Packing
Who: Brandon and Catherine
Where: Their Apartment
When: Tuesday Afternoon, June 15
While Brandon had borrowed the money for the trip more than a few months ago, Brandon and Catherine had booked the trip for the summer, so that it wouldn't interfere with Catherine's class schedule. It just so happened that they had booked themselves to fly out on on Tuesday, a few days after Ben and Skylar get married. So, at least they wouldn't be missing that, right? Right now Catherine was in the back of their apartment in the bedroom, packing together a suitcase for herself. "Don't forget to pack a jacket!" she shouted across the apartment to Brandon, whom she believed to be in the kitchen. "It can still be kind of chilly at night." Well, it could be to people who didn't grow up in it, anyway.
"Please. If I get cold I'll change into a wolf and curl up on your feet. I don't think a jacket's gonna make much of a difference." He really DID love gently teasing her... "You know... it occurred to me that I haven't had a chance to tell you about my newest musical endeavor..." He was actually VERY excited about his meeting with Meeghan, he'd just been SO busy preparing for Ben's wedding that he'd not found the time to tell Catherine all about it.
"I'm not sure how much my parents are going to enjoy that," she said, although she was fairly certain that they'd tease her more for dating a 'dog' than anything else. "What new musical endeavor?"
"Have you either heard or met Meeghan Gregory? She and I have both been sort of in musical limbo..." He grinned excitedly, "But we met by chance at Chloe's place, and we're gonna work on some songs together. Hopefully it'll lead to something permanent, maybe even a band."
She nodded. She had actually watched her perform a couple of times at Club LA, so she was more than familiar with her. She was just relieved that the woman seemed to only be interested in women. "Sounds great," Catherine said, grabbing some more clothes and, after shoving them into the suitcase, sat on it to try and close it. "You really think it could lead to a full band?"
"I hope... she's got REAL talent, and we seemed to really click instantly. We felt very comfortable with each other, like we'd been friends for years. You need that to really work as a band." And thankfully, it was clear by his tone and expression that, no matter how attractive he may admit that the girl was, he really DID merely think of Meeghan as a friend.
It wasn't that Catherine didn't know that Brandon didn't love her with all his heart and would never hurt her. She didn't trust the female population around him. If she knew that her guess about Meeghan had been wrong and that she actually would 'swing both ways,' she'd probably lose her shit. Anyways...."Good. I know how much you've been wanting to have a band and everything."
"Well... I could have tried out for Suicide Messiah when their last guitarist left, but..." he gave a low whistle and a roll of his eyes. "Let's be honest here. Chloe likes me WAY too much. I'd want to light myself on fire after twenty minutes."
Catherine laughed. She STILL sort of held a grudge against Catherine about hitting so severely on Brandon way back when. Sure, she didn't want to strangle the girl, anymore, but she still sort of worried. "Why would you want to light yourself on fire?" she said between giggles.
"It's just a saying. Like... when something annoys you so badly you'd rather torch yourself than deal with it for a second longer." And there it was, really. The REAL reason Chloe likely didn't bother Catherine anymore. The fact that, looks be damned, Brandon honest was too ANNOYED by her to ever even want her, even if he were single.
OK, so that was true as well. Catherine just liked to hear it. She smiled at him. "I wasn't aware that someone could annoy you so much that you'd want to light yourself on fire," she said to him. "Still, I hope that you and Meeghan end up making some sort of band together."
He actually snickered at that, shaking his head. "See, the fact that you say that? Means CLEARLY you don't know Chloe. Nice girl. Seriously. But she and her sister are just... GOD, they're like living, breathing rays of fucking sunshine. Nobody can be that naturally perky ALL THE TIME."
"It's called sugar, Brandon," Catherine said to him. "They are hopped up on the coffee they are selling all the time. It's amazing that the two of them aren't diabetic." It really was. Well, they probably would be one day.
"Not like you don't hang with some strange people though." He pointed out with a teasing grin. "I'm still convinced Stone's mother dropped acid while she was in the womb." Ouch... Yet, with how odd Sin is? Was that assumption really so far-fetched?
"Hmm...might explain her clumsiness," Catherine mused. She finally got the suitcase to snap so she hopped off of it. Unfortunately, this was when she noticed just WHY it wouldn't buckle because a shirt was sticking out. With a huff, she undid it to try the whole process all over again. "Do you think Kim will be alright here on her own?" she asked.
"Honey. Kim can take care of herself. If it would make you feel better I'm sure we could get. Bretton or Bronte to watch her for a few days..." Was he finding this sudden, awkward maternal streak amusing? What do YOU think?
She shook her head. "Maybe check in on her, make sure she and that Kowalski girl aren't setting our apartment on fire, but I don't think she needs to stay with someone." Now Catherine had someone else to be protective over. Was this a good thing or a bad thing? "I'm not sure how well my family would take a daughter from the future, although I think my mother would enjoy a granddaughter to dote on, and MY grandmother would find it hilarious, but it's probably better that she stay here." Yet she was proud that apparently she had taught her daughter Russian, or had spoken it enough that her daughter had picked it up. Strange things made her happy.
"That girl is just CREEPY. But... yeah. I think we can trust her. Although the house might be pink when we come home..." He mumbled with amused aggravation.
"Please don't let her paint the place pink," Catherine muttered in a soft prayer. "Have you finished packing yet?" She didn't want them to be running late for the flight.
"Cat. I'm a guy. I was done packing fifteen minutes after I started." He smirked, giving a 'what're you gonna do' shrug. "I threw some clothes, a couple books, and my game boy in a suitcase. Done."
She glared at him. "You suck," she said, sticking her tongue out at him. Then she finished closing her own suitcase yet again. "There. I think I'm done."
"Thank god. Now let's get to the airport already... This trip is gonna be awesome." So Brandon was a tad bit excited. Problem?
