Cuteness Ahead
Who: Willow and Tara
Where: Ashes To Ashes
When: Saturday Afternoon - June 12
Willow was on a little shopping excursion at her favorite magic shop. The red headed witch was running low on a few wiccan supplies that a witch of her caliber should never be without. She had already chosen the candles she needed for everyday use, and the ones required for specific spells and incantations, tucked away nicely in the basket that hung from the crook of her arm. The young woman was proceeding on toward the section where the herbs were displayed. Like candles, herbs were a staple of any true witches supply of magical goods.
Tara had recently gained her employment here. She loved working here so far. Ms. Zamora, while not a witch herself, was still very knowledgible in magic, and ran a good store. She was getting ready to stock the herb section when she noticed someone standing in it. A very beautiful redheaded girl. "Um...excuse me," she said softly, carrying the tray of herbs in her hands.
"Oh, sorry." Willow smiled to the girl with a step taken back so she'd have enough room to re-stock the herbs from the tray she was carrying. "Herbs are probably your biggest sellers, well in addition to candles. I tend to go through them like "pfft"." Willow rambled a bit with a wave of her hand to accentuate her meaning.
"Th...they are the bi...biggest sellers in volume, yes," Tara said to the other girl. "Are you practicing?" She wasn't sure if the girl was a Wiccan or just liked the smell of herbs in her home. Since she had already asked, she hoped that she practiced and wasn't being presumtuous.
Willow smiled at the other girl for a brief moment before adding anything. The was just something she seemed to find endearing about the shop employee's stutter. "I practice, yes. Which is why you'll find me in here like, probably, once a week. Do you practice?" Willow asked back. With the girl working in a place like Ashes To Ashes it was pretty much expected that her response would be a yes. But one never knew as she could be working there just to make a little bit of money.
Tara nodded. "My mother taught me when I was young," she said to her. Practicing magic made her think of her mother, which was why she kept doing it, even though her father had disapproved and even tried to forbid her from doing it after her mother had died as well. He hadn't been able to stop her.
"You're new to the city, aren't you?" Willow asked softly going with a hunch. She had been in Ashes To Ashes on many occasions, but this was the first time she recalled seeing the pretty blonde girl. One who just exuded that magical aura associated with wiccans who had been practicing for years.
"Y...yes," Tara said to her. "I just transferred to UCLA after living in San Diego for a little while." She had ran away from her father's house to San Diego. Once she had gotten comfortable there, she had come to Los Angeles after hearing about what happened to Rachelle. Since Rachelle was one of the few she had known in San Diego, she decided to move here as well. So far, it had went pretty well. She could also see that Willow had a very strong magical aura around her. Not a long time practitioner, but definitely powerful.
"I'm taking a couple classes there myself." The red headed witch smiled at the coincidence. "I'm Willow by-the-way." She added with an offering of her hand to the other girl.
Tara set the tray down. "I'm T...Tara," she said, shaking the girl's hand. "It's nice to m...meet you." She hated stuttering, but she couldn't control it unless she was comfortable around a person, and it took her a while to be comfortable around anyone.
"It's nice to meet you too, Tara." Willow returned with a soft smile. The stutter was a hard thing to miss, and Willow was guessing that nervousness factored big in the girl stimbling over her words. "We should hangout, maybe, sometime." The witch offered. They already had a couple things in common, the magics thing and attending the same college. And with Tara being new to the city it might do her good to gain a friend. Willow knew how it was to move from one place to another, though she did have friends who made the move with her. So it hadn't been like she'd gone it on her own.
Tara smiled at the other girl. "I think I'd like that," she said to her. "I'm actually hear most of the time...or in Chloe's S..Sugar Shack." She bit her lip for a second. "Or at school....obviously." Between school and work, she didn't have a whole lot of extra time, but she was willing to make it for new friends and old.
"Alright then." Willow smiled back to the girl. Wasn't like they could schedule another at that direct moment as Tara did have work to do, and Willow had a mental list to fill before she'd get to the other errands she had planned for that day.
"Since you're here, and do have a tray of restock, could you maybe help me fill my list of needed herbs?"
"Um...sure..." Tara looked over at her tray of herbs. "What exactly do y...you need?" They had basically anything that a person could want here. Ms. Zamora was very thorough when picking things out like that.
"I need some Anise, Chamomile, Fennel Seed, Lavender, and some Vervain." Willow told Tara after taking a brief moment to re-compile her list in her mind. "Oh! And some Rosemary." The red head smiled a bit sheepishily as she had almost forgotten one of the herbs she wanted to buy.
Tara nodded as she started to pick out the herbs that Willow named off. "Is there anything else t...that you came by for? W...we just got a new shipment of books if y...you want to l...look at them."
Willow checked the packages of herbs Tara found and put in her basket to make sure she hadn't overlooked mentioning any. "No, I think that's all I'll be needing today." Willow told the other girl. "My book collection is pretty up to date, but I might check out what you have next time I stop in."
"Ok," Tara said to her. "Let me j...just take you to the cash register and r...ring you up," Tara said to her, carrying some of the herbs toward the cash register so that she could ring her up.
"Alright." Willow followed behind the sales girl with the rest of her purchase up to the register. Once there the red head set the basket down on the counter and waited while Tara rang everything up.
Tara rang everything up and carefully bagged it up for her, and then told her the price. "So, w...what classes d...do you take at UCLA?" Did Tara want to keep her here longer? Maybe, but she had never asked anyone out before and had no clue how.
"A Classics course and American Indian studies." Willow answered taking her wallet out of her purse to pay for her supplies. "What courses are you taking at UCLA?" The red head asked in return as she handed over the money owed to Tara.
"Oh...j..just some basics," Tara said to her, taking the money offered and putting it in the cash register, giving her back her change. "I'm a little behind because I had to move around a bit. I'm just taking a psychology course right now and a basic English. Yours sound really interesting, though."
"I thought it'd be interesting to learn about different cultures and their ways of life. The study of human behavior must be interesting though." Willow offered having accepted her change back and slipping it into her wallet before dropping that back into her bag.
"That d...does sound interesting," Tara said to her. "Human behavior is interesting, too. I...I've been enjoying it a lot." Just going out and being around people had made her feel normal. For a girl so shy, she liked to be around people on occasion. Not always talking to them, but being around them made her feel more normal, well, as normal as a witch could feel.
"I'm glad for that." Willow smiled collecting up her bagged purchase. "Would hate to think that the class bored you to tears." The red head commented jokingly.
"Oh no," Tara said quickly. "I don't think that any sort of learning could bore me." She blushed. "That sounded silly didn't it?"
"Maybe just a little." Willow smiled. "But I promise not to hold it against you."
Tara smiled at her. "Thank you. I really hope to see you again," she said to Willow.
