What to Do?
Who: Jeremy and Catherine
Where: Basement of Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: Wednesday, 6/9
The Hyperion still wasn't quite set up for normal practice in right now, so Catherine was more comfortable sticking to the Sugar Shack right now for training. Well, she was also always worried about killing another piece of Jeremy's furniture in what was now called the 'Coffee Table Incident' where she got carried away and body slammed Jeremy into a coffee table. Right now she was practicing her punches and kicks on a punching bag while Jeremy stood to the side and critiqued. Which, for Catherine, mostly meant that he stood by and watched as she wailed on the punching bag.
Hey. To Jeremy? Standing there watching beat having Catherine go batshit ECW crazy and put him through another table like he was goddamn Sabu or something. When she started to calm down, he raised a brow and sighed.
"Ok, so... Your skills are getting better and better but... I'm a liiittle concerned about how... intense... your temper is getting during combat."
She took a deep breath before answering. "I really do not know where that comes from," she admitted. Funny thing was that she was typically such a calm person. Maybe this was her way of venting or something?
"I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but... What if you lose focus? Get yourself or someone else killed?" For once, rather than making glib comments, Jeremy looked DEADLY serious. "I don't want anything to happen to you, Catherine. Also? I'd like to be able to have us train with Iris around and not have to worry about her seeing me get destroyed."
"You just don't want your future wife to see you get your butt whipped by a nineteen year old girl," she said quickly. Still, he had a point. "I don't want to be like that. I don't want to accidentally hurt someone like that. I don't know how to change it, though."
"Ok, there's that too." He cracked a smile and put an arm over her shoulders. "But I still say we find a way to work through your anger issues before Mad Dog Baclanova hurts someone."
She nodded. "What can we do about this, though? I don't even understand why it happens." OK, she also got mad when a girl so much as *looked* at Brandon as well. Could we fix that as well?
"Its just a temper thing. We just gotta work on helping you learn to control your emotions before you end up like Wesley's slayer, only worse.". Jeremy wasn't even insulting Gwen: he just knew she had a penchant for immaturity and showing TOO much emotion, which would likely prevent her from ever being a leader-figure.
Catherine usually had control of her emotions, which is why she typically MADE a good leader. "Maybe I am just getting too pulled into the adrenaline rush?" she suggested, after thinking on it for a moment. She knew that he wasn't insulting Gwen. Gwen WAS too emotional at times.
"It seems, to me, that you get a little... too angry when something you see as 'yours' is threatened. Whether it's something attacking me, someone flirting with your boyfriend, etc." He sat down slowly, rubbing his forehead as he tried to explain his thoughts. "I think THAT is what we need to figure out: why you get so possessive of things and people you see as yours."
She nodded. That was definitely right on the money, so to speak. It was every bit as bad when someone hit on Brandon. She all but raged when a girl did that. "I really don't know why I get so possessive, though. I've never been deprived or unloved or lost someone."
"Well then? It just gives us more of a reason to make it stop. I mean think logically: I'm your watcher and with YOU around? Nothing's gonna hurt me." And then? The truly 'aw' moment. "And we both know Brandon's smart enough to know he's not going to find a better girl than you, so why worry?"
She nodded again. "I know that. I know nothing should happen to you." She smiled at him when he said the other part. "Well, let's hope that Brandon is smart enough to realize that. I think he does."
"Exactly. Now... Let's see what we can do about reigning in Mad Dog Baclanova..." He teased with a wink as he got to his feet, walking back to the bag. "No rest for the wicked, you know..."
