Who: Meeghan and Neely, then Bastian and Meeghan
Where: Chloe’s Sugar Shack
When: Tuesday, June 29th
Neely hadn’t been out much since Rachelle had gotten home. Call it over-protectiveness or what have you, but she couldn’t help it. Today, however, was the first day that she felt comfortable leaving Rachelle for a long stretch of time. The fact that the bassist snuck out and shot the shit didn’t go unnoticed to the blond, and sure as hell didn’t go unpunished – as Blake was currently keeping her company. Or, keeping guard. The tiny blond werewolf made her way into The Sugar Shack, in desperate need of a coffee fix, clad in her usual jeans and plain white tee combo; she looked around in a dazed manner. Clearly, her sleep schedule had been pretty funky lately, but… she was trying to get back to normal. Or, as normal as things were ever going to be in L.A.
Meeghan was already settled at a table dressed in her usual dark colors. The singer was wearing a pair of black jeans and a black and gray tye-dyed t-shirt, and enjoying a regular cup of coffee. Her attention at the moment was drawn to an open notebook on the table in front of her as she jotted down a few notes and words to a song that just seemed to be crowding her mind leaving very little space for her to think of anything else.
After Neely ordered her special sugar deluxe (as she called it), she ambled around patiently, as it seemed poor little Mouse was busy. If someone incompetent was working, she’d be more than irritated by now, but… Mouse always seemed to know what she was doing, even if she seemed to get flustered most of the time. Neely smiled faintly at the thought as her eyes locked on a familiar figure and one of her eyebrows shot up. She hadn’t seen Meeghan since… well, best not to think about that. “Meeghan?” She murmured, keeping her tone neutral. She didn’t know what the musician thought of her at the moment, so she sure as hell wasn’t getting her hopes up for something resembling a conversation.
Meeghan peered up from her writing at hearing her name spoken. Well if this weren't close to worlds of awkward. "Neely, ah hi." The singer actually not knowing what else to say to the other woman at that moment. She had done well to keep clear of Neely and her girlfriend, and really the blond was the last person she had expected to see, even if Meeghan was in a popular establishment that was frequented by many people she knew, and had known.
"Hi," Neely replied with a small wave. Yes, worlds of awkward. The blond werewolf blushed and shoved her hands into her back pockets before asking: "Erm, so… how’ve you been?" There was something niggling at the back of her brain that she couldn’t quite place and it was driving her insane.
"I've been good, actually. Got a new place. Writing new material, and collaborating with a fellow musician on a joint venture that I'm hoping will work out." Meeghan had never really worked with anyone else where her career was concerned, but things just seemed to have clicked between her and Brandon. And things just seemed to be going well for them both at the moment. "You?" Not that Meeghan was all that curious about how the other woman's life was going, but she felt the need to ask anyway. Keep things semi civil in the public place.
"Better now," Neely replied, figuring that Meeghan had heard about what had happened to Rachelle, and if she hadn't... Well, she wasn't going to elaborate. The blond took in a breath and let it out slowly, before frowning faintly. That scent. She'd smelled it recently... But
where?
"You sure?" Meeghan question closely regarding the other woman a moment. She couldn't pinpoint it, but Neely seemed to be acting a bit off. She had heard about what happened to Rachelle, but as they weren't exactly on speaking terms with each other, and yes that was mostly Meeghan's choosing, the singer didn't think it'd be a good idea to seek out the blond and offer condolences of any kind.
"Yeah," Neely replied with a blink. Damn if it wasn't right there. She got her drink from Mouse and then it hit her. Where she'd caught that scent before. All over Bastian. Neely's eyes widened, "Say, you haven't been around with a girl, yay-tall... Goes
by the name of 'Bastian'?" Oooh, God. She wasn't sure how to feel about this.
"I know a girl with that name." Meeghan admitted, though she couldn't for the life of her figure out why it should matter to Neely. Who she was seeing at the moment really wasn't any of the blonde's business.
Oooh dear. Neely's jaw actually clenched a little there. Call it a protective impulse. "Next time you see her? I think you should ask her what her last name is, then you'll understand," Neely replied, before adding: "I... I really have to go."
"Why should it matter what her last name.... fuck, don't tell me it's Bale and she's your younger sister." That would just be fuckin great. Last thing she needed, or wanted, was to become involved with a Bale who was a close relation to Neely.
"No," Neely replied, clenching her jaw slightly before setting her hand on top of the chair opposite Meeghan's. Over-protective, wasn't she? "Martin-Bale".
"What the fuc... " And then it hit her like a load of bricks. The chick had a future kid just like herself. A thought that made Meeghan literally cringe at the thought of.
"Tell you what." Meeghan was practically growling at this point. "You stay and enjoy your coffee." She told Neely with a harsh push back of her chair to stand. "And don't worry, I'll stay away from your precious daughter." The singer turning in a rush to depart the place and distance herself as far from Neely and the situation as she possibly could.
Neely took a breath and watched Meeghan leave, giving a little grumble to anyone who looked her in the eye. Did she over react? Maybe, but that's just the way she was built.
Like Mother, Like Daughter, it seemed. Bastian was in desperate need of a sugar-fix... And where else in L.A. would anyone go, honestly? Clad in short-shorts and a clingy white tee, Bastian barely stopped short of bowling Meeghan over when she exited the shack. "Whoa, where's the fire?" She murmured, before placing a hand to Meeghan's shoulder to steady her.
"You should have told me who you were at the start." Meeghan stated harshly to the girl with a set of narrowed eyes when she found herself almost literally running into Bastian. Maybe it was a bit harsh and Bastian really not the one who should be catching the brunt of Meeghan's anger, but Meeghan wasn't exactly wanting to be around any Bales or Martins at the moment.
Bastian, who hardly showed emotion around anyone, looked genuinely hurt when Meeghan said that. She stepped to one side, allowing customer's to go in and out of the shop unhindered and tried to piece together why Meeghan would suddenly act this way. "What... Who did you talk to?"
"Your mother. She's still in there." Meeghan informed the girl with a jerk of her head back toward that direction. "I'm sure you'll both find great amusement in all this." Meeghan stated roughly making an attempt to step past Bastian. "You should have told me."
"Wait, please. Stop." Bastian took hold of Meeghan's forearm. "I didn't... I didn't think you knew each other. How do you tell someone that you're not from... around here? Literally from another world? Please, it wasn't meant to be malicious..." Her voice cracked a little there, a sign of emotion that Bastian hardly ever expressed.
"With trust," Meeghan breathed heavily with a weak attempt to break free from Bastian's hold of her arm. "I'm sorry. I can't process all of this now. I just need... goodbye." Meeghan finally pulled her arm away from the blonds grasp to step around her and out of the Sugar Shack.
Bastian hesitated on the spot, before looking up and spotting Neely. She met her eyes, tears practically welling in her own, before stalking off. Suddenly, all she wanted to do was scream.
