Making Fur Rug Out of Ben?
Who: Mere and Ben
Where: Avarice
When: Thursday Night
Mere stepped into Avarice and walked up to the bar to grab herself a drink. Nice thing about this place was that no one questioned her when she ordered herself a drink now. The bartenders knew her and her...condition, and knew that she was going to be looking underage for the rest of eternity if she was lucky enough to be around. So, they gave her the Jack and Coke she ordered with no fuss. She scanned the room to see if there was someone she knew that was out and about at the moment.
If she meant the sleaziest club owner in Los Angeles, she was in luck! Benjamin came walking out from the back, straightening his tie and toying with his slightly mussed hair, before whispering some thing to the bartender, who snickered and shook his head, handing Ben a scotch.
Oh Mere could smell what he had been up to. Vampire noses rarely lie. "Been having fun in your office, Ben?" she asked him, sliding up next to him at the bar.
"That depends.... jealous? Because that can be amended. I'm on the market again, after all." Although whether Ben was truly enjoying it, or just resorting to past behavior to forget about Faith had yet to be determined.
"More like a little turned on than jealous," Mere said to him. What few morals that Mere ever had seemed to have died along with her heartbeat, after all. She mostly just held back on eating people because, well, it made life way too complicated in this city. Plus, that 'no urge' thing she had going on. "You're officially on the market again?" She arched an eyebrow at him. "Glad to hear it."
"What can I say? My little Slayer passed on the best thing she was ever gonna have." But his voice was tinged with more bitterness than he intended. "Always nice to see you, though."
"Too bad for her." Better for the rest of us. She leaned her head on his shoulder. "It's been a while, hasn't it? What have you been up to? I've just been trying so so hard to be good. I suck at it, though." She grinned, noticing her non-reflection in the mirror behind the bar. "You should really look into getting rid of those."
"It's great how the most ludicrous request from most people actually sounds reasonable when you ask." He said sincerely, leaning his head against hers with a sigh. Meredith was one of the few people outside of his family that he was truly fond of in more than an amorous way. "I missed you, kid."
"Yeah well, mirrors not casting reflections on me tends to lead people in the way of stakes when I'm around," Mere pointed out. "I've missed you, too, Ben. People like you and I need to remember that we aren't made for traditional stuff." She almost sounded a little wistful about that herself.
He wrapped an arm adoringly around her shoulders. "How the hell have you and I just never ended up together? Tell me again?"
"I got turned into a vampire and you kept trying to date people," she quickly pointed out to him, snuggling up a little closer. "Plus I kept trying that crap, too, but now I'm swearing it off. Humans tend to get upset when they find out that I kind of eat people for sustenance, you know? Not like I even usually kill." She usually only killed the ones that deserved it in some way. Besides, they tasted better.
"Hm. Shame your type tend to not like the taste of my type... I think you'd find me a... very willing meal." He laughed, giving her an affectionate kiss on the forehead.
"Wouldn't know, never tried it myself," Mere pointed out with a grin. "You know me, always willing to try anything once, or twice."
"..or three, maybe fourteen times..." Ben added playfully.
"Hell, more than that, usually," Mere threw in.
"Stay with me for a while? I think I could use the company of the one true friend I have." He meant it, too. Meredith was the one person he knew who never judged him, never looked down on him.
It would kind of be like the pot calling the kettle black, if Mere ever did such a thing. "Sure, I'd love to," Mere said to him.
"So... you might want to hug me, or kiss me, or whatever one last time, because I might be a fur rug soon." He said, finishing his drink.
Mere finished off her own drink. "What, is it a full moon or something?" She admittedly didn't know quite how these things worked for Ben and his family.
"No... no..." He sounded somewhere between nervous and amused. Not scared, at all, but nervous. "Got caught having a little tryst with a girl named Lydia James..."
Mere knew just who that was. "Holy shit, so Skylar's going to make a fur rug of you then, yeah?" She laughed. "Man, your cock got you in something big this time, didn't it? I mean, girl's hot, don't blame you, but Skylar's way protective of her. I'm not having some Slayer come after me just for getting some ass."
"Oh,, you laugh, but I may end up having to have a throw down with your lead vocalist, dear." He smirked, watching as his drink was refilled.
"...Sounds kind of hot, actually." Yeah, she made fun of Ben, but she really wasn't any better, considering what she thought with most of the time, and it wasn't her head.
"You're not helping, Meredith!" Ben laughed, running a hand through his hair. "I should have just taken the little chick back to my office like I do every OTHER girl I'm with, but noooo... she wanted to be freaky about it and do it in the restroom. And now I'm HERE."
"Oh, I was supposed to help?" Mere asked in a fake innocent voice. "Girl would be freaky about it, wouldn't she? Damn, can't even get your freak on in your own club's restroom now, eh?" She laughed. She couldn't help it. "Now you've got to deal with a Slayer with pregnancy hormones to boot. I'd hide you at my place, but that might be on her list of places to check."
"Let's get out of here for a while. I think I just want some time with my friend, without having everyone staring at us." He stood, offering his hand with a slightly sad smile.
She grinned at him and took his hand. "I'm sure this place will run fine without you for a while," she pointed out to him. These clubs kind of ran on their own most nights.
