Skylar's Gonna Have to Kick Her Some Werewolf Ass, Isn't She?
Who: Skylar and Chloe, later Skylar and Lydia
Where: Chloe's Place, then Skylar's
When: Thursday Afternoon
Skylar was sitting in Chloe's home, sipping on some cocoa, since that was about all she could have right now, being pregnant. She was even avoiding coffee because it had too much caffeine, and she had read somewhere that could be bad for the baby. "So, what have you been up to lately, Chloe?" she asked her.
Chloe had been uncharacteristically silent, and actually went wide-eyed and flinched when Skylar asked that. "HUH? WHU? Oh! I... uh... heh heh... nothing?"
Chloe had been acting weird ever since Skylar came over. "Yeah, right. What's going on? You're weirdly quiet, and that's not like you at all."
"No, it's not, and I kinda have something big on my shoulders, right? But not like big physically, but more like when you know something that you think someone else should know but you don't wanna tell them because you're afraid of how they're gonna react, you know? Like that kind of something big." The ramble came out of her mouth like the proverbial flood gates had opened.
"...OK...what did you see? Who's going to freak out on you?" Must have been something huge for her to be acting like this. Chloe was the gossip queen, on top of everything else.
"Well, I didn't see anything per se, but someone who I know who never lies about anything did and told me and I kinda freaked out and didn't really know what to say or if I should say anything because holy freakin' crap am I afraid you're gonna have a major cow..." Yeah, the ramble kept going and going and going...
"Me? I'm going to freak out? I'm not going through crazy pregnancy hormones quite yet, Chloe. What the heck is going on?" Not like anything could top finding the ghost of her husband's late wife in her house, could it?
"You... um.... right...." Chloe stammered again, taking a sip of her bottle of Pepsi that, in nervousness, ended up draining about 3/4 of the bottle. "HAH! Boy... your sister, what a free spirit, huh?"
Skylar tilted her head at Chloe. "What about my sister? She's got that hippie ideal, yeah. Why?"
Chloe's voice cracked there, and if Skylar wasn't so weirded out now, she probably would have laughed at the sound. "OH YOU KNOW HOW GIRLS ARE WHEN WE HAVE CRUSHES!"
If this were anyone other than her sister they were talking about, Skylar might have laughed at how Chloe was reacting. Still, it didn't take her but a minute to add two and two together. "I'm going to have to kill Ben, aren't I?"
Chloe hid her face and just blurted it out. "MyfriendsaidshecaughtLydsgoingdownonhim
"Yep, we are going to have one dead werewolf on our hands," Skylar said simply. "I'm going to have to buy a silver stake and everything, so I can ram it up his ass!" She stood up. "I don't have the time or the patience for this crap! I told Ben to keep his filthy disease ridden mitts off of her!"
"Skylaaaaaar!" Chloe stood just as quickly, and waved her hands comically. "You can't do that! Not even talking about Ben here, but while Lyds is young, she didn't get forced into anything... you KNOW she's been drooling over him for months. If you hurt him, Lydia might never speak to you again."
"But if I don't get him away from her, he's going to break her heart!" Skylar pointed out. "I don't think she knows what she's getting into with him. Especially since Faith split from him, he's been plowing girls left and right. What makes her any different than a notch on his bedpost?"
Chloe sighed, not wanting to say her next thought. "Skylar, sweetie? If I say something I'm feeling, promise not to stake me?"
"Depends," Skylar said, but she sat back down, anyway. "Well, spill."
"Well... Lyds was drooling over him when she knew he had a girlfriend. And she was, well..." The blonde bit her lip in fear here. "She was kinda blowin' him in a bathroom. That doesn't really sound like a girl looking for romance or a relationship there."
"I guess what I'm sayin' is... I don't see her heart getting broken here. If you wanna have a talk with her about being so... easy?... that's cool, but...I don;t think it's her heart she was thinking with."
Skylar sighed, but knew that Chloe had a point. "Fine, point made. Still, what if she like...gets something from him?" Ben and her were still going to have a talk. One that might involve a silver stake in her hand, just for an extra measure.
"Oh, if he diseased up Lyds? I'll help ya kill him myself." She said it so quickly and cutely that it was almost funny. But she meant it.
"Ben and I are still having a chat, as are Lydia and I," Skylar said, and the look on her face showed that she meant it. "I kind of get where you're coming from, though."
Chloe found herself looking for a moment at Skylar's still barely-there tummy. If you didn't know she was pregnant, you'd never guess yet... but Chloe knew, and it made her catch herself staring. She was happy for the girl and for Pat... but that unspoken crush she'd had on Skylar since they met still gave her those occasional pangs of jealousy.
"What?" Skylar asked, then following where her eyes were looking. "Oh, her." Skylar just kind of had one of those feelings that it was a girl in there.
Chloe smiled, the happy part of her winning out. "He really makes you happy, doesn't he?"
"Yeah, he really does," Skylar said, returning her smile. "We've all got to find some happy in this city. Speaking of happy, met anyone lately?"
Chloe raised a fine brow, as if asking if she really needed to ask. "Once again, people are interested until I open my mouth."
Skylar sighed. "What happened?" Sounded like the Sugar Fairy had struck out again somewhere.
"Same thing. Guys look at me, they like the wrapping, but they never like what's inside: aka a big goofball who isn't interested in boning on the first date."
"Then you're meeting the wrong guys," Skylar pointed out. "Stop trying to meet guys in clubs and bars. You're never going to meet someone decent if you just try looking in those all the time."
"Skylar, where else do I go?" She laughed, pointing to herself. "This is me. I do spells, I dance, and I shop."
"Try finding a witchy guy, then," Skylar said to her. "They have magic shops around here, don't they?"
"Yeah... but most of them don't take it seriously, or are full of weird old people." She pouted, crossing her arms for effect.
"Then you're not going to the right ones," Skylar told her. "Look, try expanding your horizons some, at least in where you hang. Who knows what you might find."
Chloe gave her a little smile, that petty part of her thinking she'd never find someone like the person sitting right freakin' across from her.
"Now see, that's the smile I'm looking for." Skylar was mostly clueless about how Chloe felt about her. She had been a lesbian before falling head over heals for Pat, so you'd think she'd recognize.
"I wish we got to hang out more..." Chloe said with a little smile. "You're pretty much my best friend, but I rarely see you unless we're practicing or playing a show."
"Well, being a Slayer does eat up a lot of my time," Skylar said. "We should make plans to hang out more, though. Not like I can stay at my place right now, anyway."
"What should we do about that, anyway?" For once, Chloe got deadly serious. "Want me to see if I can come up with a spell that would make her spirit go poofers?"
"It's not like she's there of her own free will or anything, so making her go poof seems kind of wrong," Skylar said. "I *did* sleep with her husband on a regular basis, so I'm feeling lucky she hasn't gone exorcist on me or something."
"Ugh. True." Chloe thought for a moment, and finally reached over to pat her friend on the back sweetly. "You probably should go and talk to Lydia. And remember... DON'T BE MEAN."
"Not planning on being mean to her," Skylar said, standing up. Now Ben, Ben might at least get a nasty threatening, Slayer style.
Unfortunately, Lydia had no idea this was coming. She was sitting at home, enjoying a big bowl of microwave popcorn, and trying to not run into the ghost periodically popping around the house.
Skylar went straight home after talking with Chloe. She was going to do this as nicely as possible, even though a part of her seriously wanted to wring Lydia's neck. She walked inside of the house, trying to be careful because of the ghost. "Lyds, are you here?"
"Yep!" The younger girl had no idea what maelstrom was coming. She was as chipper as ever. "Living room!"
Skylar made her way to the living room. "You and I need to have a little chat," she said, flipping off the television when she walked in.
"Ok. For the last time. I don't smoke pot anymore. I haven't touched it in ages."
"Not about the pot, Lydia," Skylar said, shaking her head. She sat down beside her little sister. "There have been some rumors going around about you lately, about you and Ben."
Lydia's mouth twisted into a cute little 'o', but no sound came out. Finally, she gave a forced little chuckle. "Oh... you know how silly rumors are..."
"Not buying it, Lydia." Skylar cleared her throat. "Look, my not approving of him aside, you're old enough to make your own choices, as much as I might not agree with them." Chloe had to point that out to her, but oh well. "Still, going down on a guy in the bathroom isn't the greatest idea in the world."
Oh god... if Lydia could think of a list of conversations she did NOT want to have with her sister? A dissertation on oral sex would be right at the top of the list. "Ok, ok... look, don't freak out, ok? I was feeling daring, and we kept making eyes at each other, and one thing led to another."
"I'm still working on the not freaking out part. You're just lucky that Chloe talked me out of the silver stake," Skylar admitted to her. "Feeling daring aside, do you...he gets around, so to speak. God knows what he's packing. Did you use a condom?"
So much for thinking this talk couldn't get more embarrassing. "We didn't have sex, Jo. And we probably won't. I think he's too afraid of getting arrested."
"You don't just get that stuff from actual sex, Lyds," Skylar pointed out. "And don't look at me like that. You have no idea how much I *don't* want to be having this conversation with my little sister. And him getting arrested has done little to stop him before. He slept with Mere back when she was only sixteen." Yeah, she denied it up and down, but Skylar knew her friend well.
"It's not like he's an old man, Jo... he's 23. And I don't wanna run off and marry the guy, you know. You gonna tell me YOU never had a chance make out session with someone?" Now she was feeling a little more defensive.
Skylar sighed. This was not how she wanted it to go. "No, I'm not going to tell you that. I just...I want you to be careful, alright? And please don't even want to marry the guy, because he doesn't understand the concept of commitment in the slightest." She could have at least went to his office, even if it had to be icky as all hell.
Lydia, now more assured that Skylar was not, indeed, going to kill her, felt the urge to mess with her sister a bit. "Besides, it could be worse... at least I don't have a thing for PAT..."
"Alright, then death would be involved," Skylar quickly pointed out, narrowing her eyes at her sister a bit. Now was *not* the time to play with the pregnant Slayer.
"Besides... there's a reason Ben's had so many girls." She grinned there, going all crushy-schoolgirl. "GOD is he gorgeous."
"Gorgeous as he might be, he's still been around the block more than enough to be a problem. He can't keep a girlfriend when he bothers to try and have one." The ravings of Faith lately had not been lost on Skylar.
"Oh come ON. You mean Faith? From what I hear, she's worse than him!" She sat back, grabbing the popcorn again. "Now... look. I get it. I'm not usually like that anyway, ok? I wanted to feel sexy, to feel wanted. He needed to forget your buddy hurting him. We both got what we needed. It's over."
"Didn't say she was. Far from it, actually. You wouldn't believe the rumors that float around about her," Skylar said with a quick laugh. "She got hurt, too, so don't forget that. Anyway, fine. Case closed. Let's be done with it. I just needed to talk to you about it."
"Well, unless you want specific details, I think we've talked about all we can." She teasingly whistled and laughed. "If you want the details, I'm more than happy to share..."
"Oh, ew, EW!" Skylar jumped off the couch. "Stop that! Now you're just trying to gross me out."
"Look, Jo... just don't hurt him, ok? I may be young, but you KNOW me. I'm not about to let anyone talk me into doing anything I don't WANT to do."
Skylar sighed. "I know. I promise not to hurt him, alright?" Now threatening, threatening would totally happen.
