Mouse Makes More Friends!!!
Who: Mouse and Lucy
Where: One of the Malls in LA
When: Saturday Afternoon, 7/24
Lucy, carrying more bags than she really had any business carrying, headed for the food court so that she could get a carbo load. Yes, she wanted to garner some energy so that she could do some more shopping. Lucy was a shopping fiend. She was also going to grab a coffee from the shop in the mall. It was no Chloe's Sugar Shack, of course, but it would do in a pinch. After grabbing some pizza from the Sbarro and a large mocha frappacino, she grabbed herself a seat in the court so that she could munch.
Well. Mouse certainly liked hanging out at the mall, but let's be honest: she likely couldn't buy one item that was in one of Lucy's BAGS. But she was happy, regardless. Walking out of FYE, she'd finally saved enough of her tips to afford to be able to buy herself Eternal Embrace's new CD, which sweetly enough was making her almost giddy. When she could afford it, she was totally coming back to get the new t-shirt they had there too. Wearing a knee-length plaid skirt and a plain red tee-shirt, the frightfully pale redhead (seriously, vampires would tell this girl she was pale) walked to the food court, just to sit down and look at her new CD. When she saw Lucy sitting there eating, she waved over in her direction, not wanting to bother her while she ate. She WAS kind-of, sort-of her boss. If not, she was at least her boss's SISTER.
When Lucy saw Mouse wave at her, she waved back giddily. Oh heck yeah Mouse was coming over to sit with her. Standing up in her chair, Lucy yelled over the din of the mall, "Come sit with me!"
"Ohhhhhmygod." Mouse muttered under her breath with a huge blush. She HATED having attention brought to her. And when a gorgeous, rich, pseudo-celebrity was YELLING over to you? It tended to bring attention. "Ok, ok!" She whimpered, grabbing her little bag and heading over, sitting down quickly. "You and Chloe are so loud, I swear!"
Lucy just laughed. "Sorry. It just kind of runs in the family," she said with a smile and a shrug. Bull hockey it ran in the family. It was just totally Chloe and Lucy. However, the two of them had more than enough energy to power New York City on their blood alone.
"Not used to seeing you without Chloe or Ash at your side..." She giggled, feeling that of all the people who worked with, Lucy was probably the one she related to the most. The girl was rich as hell, yes... but she had a sweetness and some sort of inner innocence to her that made Mouse feel kin to her.
"I know," Lucy said. "I'm not one to like to run around by myself much, really." Of course, it partly had to do with the fact that she had died, but Mouse wouldn't remember that much. "BUT! Chloe was doing something with Nica and Ash had something that he had to do with Buffy, so I decided to go out and do some shopping."
"I just... I like to walk around here, just sort of people-watch." It was sad, but she enjoyed living vicariously through watching other people do the things she couldn't do.
Lucy did spot the little bag that Mouse did have with her. She understood Mouse's money situation, and would always slip extra money in the tip jar when no one was looking. She couldn't help it, after all. She just literally wanted to help. "Ooh! What is it that you got down there?" she asked, pointing to the bag.
"I... I don't really spend anything on myself much, but..." she blushed a little and held up the bag. "The new Eternal Embrace album came out like, a week ago and I've been DYING to get it. So I checked the finances and realized that if I just cut down on my lunches for the next week, I totally had enough!"
"Don't forget, you can always snag a cookie or something from the Shack, too!" Lucy offered. "I know I do all the time." She was family, but Chloe pretty much looked the other way for all the employees, too, or so Lucy understood. "But they are SO good, aren't they?"
"They're my most FAVORITE band ever." She blushed suddenly, looking almost ashamed. "No offense to Chloe's bands! Or yours! I should just shut up now..."
"No! Not at all!" Lucy said to her quickly. "I totally love them. Remy is fricking awesome at what he does, and Natalie is just memorizing on stage." And supposedly Jack Delany was seeing her now, according to some of the gossip rags. Hilarious, to her at least.
"I wanna see them in concert sometime SO badly. Every time they play near here, I always sit there and call the radio stations, trying to win tickets. Ain't givin' up until I win, either!" Aw, listen how cute and actually hyper Mouse could be when you got her talking about something she was passionate about. "Plus I heard Chloe saying that Remy and Natalie hang out at Avarice sometime. Meaning I might have to overcome my shyness and go there sometime."
"You totally should go there some night and hang," Lucy said to her. "We should go together! I can totally introduce you if we see them!" Of course, Lucy would be meeting them for the first time herself, but that wouldn't stop her from just running up to them and talking.
"You'd want to hang out with ME?" She blurted out, not even trying to be rude. It just never even occured to her that... that a beautiful, rich, popular girl like Lucy would have any desire to even SEE the girl away from work.
"Well yeah," Lucy pointed out to her. "You're a nice person and you don't scare the daylights out of me. What could I *not* like about you?" The idea that Lucy wouldn't like Mouse just confused the bejesus out of her.
"I dunno!" She flailed cutely a little, feeling just a tad moronic now. "I mean, I'm just a waitress, you know? And you're... this teenaged virtuoso who everyone loves!"
Lucy rolled her eyes. "You're not just a waitress," Lucy pointed out. "You're also Kaitlin Crowe slash Mouse slash sweet shy chick who has a cute red headed girl staring at her whenever she comes into the shop!" Oh, Mouse might think that the thing with Hope was one sided, but Lucy could totally tell, although she was fairly certain that the girl didn't know she was bi.
"I have..." She stopped, blinking at Lucy like a second head had sprouted between her shoulders. "I have a girl staring at me?" Of course Mouse would focus on that, come ON!
"DUH!" Lucy exclaimed, giggled. "The girl that you've been talking to whenever she comes in. The chick with the paint!" Because Lucy hadn't caught her name yet, she had become 'chick with the paint' in her head because, more often than not, Hope had some paint on her clothes.
"Hope?" Mouse squeaked, against showing how Lucy's sister had come up with the nickname. "No... she's just nice. And talks to me." She found her grip on her little bag tightening as she tried not to grin like an idiot thinking about her couple of little talks with Hope.
"Well, she is nice, but she also LIKES you!" OK, there might have been a slight amount of teasing in there, but she was serious about it. "Of course, seriously, I think she does. She may not quite know it, but she totally does. I SO wouldn't lie to you about this."
"You think so? Ohmygod. Lucy? Hope is like, the cutest, sweetest girl I've ever MET. She's like me, only more.. more confident and way more beautiful." Oh dear. Looked like SOMEONE had it bad, hm? "I think she works with Ash, doesn't she? Think you could get him to talk to her? Just... see if she mentions me?" See... this is where Mouse clearly didn't know any of these people. Could you ever PICTURE Ash practically gossiping with someone?
Oh, the idea of Hope and Ash gossiping about their significant others just nearly made her crack up and fall out of her chair, but she held it in for Mouse's sake. "I'll talk to him about it and see if she does, OK?"
"Really? You'd do that for me?" Not to bludgeon anyone over the head with it, but Jesus, were there two cuter people alive than these two? Seriously? "Lucy's you'd be like... the best friend I've ever HAD if anything comes of this." Sadly, that was true. Mouse really... had no friends. She actually considered Neely a friend. Why? Because Neely was always friendly to her when she came in the Shack. That's how mostly friendless the girl was.
Lucy just giggled. "Like I said, if Hope ever brings you up to Ash, then I will totally tell you." She wasn't sure if Hope and Ash had ever talked, but she was more than willing to let Mouse know if anything ever did come up.
She almost squealed there. ALMOST. "You are SO sweet!" Ok, so... yeah. I'll admit it. If Lucy wasn't just a LITTLE too young for Mouse's tastes? Yeah. She'd TOTALLY crush there. Whew. "So, dare I even ask what all you bought today?"
Lucy giggled and looked down into her bags. "Oh TONS of stuff!" she said with a slight squeal. "Lots of clothes, make up, just a bunch of different stuff." She didn't want to brag TOO much about what all she had bought, since she knew Mouse's financial situation.
"Well, nothing wrong with that! You've got a reputation to uphold and all!" Mouse laughed, not jealous at all. It wasn't in her nature. Maybe a little wishful that SHE could be so rich.. but she was happy for Lucy. The girl was sweet enough that she deserved it.
Lucy took another bite of her pizza. "Hey, you want some of this?" she asked. "They give such big slices that it's no problem sharing." Plus, even though she burned everything that she ate, she probably SHOULD at least try to watch her girlish figure and all.
"I...." Oh, the choices. She REALLY wanted it, as it looked and smelled delicious, but she hated feeling like a mooch. Even if it WAS the only chance she had of actually getting some food here today. "...you sure you won't mind?"
"No! Not at all," Lucy said. "I wouldn't offer if I wanted to be a giant greedy person about it, you know?" Besides, she probably couldn't finish the whole thing. Before Mouse had a chance to say anything else, Lucy was already getting to cutting the giant slice in half.
"I guess I can't argue with that logic!" The redhead giggled as she took the slice of pizza, sweetly enough feeling bad, like she should be boxing it up and seeing if anyone at home wanted it. "So... are you in one band? Or are you pulling a Chloe?"
"Well, I'm getting to where I'm going to be pulling a Chloe soon," Lucy said with a grin. "I'm in Van Warren, of course, and Brayden Bale asked if I wanted to join his band that he fronts. I still kind of want to jam with them first to make sure that we gel OK before like, setting it in stone, though."
"I can understand that. Isn't Ash afraid of Brayden... um.... hitting on you? Like... ALL THE TIME?" Come on... Mouse knew of Brayden's rep by now, mostly due to SEEING him flirt with every girl in the Sugar Shack that wasn't her. And Lucy? Wasn't exactly the kind of girl Brayden wouldn't look at.
"Not so much afraid as threatening him within an inch of his life if he does, which I think Brayden just kind of blows off," Lucy said with a slight shrug. "Besides, all he'll ever get to do with me is flirt, and it'll be one sided." She had no interest in Brayden Bale, after all.
"Brayden's kind of... icky." Icky? Yep. Mouse was obviously a master of the English language. "Like, even if I liked boys, he'd be icky. It's like... I feel like I could get herpes just shaking his HAND."
Lucy giggled. "I get the feeling he takes, you know, precautions, against that, but I know for a fact that I would never sleep with him even if I were single. He is kind of icky."
"Either way. He's like... one step above being that jerk from the high school basketball team." She didn't say anything else, because again: she knew if Lucy or Chloe knew how the guy had been harassing Mouse, he'd be kicked out.
"Who?" Lucy, as popular as she was in high school, barely paid attention to who else was popular. Actually, it seemed to be part of her mystique according to some of those in the school.
"Oh. I dunno his name. He plays for your school's basketball team. He's always in the shop and just... UGH. He hits on me all the time." And THAT was all she'd say there.
Lucy just rolled her eyes. "Boys will be boys, I suppose," she said. Honestly, for a few exceptions, she didn't really care for many guys in LA. Most of them seemed to enjoy being pigs.
"I can't wait to hear what you end up releasing with Van Warren... Mouse said with a little smile. "I'm not really too into metal, but you guys are REALLY talented."
"Thanks," Lucy said. "I'll make sure that you get a copy of anything that we do, OK?" Of course, Lucy would probably be handing those things out like people hand out condoms at the health clinic: for free and a lot.
"Anyway... I should get going. I need to go home and make my mom something to eat before I go do my late shift for Chloe." Not that she was complaining. Hell no, she'd ASKED Chloe for as many hours as she could possibly get.
Lucy nodded. "Alright, I'll probably see you at some point tonight." Lucy actually went to the Shack to see her sister a lot, plus it was just a decent place to hang out where she knew practically everyone there.
"Oh cool! I'll see you there then! Um... thanks again, for the pizza and for saying you'd ask Ash to talk to Hope." She blushed a little, unable to meet Lucy's eyes there. "And, um... thanks for being so nice to talk to. I don't really... have any friends."
"Well, you should totally count me as one of your friends," Lucy pointed out. Girl was friends with everyone, after all, so why not Mouse as well, right? She certainly had no problem hanging out with the girl.
