Who: Mere and Ginny
Where: Eden
When: Monday Night, 6/7
Mere walked into Eden, intent upon a night of fun and possibly some debauchery that involved some cute little goth girl with WAY too much make up, more than likely. Still, right now she was just hoping to get a little bit of her drink on right now. After discussing it with the bartender (in other words, pleading and begging) she convinced him to give her a few beers.
Well damn. Usually a girl who was completely kind and polite, Ginny had just told about 4 different people to 'piss off' tonight, as she sat at the bar, sipping a little at a glass of vodka. Hey. She wasn't much of a drinker, ok? It didn't take very much. After her breakup with Lexi, she wasn't exactly feeling very sociable. So why was she here? Here's the nice way of putting it: her issues in the past? Would never be totally healed. And those scars on her arms? Let's just say she was in public to avoid the temptation to add to them.
Mere got a good look at her and knew quickly that something was up. She may not have been exactly feeling social, but, a girl who wrote songs like that? Had issues, obviously. SO, Mere walked over, beer in hand, and sat with her. "What's going on?"
"Meredith." Ginny mumbled with a nod. Funny how the last time they'd met, they'd hit it off so easily, and had ended up really bonding and laughing. Now? Ginny just felt like maybe she'd never feel like laughing again. Melodramatic? Yes, but come on. Arent most artists?
"Not an answer to my question," Mere pointed out. "And don't tell me to piss off because I ain't got the intelligence to listen to you. So, might as well tell me what happened because, YOU, drinking...something obviously did."
"Well..." She began, knowing Meredith would get the meaning behind this, without her having to say the words that still hurt so badly. "At least my next album will be nice and angsty again. They always say the best artists are miserable."
Oh yeah, Mere caught her drift. "Aw, fuck...really?" she asked "I'd ask what happened, but I know you don't want to talk about that." Shit, just what did Lexi DO?
"All I feel like saying for now is this: at least she had enough respect for me not to cheat on me. Not that it helps right now. Nope... nothing but copious amounts of alcohol are gonna help with that tonight." She mumbled, holding the glass up and looking into it.
"Thank the gods for small favors then," Mere said, taking a swig of her own beer. So, she didn't have to go smack Lexi upside her head RIGHT now then. Good. "And you need a better drink then vodka then. Well, at least not straight vodka. Because this is a night to get to' up, and you're just gonna sip at that."
"Yeah, well... I'm just hurting right now. And trying my best to stay here so I don't do anything stupid. I can't just throw everything away now... not after everything I went through already." Was she talking more to Mere or to herself?
"Sure, stay with me then. I'll keep an eye on you." She didn't know just what Ginny had done to herself before, but she had enough of an idea to know that her being alone was a bad idea. "Hey! Barkeep! Get my buddy here something sugary with tones of liquor, STAT!" Even over the music, Mere could easily be heard.
She pulled down one of those elbow length gloves then, staring for a few seconds at one of the long, thick scars that went down the underside of her arm. Sometimes... she just had to look at them to be reminded of what she DIDN'T want to do again. "I'm not gonna sit around and sulk. I can't."
Mere definitely caught an eyefull of that. "Wasn't saying we were gonna sit around and sulk, dear," she pointed out. "What part of 'to up do you not understand? We're gonna dance and drink and be fucking merry."
"Why not?" She asked, "I mean... I'm an attractive girl... I have a lot to offer... I can't just let this bring me down...." Of course, it was all but obvious that she was trying to convince HERSELF of this all.
Mere sat there as the bartender brought over two of what looked like strawberry margaritas. She had managed to drain her beer already, so she jumped on the margarita then. "You're a hottie, babe. Don't forget that. Now drink this." She shoved it Ginny's way.
"Oh... now... this looks like something I can like..." Sadly, Ginny HATED the taste of alcohol. So something that looked like a smoothie? Hell to the yes.
"See? I got you covered," Mere said to her. Besides, it was these or 7-Up Slammers, which people usually only lasted through about three or so.
"...why do you care?" She asked, not being bitchy or mopey or anything other than just... curious. "Not being a jerk... just... we barely know each other, outside of sharing a few laughs and talking about jamming together sometime. You could just walk away and let me sulk, and instead you're pissing away YOUR night trying to cheer me up."
"Because I can't stand to see a frown on a face that looks that good?" Mere semi-joked. OK, she actually couldn't, but anyways..."Because underneath the sleaziness is an actual person who is actually caring on occasion. You gonna look a gift horse in the mouth? And why the hell did I just basically compare myself to a horse?"
"No horse looks that damn good, Delany, so dont worry about it." Hey, wasn't like she had to hold anything back NOW, huh? "Kinda ironic... I get to celebrate Gay Pride Month by getting dumped by my girlfriend."
"Hey, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Gay Pride Month that don't have to do with getting dumped, babe," Mere said to her. "Plenty of pretty things running around this club that you can work out some aggression with."
"That's the problem... I'm not really that type. I don't usually just... grab some cheap girl I don't even know and get groiny with her, you know?" Cutely enough, Ginny actually whined there, as if she was UPSET that she wasn't like that.
"Damn, don't say it like it's rocket science!" Mere said with a laugh. "Trust me, it ain't. Because you and I both know that you had more than a few fans that want to get all groiny with you. Not hard to find."
To see Ginny, this usually calm and rational woman, FLAILING? Priceless. "I don't just get... 'groiny' with random people, Meredith! That's not who I am!" Then the capper, the part that would likely shock ANYONE: "Including Lexi, I've only been with two people in my LIFE!"
Mere arched an eyebrow. "Really? Damn, I was with two people last NIGHT," she told her. Mere wasn't known for her purity, obviously. "Wow...seriously?" It was actually as if she couldn't believe it was possible.
"Yes, seriously!" Ginny snapped with a DEEP blush, feeling allll kinds of embarrassed right now. "I'm not really comfortable enough with myself to just... let any old person see me naked, ok?"
"Girl, we have got to buy you a better mirror," Mere said. "Unfortunately for you, you are hot. And yes, I saw the scar on one of your arms and I still think that." She had kind of already guessed that was what she was hiding under those gloves, although she didn't know the extend of them.
"Trust me... the scars arent why I'm not comfortable with myself. They're the RESULT of those feelings." She admitted, possibly because of the drinks making her a little less restrained.
Mere nodded. "Kind of figured that, too, actually." Most people aren't shiny and happy when they do it. "Still, I think you're hot."
Did Ginny blush there? Hell yes. And considering she was almost as pale as Mere was as a vamp? It was OBVIOUS. "Th-thank you. That's very flattering, actually."
Mere wanted to kick in the face the person who may have made Ginny feel this way about herself. OK, it may not have been anyone, but it if it was, she wanted to kick them in the face. "You're welcome. You're obviously not told that enough."
"Funny enough? I've had a lot of people tell me. I guess..." She sighed, realizing this part just now. "I guess there's a difference between being told... and having someone make you feel that way. I know she didn't mean it, I really do... but Lexi just made me feel SO ugly, so unwanted..."
"Look, what Lexi did is not your fault, nor any actual saying on your worth. Trust me when I say that sometimes, people can't control who they have feelings for." Mere had been there AND seen it in action. "You, however, will find someone who will love you for you, and make you feel like the sexiest person alive. I'm just saying that it wouldn't hurt you to have a little fun in the meantime. Besides, someone wanting to sleep with you is usually an indicator of the fact that you are attractive."
Ginny had to laugh there, downing the rest of her drink. "Well, I have to admit you're probably onto something there. I've actually had normally STRAIGHT women hit on me, which I still find amazingly flattering"
"Well, good then!" Mere said to her. "I've turned some formally straight women gay, which, by the way, is the ultimate flatterer." She grinned. Hey, she was proud of that. What of it?
"Oh yes.. we've all heard the legends of Meredith Delany. Admittedly, it's mostly from back when Paige hated you, but still." She laughed there, realizing just how far they'd ALL come since then.
Mere chuckled. "I *am* a legend in LA. Well, I'm becoming one, anyway." Since Mere had slept with about half the denizens of LA, she was becoming a legend, anyway. She didn't even discriminate by gender.
"I admit to being a tad jealous over a few of the women you've been with. A few are very, very much my type." The best part here was that if totally sober? No WAY would Ginny be having this talk in public, with a girl she barely knew.
"No need to be jealous," Mere said to her. "You are more than welcome to sample the lovely talents of Meredith Delany herself, if you're OK to do so." Was Mere suggesting they hit the bricks and head back to one of their places? Yes, but she didn't want the girl to do anything she didn't want to do.
OhmyGAWWWD. Ginny turned BRIGHT red there, as that was SO not what she meant. Not that she found Meredith unattractive, not at ALL, but still! "Are you....? I mean... not... ME? Really?"
"Yes! You, really!" Mere said with a giggle. "Seriously, I'm not gonna make you do anything that you don't want to do, I'm just throwing up the offer."
Ginny raised an eyebrow, even now being the girl who always thought a little TOO much about things. "...I just don't want to ruin the chance to do that musical collaboration we spoke of..."
"Look, if you can't separate a night of fun and a budding friendship, I can understand. I can, though," Mere told her. "I"m leaving the ball in your court. You're not gonna hurt my feelings if you say no."
"I... I think I'm going to give in to my curiosity and blame it on the alcohol." Which was her way of saying 'hell yes', as she got to her feet. "I'm trusting you to not... spread this around?"
"I can be discreet when necessary," Mere said. Besides, she didn't want people to think she was taking advantage of Ginny, either. Sure, SHE knew that Ginny was of sound mind, but would others believe her? Maybe, maybe not. "Let's pay our tab and get the hell out of here then."
