Kindred Spirits Who: Meeghan and Brandon Where: Full Moon Records When: Late Afternoon - June 29
Meeghan had tried secluding herself in her new apartment, but that hadn't seemed to work out as little reminders of a certain blond seemed to keep creeping out of the proverbial woodwork. The only place she could think of that would be void of reminders was the recording company she had signed with. And it was purely due to that that Meeghan found herself sitting alone in one of the currently unused studios trying to lose herself in writing one of the songs that continued to tug at her thoughts.
"Well, well, well..." Came the sweetly pleasant voice of Brandon Bale, freshly home from his vacation in Russia. He'd been coming in to lay down the music to a few songs he'd written with Meeghan's vocals in mind while he and Catherine had been away... so imagine his surprise when he saw his friend already there. "It's like you read my mind or somethin'." He grinned and opened his arms. "Where's my hug, girl? I had so many ideas while I was gone..."
Meeghan didn't glance up right away, but when it started registering that she was no longer alone, and that, in fact, someone was there and had actually spoken to her, Meeghan glanced up with a Hmmm? The song she had been trying to work on had constantly been pushed from her thoughts and replaced with ones of a certain leggy blond. So to say Meeghan hadn't really heard what Brandon had said when he came into the studio would have been an accurate assessment.
"Yo, Lil Miss Daydreamer!" He laughed, arms still extended. "Just got home from Russia! And I COULD use a hug from one of my favorite people..." He couldn't help but notice her seemingly sour mood, but said nothing for now.
Brandon was probably one of the only people within all of L.A. that Meeghan would talk to at the moment, even if it were grudgingly, and besides the fact that he was a Bale. "Sorry," she found herself apologizing, "it hasn't been the best of days." Meeghan quirped as she got up off her chair and walked over to Brandon. "Welcome back." Murmuring softly as she drew the man into a hug he seemed to be so desiring from her.
After letting her go, he sat down on a stool across from where she'd been sitting, raising a brow in, comically, a very Neely-esque fashion as he looked her over. "So talk to me. You're not usually this angsty... What's bothering you? And more importantly, what can I do to help?"
"I really don't want to burden you with my life's problems. Besides, I wanna hear about these ideas you have." Meeghan said with a faint smile. Hearing what Brandon might have come up with could be exactly what the singer was needing. Listening to him could take her mind off other things.
"I'll make you a deal: we'll talk music and ideas... But then I want to know what's wrong. You're one of the few friends I have Meegs." He smiled and reached over to pat her softly on the shoulder. "Your problems are my problems."
"Even if they have to do with a Bale." Meeghan sighed lightly, and then shook her head to throw out that line of thought. "So. What ideas do you have to share with me." A light smile given as Meeghan retook her seat and looked expectantly at Brandon.
"Just some songs I wrote when I was in Russia. Some basic melodies that turned into full-fledged songs that I *think* might go really well with some of the lyrics each of us have written." Heh. Think Brandon was terribly excited about this? He almost NEVER showed this much emotion when dealing with anything not Catherine-related.
"So, let's hear em." Meeghan smiled genuinely this time reclining back slightly in her chair. "They are in English, right?" The young woman teased slightly as he had just returned from a mini vacation in Europe with his girlfriend.
"Smart-ass." He smirked with a low chuckle, starting to play the basic chords of the first song. It was slow, driving, and almost eerie, and when he finished playing it, he almost literally beamed. "I think you'd be doing most of the singing on that one. Maybe I'd do backing on the chorus or something, but I think it'd be perfect for your voice." Then he set the guitar down and rested his chin on his knee. "Now, let's hear what drama my family is putting you through now."
Meeghan smiled. "I like it. We should get together to fine tune it and then hit the studio to get a track laid down." It wasn't her usual style, but there was just something about Brandon's song she couldn't help but like.
"Just when i thought I was done with all the drama that one could possibly handle where a Bale is concerned," Meeghan shook her head with a heavy sigh. "Purposely steered clear of Neely and her psycho girlfriend only to meet someone who sucked me right back to square one. And to think I thought there could be something long-term and lasting with her."
"Wait... Who was this now?" He found himself getting a little aggravated, as he wished his family could just... manage to be even slightly normal. Even for werewolves. "Family or not, I'm not gonna let them play with your emotions."
Presuming that Brandon knew about the small influx of future kids finding their way into L.A. Meeghan just let things spill out. "Your sister. If I had known she was Neely's daughter I would have run in the opposite direction. Guess I wasn't made for a relationship of any kind." The dark haired singer finding herself sighing half heartily once more.
"Oh man... One of Neely's girls?" He'd heard about his, well, nieces, but had yet to meet them. "I'll... stay out of this if you want, but let me say one thing: with the possible exception of Ben, nobody in my family ever does anything out of spite or malice. If you hit if off with one of the girls... whatever happened, I'd be willing to bet money it was a misunderstanding of some sort."
"Bastian tried talking to me, but I wasn't listening to anything she was trying to say. Wasn't really wanting to hear any of her excuses at the time." Which, now that she had calmed down, Meeghan was kind of regretting. She should have stayed long enough to hear the girl out.
"Want me to get to the bottom of it for you? If you want me to just listen and otherwise butt out, I can do that too... But I'd like to help." He shrugged helplessly, before having an idea. "Maybe we could have a little get-together or something at me and Catherine's place. All the couples. Just give everyone a chance to mend fences and get to know each other. Me and Cat, you and Bastian, Blake and Gwen, and Neely and Rachelle. Just let everyone talk, understand each other, and all that happy horseshit."
"I appreciate the offer, Brandon. But I think I should try talking to Bastian one on one." Not that she was optimistic that it would do any good, but at least she would have made an attempt to try and reconcile with the girl.
"Alright. Just trying to help. I just wanna see you happy, ya know? Something tells me both of us have had enough misery in our lives." He smiled, winking at her. "Time for BOTH of us to have some happiness."
"Yeah." Meeghan gave a half, breathy laugh at that not quite believing the happiness thing was in the cards for her. "If things do miraculously work out maybe we could do that couples night thing at your place."
"Goddamn..." He started to laugh, shaking his head as he pictured his OWN pink-haired terror at home. "Every time we think our lives can't get any stranger, huh?"
