Time To Figure Out Who Ya Really Love
Who: Courtney and Lilly
Where: Eden
When: 5/18, Night
Lilly sat in Eden, twirling an empty beer bottle around as she waited for the waitress to bring her another. She wasn't really in a bad mood, more of a non-mood, which, according to those that didn't know her well, was more of her general mood than anything. However, the few who did know her might as what was up. Nothing really was up, which kind of bothered her. Yes, she saw Stephanie all the time during band practice and such, but sort of worried that they weren't connecting properly or something. Were they too different? She really wasn't sure what to think about that.
Courtney flitted in quietly, like some kind of sprite or fairy, so languidly and lightly that one wouldn't be surprised if she'd been floating. She wore a long, simple-but-sexy black gown that accentuated her young but still beautiful curves, and the pale, stoic blonde found herself glaring at the stupid 'Under-21' wristband she had to wear as she made her way over to the bar, waiting for someone to wait on her.
Oh, Lilly's eyes caught the pretty little 'pixie' that came into the bar. Of course, the 'under-21' band on her wrist caught her eye as well, but wasn't she already breaking a couple of laws with Steph? Girl was in high school, and Lilly was old enough to buy beer. Still, no hurting in looking, right?
Courtney felt someone looking at her. Sigh. Those eyes started to turn red, and those thin lips curled into a little scowl, but as she turned... well, no harm HERE, right? Nice-looking girl, seemingly harmless enough, not some stupid boy... the eyes returned to normal, and she merely raised an eyebrow. "Do I know you or something?" She asked in that monotone, as the girl seemed vaguely familiar.
Lilly shook her head. "Think I'd remember you," she said in a fairly neutral tone. She looked at the girl for another second before saying, "I play the drums in The Lazarus Project, though. We play here a good bit."
"Ah-hah..." The little blonde said with, what for her, amounted to a smile. "I'm quite a fan of your band's music." Oh, what absolute charisma, hm? "My name is Courtney. You... are Lilly, correct?"
"Thank you," Lilly said. She was always pleased to meet a fan. "Yes, I'm Lilly Maymin." She offered the other girl her hand.
So, did Courtney sort of find Lilly, Ginny, and Stephanie all ridiculously sexy? Yes. But shh. "My girlfriend, unfortunately, isn't as into your style of music. But I hope to one day make her see the err of her ways." This was the great part about how Courtney talked. She was so robotic, so monotone, that you honestly couldn't tell when she was serious or playing.
Well, Lilly talked much of the same way, so she was able to read it better than most. "Let's hope so then," she said to Courtney. "Mind if I buy you a drink?" She glanced down at the bracelet pointedly. "A soda, obviously."
"Obviously." Courtney said with juuuust a hint of a wry smirk. "Of course." Hey, it was a drink, right? Like Kimberly would care. "I firmly suspect I might light someone on fire before I leave tonight..." She said, scowling at a young boy who couldn't seem to stop staring at her. "I truly, completely despise boys."
Lilly chuckled softly. "Most boys are deserving of it, so feel free." Did Lilly realize that Courtney was a witch and could totally follow through with such a threat? No, but it was amusing to think of the tiny girl doing just that, so why not?
"Boys are a waste of time. Their only true use is the propagation of the species. Other than that they should be kept in cages like animals." Holy shit. Courtney was... really interesting, huh?
"Truer words have never been spoken," Lilly said, looking at the bartender when he brought over her beer and Courtney's soda. She raised her beer to Courtney. "That's an idea I can toast to."
"Of course... it may also just be that I find humanity in general to be flawed and mostly not worth the skin they're made of. But Kimberly also tells me I might be slightly too hateful at times." She shrugged with a sigh, clinking her glass to the bottle.
"Well, you had me on the male part, anyway." Lilly never had good luck even being in the same room as men. She didn't have the crazy witch powers, but, otherwise, she reacted to men hitting on her the same way Courtney did. With pure menace. "There are a few people out there worth keeping around." She took a sip of her drink. "Most aren't even quite human, though," she muttered into her drink.
"Well. Now isn't THAT the truth." Courtney said with an amused smirk, letting her eyes change again, this time in plain view of Lilly. "And I believe that says a lot for my previous statement."
Lilly arched an eyebrow. "You, too, then, huh?" She was almost getting used to this stuff now. Sure, in the music scene, you ran across both literal and figurative vampires a lot, but it was still sort of wonky for a human like her at times.
"You'd be surprised at the things I'm capable of. Or... perhaps you wouldn't, actually." She'd heard about Stephanie, and what she was. "Come to think of it... compared to your guitarist... I suppose I'm not all that impressive." And that? She meant in several different ways.
"I'm still not sure I'm clear on exactly WHAT Stephanie is," Lilly admitted, and there was more behind that statement than she realized until after she said it.
Funny enough, Courtney caught all the meaning there. She was a sharp girl, and caught onto things quicker than a lot of people. "Ah. Allow me to convey a small piece of wisdom that I have learned in my short time upon this wretched earth." Wasn't she just the life of the friggin' party??? "Sometimes, the things that make you happy aren't what you think they are. Or even what you want them to be. Instead, they're right inn front of your face, and you're simply too blinded or unwanting of happiness to grab them."
"Well, I'm not unwanting of happiness or really even blind to it," Lilly admitted. "Going for what would make me happy would just be...complicated." Why was she talking so much about herself tonight? Did she feel a kindred spirit with this girl? Maybe. "Very, very complicated."
"Part of me... loathes being happy. Truly, completely loathes it." Perhaps Courtney was feeling the same, because she also rarely opened up like this. "I feel happiness is equal to weakness. And weakness is death."
"Now it's time to pass some sage advice on my part," Lilly mumbled to herself. "Happiness isn't equal to weakness. Happiness can even give you strength if you'll let it. It'll give you something to live for."
"Yes. I... am learning this. Kimberly makes me happier than I even feel comfortable being. She makes me...." she scowled a little there. "..smile. And she even defends me, even when I *am* the one who was wrong."
"Then that's true, retarded for you love right there." OK, maybe one reason Lilly didn't speak much was because of her strange use of the English language. "That's something you got to treasure right there."
And, lo and behold... the little witch BLUSHED there. "She's simply stunning. Her smile lights up the entire room. I see other people look at her, and I feel the sudden urge to destroy them."
"Yep, definitely love," Lilly said, like she was an expert or something. "I bet your girl even finds the death threats to others cute, doesn't she?" Now that was what Lilly wanted for herself.
"She does, actually. And she gets very upset when others are put off by them." Which really? Courtney found adorable. "Am I to take it that the person you're... smitten with does the same for you?"
"The death threats? Not much around me, but who knows what she says to other people. She seems the type, anyway." Especially with the demon part of her backing her up. "Definitely protective, though."
"I, personally, find your vocalist to be..." yep, another almost-blush. "quite jaw-droppingly attractive."
"Ginny? Yeah, she's hot," Lilly said. "She's very happily taken, though. Lexi Wilson is a very, very lucky woman." Let's just hope she realizes that.
"Wilson. Really." Well there was something interesting she didn't know. She'd seen Lexi around the Sugar Shack, hanging out with Chloe, but never really thought much about her. "You know... for some reason, I find you surprisingly easy to converse with."
"Yep, that Wilson," Lilly said to her."And I was just thinking the same as well, actually. Most people think of me as the 'Terminatrix' or something."
"Hm. I supose some of us merely pick and choose who we wish to associate with a bit more... carefully." All this emotion was gonna make someone cry, seriously. Jesus, did Courtney even HAVE a heart in there?
"Well, I actually somewhat like most of those who say it. They just don't know me as well as they think they do is all." Lilly was pretty sure she had NEVER said this much to anyone outside of Ginny, Paige, or Steph.
"At times, I suspect my parents think there is something wrong with me. I don't... like the things most young girls do. I don't communicate quite like most girls do." And just when you might be feeling bad for her? "Also, most young girls don't frequently plan the bloody, painful demise of the people they loathe."
The last part made Lilly chuckle. "You seem fine to me, even with the frequent plans of people's demise." Shows what type of people SHE ran with. "I don't think there's anything wrong with you."
And that? Actually made the girl SMILE. Yes. You read that right. Courtney Kowalski SMILED. "Well. Then perhaps yourself and Kimberly are a rare, rare breed then."
