemed. She was a little worried after her 'talk' with Kayla yesterday, well, worried for Deanna, at any rate, and it had sort of put a damper on her want to go out. As per usual, if she was staying at home, she was working on music. She was actually still working on a song that was slowly working into a working thing with the title of 'Bad Things." She strummed along with her guitar as she sang the lyrics that she had finally worked out.
When you came in the air went out.
And every shadow filled up with doubt.
I don't know who you think you are,
But before the night is through,
I wanna do bad things with you.
I'm the kind to sit up in her room.
Heart sick an' eyes filled up with blue.
I don't know what you've done to me,
But I know this much is true:
I wanna do bad things with you.
When you came in the air went out.
And all those shadows there filled up with doubt.
I don't know who you think you are,
But before the night is through,
I wanna do bad things with you.
I wanna do real bad things with you.
Ow, ooh.
I don't know what you've done to me,
But I know this much is true:
I wanna do bad things with you.
I wanna do real bad things with you.
Yeah. Any serenity, or concentration, Mere was feeling? GOODBYE. Deanna was right outside, knocking on the door with the force of a professional boxer. "JACK! MEREDITH! Please... are either of you home? I... I really need to come in..." Uh-oh.. this was the much heard-about but not-often-seen Frantic!Deanna.
Mere actually nearly jumped out of her skin when Deanna started beating down her door. "Sometimes I really miss being able to hear people before they were on top of me," Mere muttered, setting her guitar aside and getting up. She answered the door. "OK, stupid questions aside, what happened?" The 'are you OK' was obviously answered by a big fat NO.
"K-Kayla...." Deanna just sort of latched onto Meredith, and from the look of her (wrinkled jeans and plain tee-shirt, he hair just... hurriedly thrown into a pony), she'd left in a hurry. "She b-broke up with me..."
"Goddamn Kayla..." Mere muttered, wrapping her arms around Deanna. She kicked the door shut as she pulled Deanna further inside. "I'd ask what happened, but I'm pretty sure that I can sum it up with Kayla being a goddamn retard and leave it at that."
"She says... it's because she's afraid of hurting me. But what the hell did she just DO then, Mere?" Dee was tearing up again, her mascara running a little. Those big eyes were seriously TOO heartbreaking, people. "I'm so tired of loving people... and having them decide they don't want to be with me..."
"I know right now that I should explain things like 'maybe she was thinking of hurting you worse' or something, but I just don't fucking get it," Mere admitted. "I can't believe that she would let someone as good as you go because of her own issues."
"I'm not that good, Meredith. And don't think I'm looking for pity, because I'm NOT." Dee just... plopped herself down on the first chair she saw, sighing. "I'm not that smart, and I'm easy, and I'm just a damn stripper. But that doesn't mean I don't have feelings too..."
She happened to plop down on the sofa, so Mere sat beside her. "I'm not GIVING you pity, dumbass," Mere told her. "You're way smarter than you give yourself credit for, you pay your own bills, so who gives a fuck how, and what the hell is wrong with being easy, huh?" OK, no one was easier than Mere, let's get that straight.
"I'm getting a great track record, huh? Damn it." She sat back, staring at the ceiling. "Sad part is, we both know how I'm gonna deal with this. I'm gonna end up hooking up with every last person who shows me some attention, until I hook up with ANOTHER smooth-talker, dedicate myself to them, and get hurt again. Rinse, repeat."
"Well, hooking up is a time honored tradition of what you do after a break up," Mere told her. "You can always avoid the smooth-talkers, though. Anyone who sells you a line, tell them to fuck off."
"I can't do that, Mere! I'm too NICE." She sighed, knowing full well she was a pushover, not realizing that maybe her heart was her greatest strength: nobody loved as easily or as hard as Deanna did.
Mere sighed, practically pulling Dee into her lap at this point. "It's going to be alright, babe," she told her. "I'm gonna get you through this. Maybe you shouldn't go out until you get a handle on shit then, if you're so worried about it."
"Please. As you like to say... 'this is ME'. I'm gonna go out there and just get my groove on with every single person I find attractive. Can't very well think about how bad you're hurting when you're having multiple orgasms." Wow... did Deanna just channel late-series Anya there? Seriously?
"Hmm...well, you got a point there," Mere agreed. "You could always let me give you a lot of those multiple orgasms, though." Some men think with their dicks. Mere thought with her vaginal equivalent. "And you know I'm never going to sell you a line of bullshit."
"You don't waste any time, do ya." Dee said, laughing between sniffles. Jeez. Well... at least she knew her Meredith would never change. "Aren't you dating someone now, honey?" She asked, clearly not knowing Brayden very well.
"Well, you were the one who brought it up, not me," Mere told her with a slight grin. "And I'm dating Brayden, honey. Do you KNOW how many girls he gets on an average night?"
"Now... I didn't exactly say NO, so..." She laughed with a sad smile. "I... could use some distraction, I'll say that..." She admitted, snuggling into the other girl with a sigh.
Mere squeezed her a little tighter. "I'm definitely good for some distraction tonight," she said, rubbing Deanna's thigh lightly.
"Oh dear." Deanna giggled, sniffling a little, and shifting a little. "You're a rotten, rotten woman, Meredith Delany..."
Mere chuckled. "Well, that IS what I'm known for," she told Deanna. "And I'm also only going to take you for the fun ride, not the 'take advantage of you' ride."
"No. Cos... I know you love me." She sniffled, giving Meredith an actually sweet, adoring kiss on the lips. "You're the ONE person I know always will."
Mere kissed her back. "That's very true, babe. You know I'll always love you."
