When Trouble Arrives
Who: Juliet and Pat
Where: Pat and Patience House
When: Early Evening - July 1
Status: To be continued in tags
A red Ford Ranger pulled up alongside the curb outside the McConnell residence. And after killing the engine a dark haired girl hopped out and reached over to grab her travel bag from the passenger side floor board before closing the door and locking the vehicle up tight. Wearing a skull tee and slightly ripped jeans Juliet wandered up to the front door with her bag slung over her shoulder and gave the door of her brother's place a good sound pounding with a grin spread across her features.
Patience was, thankfully, sleeping at the moment. I say thankfully because, honestly? Pat hadn't been able to get the girl to stop doing things she shouldn't be doing. It was bad enough she had god only knew what wrong with her, but she kept working, and going out with Gwen, and doing God knew what else, all while fighting off constant fevers, chills, and fainting spells. Real smart for a pregnant woman, hm? Sigh.
Anyway... she seemed to be in a rather deep sleep, so Pat, just wearing a ripped and faded pair of jeans, had turned on the television, and had started to watch some special on VH1 about 80s metal bands. God, he thought... how the hell did anyone buy an actual album by Winger? And WHY?
He was broken from his thoughts when the knock came, and he hopped up, honestly figuring it to be Ash or Gwen or someone similar. So, imagine his surprise when he saw, after roughly 5 years of not seeing her, "...Juliet?!?"
"Patsie!" The younger McConnell squealed dropping her bag when she saw her older sibling and flung herself at the bald headed guy. That she was overly excited to see her brother in the flesh would be an accurate statement.
Jesus... talk about a long time... the last time they'd seen each other, Pat was just starting out as a teacher, his FIRST band had just started playing gigs, and he'd never even MET Patience. Now he was married to a woman who'd been dead and then brought back, was in a quickly-becoming-famous rock band, had a fast-selling CD, and a baby on the way.
"Holy... how are you, kiddo? And no offense, but... what the hell are you doing here? It's been SIX YEARS!"
"Well," after hugging her brother fiercely Juliet untangled herself from the man and took a step back to get a really good look at Pat, "after waiting for what was forever for an invitation to come visit, and never getting one, I decided to take the initiative. So," the young woman grinned proudly, "here I am."
"So, where's the little lady with the ever growing package." Juliet inquired as she grabbed her bag to side step past her brother into the house.
"As much as I'd love to introduce you to Patience and cringe while the two you take turns making inappropriate comments and embarrass me... she's sleeping. Been having some... health issues."
He grinned though, giving her a playful little slug in the shoulder.
"So where all have you been, my little traveller?"
"Too many cities and states to name, but I'll tell you I did go to that arch thing in St. Louis and lost a good handful of cash in Las Vegas." Juliet informed her older as she dropped her bag down beside the couch before plopping herself down on the piece of furniture and propping her feet up on the table before it.
"Patience isn't having major issues, is she? I mean nothing too serious." Juliet was quite looking forward to taking on the role of aunt to the couples first child together.
"I'm being honest with you here, Jules. I have no idea. It's not like anything I've ever seen. She goes from being fine one moment, to having these... horrible fevers and fainting spells... to suddenly being a picture of health again."
He sighed, saying a silent prayer before continuing.
"We... we think her brother might be figuring out some way to help her. We hope."
"I'm sure he will. Everything will be fine. Just you wait and see." Juliet said with a hopeful smile sent to her brother. "Even if I have to hogtie the woman down on your bed to make sure she gets all the rest she needs before the baby comes." Her smile lifting to a pure grin all in an attempt to ease her brother's worries. Well, at least for the moment.
"Well, part of me thinks she'd kind of enjoy it if *I* was the one to.... you know? Never mind." He shook his head, remembering who he was talking to. "God, it's been so long... I'd just gotten my teaching degree when we saw each other last." He had a teaching degree by 24. And only used for A YEAR. Love, what a bitch, huh?
"If you were the one to what?" Juliet looked at him innocently while the train of thought in her head ran the opposite way. He opened the door and she was going to use that fact to her own amusement.
