Going Clubbing...Never Thought I'd Have to Say That With Wes
Who: Wesley and Liz
Where: Eden
When: April 15th, Evening (It took us a while to get this finished. What of it?)
Wesley walked up to the outside of Eden and sighed. He hated clubs. He didn't mind getting a drink at a bar now and then (although he preferred pubs), but he disliked clubs for the most part. They were noisy and full of insane young people, and those were just the human ones. With a sigh, he walked inside after paying the cover, then scanned the room to see if he could find Liz.
Now, keep in mind that most people that knew Elizabeth Todd rarely saw her doing anything other than working, sitting at home, or having tea or coffee at a quiet little diner. So imagine Wesley's surprise at seeing her out on the dance floor at Eden, dressed in a sexy little black miniskirt, slowly doing a rather... sensual dance to the beat of the music ("Kiss My Lips" by Bon Voyage).
He had certainly *not* seen her done up like that and dancing like that before. It was certainly interesting, to say the least.
Liz was lost in her own little world, really. The stress had been bogging her down, between her job, worrying about Selinda being out there fighting God knows what, and Wesley training girls just like Selinda... she had a LOT of worry. So this was just what she needed. As the song finally ended, the blonde gave a sheepish little grin as she turned and spotted Wesley watching her. Oops. She shuffled over to him, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind one ear. "Um... heh. Hi?"
It wasn't a bad gaping or whatever that he was doing at her, but more just amazement. "I've never really seen you dance like that, before," he said to her.
"I, ummm... don't really do it much..." She mumbled, a little embarrassed. "I... wow. Ok, so, embarrassed now." She actually blushed, HARD. "I havent really danced since I was probably... around 23 or 24."
"Sort of wish you'd do it more often then," Wesley said with a slight smirk. He couldn't help it. It was very interesting to see a different side of her in that way.
"Oh, aren't YOU cheeky." She said as she swatted him playfully. "Mind if I sit down, or do I have to go back out there and 'entertain; you more?"
"No, sitting down is fine," he said, laughing a little. "And I've been known to be a bit cheeky on occasion. Rare, but it does happen."
The blonde doctor leaned a little against him then, letting out a content sigh. "How's everything been? I hate how little we've been able to see each other lately."
"Things have been getting better," he said to her as he led her to a table. "Gwen's getting a lot better lately. I'm actually relieved because of the fact that she's starting to act like her old self again."
Liz giggled then, shaking her head. "I still haven't properly met her, although I've caught her watching me a few times, at the coffee shop and places like that... like she's trying to decide if I'm 'worthy' of you..."
"She...might actually be doing that," he admitted. "She's sort of protective like that, after all." He just hoped that she wouldn't end up calling Liz Dr. McJugs or whatever she liked to say.
"Selinda... says that Gwen is possibly the most offensive human being she's ever met." The blonde chuckled, trying not to burst into uncontrollable laughter. "She says that nearly everything that leaves Gwen's lips is 'vile and rather unladylike'. Heh."
He actually laughed at that. "I'm sorry that they don't get along, but that basically does describe how she talks. She's a very sweet girl, though, and has a good heart. She doesn't deserve the grief she gets in her life."
"Oh... Oh, honey..." Liz smiled, trying to explain to him, "Selinda doesn't.... dislike Gwen. And I don't think they DON'T get alone... it's just... Selinda is a very 'special' girl. She doesn't understand why some people act the way they do, and I think Gwen really, truly confuses her."
He nodded. "I can understand that. Gwen herself is a bit hard to understand if you don't truly know her as well." It was something that he was used to by now, actually.
"Well, I'm sure I'll properly meet Gwen eventually. When she's ready. And I'm convinced she won't break me in half." She laughed, only half-kidding. "I love you, Wesley, but I'm still not ready to be destroyed for you."
He laughed at that. "I highly doubt she'd actually do anything to you like that," he said to her with a grin as he ordered himself a drink.
"Ah-hah!" She said with an infectious grin. "You 'highly doubt' it! That in no way says ' Elizabeth, I'm totally sure Gwen wouldn't take your life'. In NO way."
"Oh, she wouldn't take your life, Elizabeth," Wesley said to her. Now, would she beat her up if things went south? That he couldn't promise.
"I can't help it... sometimes I can't tell if she's doubting me, sizing me up for a fight... or picturing me naked. It's hard to tell with her, Wes!" She said with a blush, cracking up at her own admission. "On the bright side... at least we have the government funding for our med unit almost complete. When that's done, if she or any of her friends get hurt, they'll have somewhere they can go to get the proper treatment."
He decided to not tell her that Gwen might actually be doing all of those things. "That's a relief to hear," he said about the next thing he told her. "We've had so many close calls before because we couldn't take go to a regular hospital." He remembered once removing bullets from Gwen himself. Not a fun experience.
"I think it's coming along nicely. For now we're still sort of... using code to do things right at the hospital, but once Carly gets us the official government funding, we can get a facility of our own." She looked SO excited, a big, adorable smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Totally off-topic, but... I missed this. Just... being out with you."
"Hopefully that government funding will kick in soon, then," he said to her with a smile. "And I've missed this as well. Being with you, anywhere, for that matter."
"It's taken a lot to get used to this. This new knowledge about how the world really is, I mean." She admitted, that infectious smile spreading across her lips again. "But I'm glad I know it anyway. It helped me finally understand my sister, and it led me to you. Both of which I thank God for, every single day."
It was knowledge that he had grown up with, though. Knowledge that the monsters under the bed and in the closet could be very, very real and would do worse things to him than he could have ever imagine in the mind of a child. "I'm so happy to hear you say that," he said to her, a smile on his face.
"Well, trust me... I couldn't be happier SAYING it. I feel like my life is finally coming together." And then she burst out giggling, like a little girl, really. "No matter HOW terrified I am half the time."
"Well, unfortunately, in this life, being terrified is par for the course," he said to her. "Something that you never quite get used to."
"The girl they put Selinda with seems very nice. Very... understanding of my sister's issues. She needs that. Someone kind. I understand completely why YOU couldn't be her Watcher... but if it can't be you, I'm glad it's her." She'd actually been wanting to get to know Hope better, maybe get more insight into her younger sister's new life.
"I really do think that Hope is the perfect girl for Selinda," he told her. "She's as patient as a saint and very understanding.I think they are a good match."
"Funny, considering I think I'M the perfect girl for YOU." She said with a sweet purr. She had NO idea how to be lovey or romantic, but damn it, for Wesley? She'd sure as hell learn to try.
"I think you might be right on that," he said, pulling her closer after wrapping an arm around her waist. "I think we should get out of here. What do you think?"
"I could certainly think of worse ways to spend my evening than with a handsome man... come on. We'll do whatever you want. Your choice." See? This was Liz trying to adapt to him more, learn to like what HE liked.
"Why don't we just head to my place and we'll see how things go?" Wesley asked her, being thankful that the darkness of the club hid the fact that he was blushing just a tad.
"Now... THAT is an idea I can get behind." She said, standing and taking his arm sweetly.
