Something Unexpected Who: Bastian and Meeghan Where: Venice Beach Boardwalk When: Tuesday, June 15
Bastian had been thinking on it ever since she'd spoken to Uncle Dave when she first arrived and realised… that given that she was in a new place, she didn’t have to put up with people and their prejudices, especially their dislike for her real name, thus, she would introduce herself by her real name to those she met from now on and if they chose to go by her nickname, well… she couldn't blame them for that. The beautiful blonde was currently walking along the Venice Beach Boardwalk, browsing the shops with casual interest, alone, dressed in short-shorts and a black Broken Sunrise tee, her long hair loose over her shoulders as she walked along with a curious grace.
She loved to shop, personally, but more than that, she loved to browse, not only the items, but also the people she came across in her travels. She was a curious creature, after all, and right now, she would use any excuse to be out of the apartment. She stopped at one of the shops and picked up a pair of pink tinted sunglasses, before looking at her reflection in the provided mirror.
"I would go with the black and pink tiger print ones." Meeghan commented to the blonde she happened upon checking out sunglasses at one of the shops on the boardwalk. Meeghan was out that Tuesday dressed in a pair of black jeans with a chain belt, a black tee with a large skull plastered on the front and a pair of black combat boots. Her hair was dreadlocked, the way she had been wearing it for the past couple of days. The young woman was out checking on a couple leads she had gotten for new living quarters. Things had been going well for her at Full Moon Records and Meeghan felt she could finally move out of the small studio apartment she had been living in since moving back to L.A.
"Oooh," Bastian murmured, before trying them on. She thought she looked cute in them, but then, she thought she looked cute in everything. She tipped the glasses down to peer at Meeghan. She recognised her, of course. Only… she remembered the much older version of her from an Alternate Universe, who also happened to be the mother of one of her friends. "Good call," she said with a faint smile.
Meeghan smiled at the girl thinking she wore the sunglasses well after getting a better look at the blonde. The ones she pointed out though, Meeghan felt would give the girl a bit more character. "Just a knack I seem to have."
"It's a good skill. I'm terrible shopping, really. I take too long," Bastian replied honestly, before buying the glasses and plopping them on top of her head. She gave Meeghan a subtle once-over before offering her hand to shake, "Bastian."
"Bastian? That's different and unique." Meeghan smiled accepting the girl's offered hand. It was much like the girl herself, who Meeghan found more than slightly attractive. "Meeghan." The ebony haired singer offered with her hand lowering back to her side after the two shook hands.
"Like 'Meeghan' isn't unique," Bastian replied with a faint smirk. She'd always liked the name, personally, even if she never got the chance to say it back home. "Are you… overly busy right now? I think you might be the cure for my clothing dilemma." She paused briefly before adding, "That being my lack of ability to find anything decent."
"I find it to be too similar to Megan to be all that unique or different. Bastian on the other hand is pretty original like the person wearing the name." And Meeghan really didn't need to consider the offer the girl made. She had checked out two apartments near the boardwalk, and the others could wait til later. Her time would be better spent spending time with the beautiful blonde. "Not overly." Meeghan smiled softly. "In fact I've got the rest of the afternoon free to help out a lady in distress." She smiled teasingly.
Bastian couldn't help it but smile at that as she led Meeghan back outside, "Oh yes, because the difference between a green or blue halter-top is clearly a matter of life and death." Oh. Oh my, was that a joke? "Well, okay. Maybe in my case it is." She giggled. "But more than that, I'd like the company. If you think you can handle it," she teased.
"Sweetie I can handle just about anything you choose to throw my way." The singer smirked knowing just what her comment might insinuate. It was a good way for Meeghan to feel the girl out. See just what she might be made of.
"Don't tempt me," Bastian replied with a smirk before leading Meeghan into another store. This time, however, she picked out a pink t-shirt and held it up to Meeghan's chest. "Oh yes. Totally your colour." Okay, so she couldn't help herself. This was fun.
"You're kidding, right?" Meeghan said with a 'are you kidding me' look. The young woman then laughed softly and offered out a better suggestion. "I think it would look more adorable on you, Bastian." Pink was just something Meeghan never did. The color was just too girly for her personally.
"Probably," Bastian agreed, "but you can't blame a girl for trying, right?" The teenager grinned(!) before setting the shirt back on the rack and browsing some more. "So, can I ask what brings you out today?"
"Apartment hunting." Meeghan answered as she moved over to the next rack to browse through the shirts hanging on it. "And dude, this shirt is TOTALLY you." Meegs smirked pulling the pink t-shirt from the rack with Tinkerbell on it along with the words World's Greatest Flirt and held it up for Bastian to view. It wasn't the actual saying that Meeghan thought fit the other girl, but the character herself. In her mind Bastian resembled the cartoon character greatly. Both were utterly adorable looking. And if Meegs could bed any cartoon character of her choice it would definitely be Tinkerbell.
"Tinkerbell?" Bastian replied with a raised eyebrow. She couldn’t help it but giggle, though. "I never saw it before," she admitted, "I could totally pull off the outfit though," she added, just teasing the other girl with the mental image. What? Whoever said that she was a Saint?
"I think you totally could." Meeghan stated softly moving closer to Bastian to hold the shirt up against her. "And I think the shirt would look absolutely adorable on you." She smiled catching the other girl's gaze for a brief moment. "You have real pretty eyes." Meegs murmured softly brushing her fingers across the girl's cheek and then tucking loose strands of blond behind the other girl's ear. Meeghan then stepped back and moved away to resume her perusing of the t-shirt rack.
One of Bastian's eyebrows perked up and she looked down briefly, trying to hide her surprised smile. "Thanks," she replied, before circling around to the opposite side of the rack, giving Meeghan a curious look before going through the t-shirts slowly. "So… apartment hunting? How's that going?" Oh wow. She was flustered. That never happened.
"Got one possibility," Meeghan responded glancing back over to Bastian, "and a couple more to take a look at." Normally Meeghan wouldn't have backed away from a bold move she had made, but for some reason the young woman felt the need to give the girl a bit of space. At least Bastian hadn't freaked from the brief come-on.
"Why are you moving at all, if you don't mind me asking?" Bastian murmured, keeping eye contact for a moment before giggling and rolling her eyes. "Sorry. I ask too many questions, sometimes." Especially when she was interested in someone, but shh. That's just a world of complicated that she doesn't want to think about right now, despite the obvious attraction that was there.
"If you've seen my current apartment you'd understand." Meegs told her with a half, breathy laugh. "It's a small studio apartment the size of a closet. Figured that since I can afford an upgrade why not move into something bigger and better." And a place near the boardwalk would definitely be just that.
"Sounds reasonable," Bastian replied, smiling at Meeghan's laugh. It was a nice sound and not something she usually drew out of people. The blonde narrowed her eyes thoughtfully, "Are you hungry at all? ... I could use something to eat." Because yes, coffee really didn't count as a healthy breakfast now, did it?
Meeghan so wanted to comeback with a sexually implied remark, but the woman managed to refrain from possibly making the girl reconsider her hinted at invitation. "I'm not famished, but I could use something to eat myself." If Bastian could tolerate her company, then Meegs was more then willing to spend more time with the girl. She was attracted to the blonde, and Meeghan had a feeling the attraction felt was mutual.
Well now, weren't they both on their best behaviour? "Well then, let's see what we can find, hm?" Bastian replied, raising a slender eyebrow.
"Lead the way Babe." Meeghan placed the Tinkerbell t-shirt back on the rack before following Bastian out of the boardwalk shop when the girl started moving toward the exit. If things progressed past today, Meeghan would return to purchase the pink Tinkerbell t-shirt.
Bastian stuffed her hands into the back pockets of her short-shorts as they walked along. Honestly? She hadn't felt so ... Well, light-hearted since she'd arrived. Funny, huh? "I think there's a waffle house up here," she suggested.
"That'd work for me." Meeghan smiled giving a side glance to the girl as she walked beside her down along the boardwalk. "After we eat maybe we can do a bit more window shopping." It was an attempt on Meeghan's part in getting the opportunity to spend more time with Bastian. It was the first time in quite a long time that Meeghan wasn't just after bedding a girl; she was actually wanting to get to know Bastian better, and not just in the biblical sense.
Normally Bastian would have hit on Meeghan by now, said something flattering or… overly sweet but interestingly enough, she couldn't think of a thing. She literally couldn't find the words to do that, which was… a world of amazing right there. I guess Meeghan really made an impression, huh? "That'd work for me," she replied with a sweet little smile.
