Another Day, Another Bale
Who: Mere and Bridget
Where: Avarice
When: Saturday night, 5/15
Mere was hanging out at the bar in Avarice, having finished a show a little while earlier. Now the DJ was playing some music that she was enjoying greatly while sipping at a soda. Sure, she could have a beer, but her tolerance was way gone after becoming human again. That was fine though. Made her a cheaper date. She swung her legs from the bar stool as she enjoyed the music.
It wasn't the only club in the city, but it was family owned in the form of first cousins. And it was for the sole reason alone that Bridget patronized Avarice as often as she did, and it was why she chose that Saturday night to head there for a couple drinks and a bit of relaxation. That, and possibly chat up one of her cousins for a bit of catching up on each others lives.
"Give me a Manhattan." Bridget requested of the tender while sliding herself onto a vacant stool. And it wasn't until she had the looked forward to drink in hand that Bridget swiveled on her seat to dare a glance around the place to see if any glimpses were caught of any familiar faces.
It actually took Mere a second to catch the new girl (or new to her, anyway) that had come into the bar. She had a fairly familiar look to her (all of the Bales resembled each other a little bit, after all), but Mere didn't recognize her. Of course, this just made her VERY curious about her, even if curiosity killed the damn cat. Just meant that the cat wasn't good at finding out stuff.
Mere swiveled around in her seat until she was facing Bridget's direction. "Hey," she said to her. "As horrid of a pick up line as this sounds, never seen you around here before. New to town?"
This had been one of the main reasons why Bridget chose to seat herself at the bar right off. To avoid any attempts being made to try and pick her up with lame pick up lines. That was not to say that further into the night she would be suseptible to come on lines, or even use one or two of them herself on a party of interest. It was just that Bridget wanted to relax and enjoy herself for a brief stint first.
"Can't say that I am." Bridget answered glancing over toward Mere just as her ordered drink was set down in front of her. The woman had that vague look of familiarity to her, but Bridget could place her at the moment. Maybe Mere had just been someone she had passed on the street once or twice.
"Damn, thought I knew everyone that came to this joint," Mere said. "That's what I get for having a job these days. Far less time for going out." And, while Mere certainly would NOT turn down the chance to go home with this girl, her need to pick anyone up tonight was passive at best.
"A job shouldn't keep you from going out and enjoying yourself on a regular basis." Bridget told the other woman. "And if you're a regular or semi regular of the place I'm surprised I have seen you around here." Bridget frequented Avarice enough to know now most of the regulars to the club by sight, Mere unfortunately didn't seem to fall into that category.
"I'm a hostess and part owner of Saints and Sinners, which actually does eat up a good part of my time. I like the job a lot though. Basically a bit of a party scene and I get to look at hot naked women for free so I can't complain," Mere said to her. "I'm Mere by the way. Mere Delany."
"Saints and Sinners? You're kidding, right?" Bridget questioned, though the look on the woman's face indicted that she wasn't anywhere near skeptical of what Mere had just told her. Though she had visited the place once or twice purely on a business capacity, Bridget knew the place well. And that was solely due to the strip club being partially owned by her cousin, Benjamin Bale.
"Nope not kidding at all," Mere said to her. "Gotta say that it's kind of a dream job really. Well, other than playing in an up and coming band that is."
"We all have our own little versions of what a dream job is." Bridget relayed to the other woman with faint traces of a smirk. The brunette then sipped her drink before continuing on. "I'm Bridget Bale by the way." Bridget grinned slightly knowing the last name would be instantly recognized by the other woman even if she weren't.
"Ah another Bale then," she said with a smirk of her own. She briefly thought about asking if she was from the future or not. She decided against it. "Nice to meet you."
"I'm taking that to mean you know other Bales outside of my cousin, Benjamin." The Asian looking woman smirked back. "Pleasure to meet you, Mere Delany." Bridget said with an ever so obvious glide of her eyes downward over the other woman's seated form. Mere was quite the good looking woman to look at, if nothing else.
"Oh yeah, definitely have met more than a few," Mere told the other girl. She couldn't help but give her an appreciative glance over herself. She hadn't ever had the chance to experience the joys of the Orient, after all. "Pleasure's all mine," she said, smiling back at her.
"Not sure if that should be taken as a good or bad thing." Bridget chuckled lightly knowing some members of her family weren't so easily gotten along with. "You know if I get a couple more of these," the woman lifting her drink as if to emphasis her point, "I'd let you show me just how much of a pleasure it is to have met me." Feeling a bit more relaxed now Bridget didn't restrain herself from letting out just was on her mind.
"I think of it as a good thing," Mere said to her with a bit of a smirk on her face. Oh, it had definitely been a good thing for her so far, and she was pretty sure her good luck streak with them was going to continue to night, if you catch her drift. "Then maybe we should order you a few more of those drinks then," she told her playfully.
"Straightforwardness," Bridget smiled to the other woman, "a trait I find appealing in people. Nothing like being direct and to the point when you see something, or someone, that catches your interest." And Meredith certainly did that, Bridget wasn't going to deny or try and hide the fact that she found herself more then a little bit attracted to the other woman.
"Yeah well maybe I've just realized over the years that lying really does get you nowhere," Mere said. "Well, nowhere that I want to go anyway." She laughed. She was enjoying herself with this woman so far.
"Usually doesn't, sweetie. Learned that many moons ago. The path to go with is the open and honest one." Bridget paused a brief moment to enjoy a little more of her drink. A good drink and good company were always a welcome thing to Bridget Bale. "Doesn't leave the other person with any misguided expectations."
"I am definitely looking for te good path," Mere said to her. She was dying for the good and at least semi easy path at this point.
"Maybe we can find that good path tonight. Together." Bridget's grin hinting to there be more behind the words she had just spoken. It hadn't been on her agenda when she first entered Avarice, but Meredith was too good a thing to just let go without an attempt made to try and get to know the woman a little bit better, well at least in the biblical sense.
"I'm willing to walk a path with you for a while," Mere said to her with a grin.
"One night at least." Bridget smiled back to the woman. She wasn't looking for anything of the long term kind, but a one or two night stand was well within Bridget's realm of usually relationships.
"Long enough journey for me," Mere said to her, finishing off her own drink. Oh she would be more than happy to share a night with this girl.
"Lead the way then, my gorgeous, dark haired friend." Bridget downed what remained of her drink, tossed enough bills on the bar to cover both their drinks, and then slid slowly off her stool. Oh yes, tonight was having a better ending to it then Bridget had anticipated when she first walked into the club. Sharing a bed with a warm body was always a good thing in the book of Bridget Bale.
