Hoping for a Little Comfort
Who: Buffy and Kevin
Where: Van Warren Estate
When: Saturday, April 24th, after Buffy's Fight with Zee
Buffy walked all the way to Kevin's house from her fight with the War...thing. She really didn't know what to call her. She was way stronger than any random vampire or demon she had ever encountered, and, if what she was telling her was the truth, then she needed to talk to Ash as well soon. However, tonight she wanted a little bit of comfort. She was still sore and bruised all over, as Zee had given her quite the workout, and not a fun one. When she finally got to Kevin's door, she rang the bell, praying that it wouldn't be Chloe or Lucy who answered it.
Kevin did answer, looking, well... 'fabulous' as always. He was wearing silk pajamas, still had his makeup on, and looked more ready for one of Hef's parties than anything. He smiled when he saw Buffy... but that smile fell immediately when he noticed her state. "Buffy? What,... what happened?"
"Bad night on the job," Buffy said. He was just lucky that little miss war had gone a bit easy on her, and still kind of kicked her ass. Buffy had just happened to kick her ass right back. "Can I come in?"
"Of course..." He said quickly, helping her in with a guiding hand, thanking god that Chloe was out for the evening and that Lucy was pretty much holed up in her room writing music. "Are you alright, honey?"
"I'll be alright. Honestly, most of this will be gone by tomorrow," she told him as she walked inside. "Just ran into some psycho demon...thing. I really don't know what the hell she was."
"I don't know if I'll ever get used to demons and all that stuff..." He mumbled, but nonetheless gently helped her onto his lap as he sat back down on the sofa. "Anything I can do to help? I mean... except fight the thing? Because I think I'd be more useless than Lucy in a Health Food store."
"There really is no getting used to the demon thing," she said to him. She giggled at his joke. "Comforting me is certainly a big help," she told him.
He leaned in, kissing the side of her neck as his hands clasped around her stomach, pulling her back to his chest. "I think I can do that..."
She shut her eyes and leaned against him. "Just what I need," she said softly. She knew she'd have to call Ash later, but right now all she wanted was comfort. "So, what did you do today?"
"Helped Lucy with a few songs she's been writing, making sure some of the lyrics would sound good sung in my style... she's on a damn MISSION with this, I swear. It's fairly awe-inspiring." He knew he couldn't REALLY talk to her about whatever had happened. He wouldn't understand, and couldn't give her the type of help she'd need. So he chose, instead, to try helping her forget it, at least for a little while.
"That's good, you know, that's she's inspired and all," Buffy said. Buffy had the musical ability of a dying toad, but loved to watch others get into it. She was definitely a music fan.
"We're going to record it the moment it's done... we're going to release a collection of re-recorded stuff from our indy days to keep us in people's minds until then." He said as he grinned mischievously, placing sweet little kisses up her back, shirt be damned.
She nodded, shivering just a tad when he started to kiss her. "That's good," she said to him. "Good to keep yourself in people's minds."
"Sort of like how you manage to keep yourself in mine. Constantly. Awake or asleep." Sweetly? He wasn't lying. He always managed to mention her in almost any conversation he had with ANYONE.
"Really?" she sat up a little and looked at him. Well, she didn't know what he talked about when she wasn't around, after all.
"Always. Long before you were my girlfriend, when you were simply my friend..." he let his hands trace down her hips and thighs a little. "You were always the most amazing woman I've ever met."
She smiled. "You're a fantastic guy, too," Buffy told him. "I kept comparing guys to you and they were never quite measuring up. Guess it really was fate or something."
"Maybe we should have that engraved in our rings one day when we get married." Aw. Note he said WHEN, not IF. "Fate... or something."
She laughed. "Sounds pretty good to me," she said to him. So, she didn't get weird about the idea of getting married. Good sign.
"And just a warning... I think we're going to be hijacked into going out with Lucy and Ash soon. Seems the two of them are trying to get to know some new friends or something." He snickered, shaking his head, not TRYING to sound mean. "Ash is apparently becoming very good friends with Rachelle's wife. Which has SO much comic potential."
"That is so weird to think of," Buffy said. "Ash being friends with Neely." She didn't know Neely or Rachelle very well, but both seemed kind of loud and wild for Ash's taste. Then again, what did she know? "And it's kind of weird to technically be going on a double date with an ex."
"An ex? Try a still-underaged formerly dead sister!" He laughed, that little giggle slipping out again. "The 'ick' factor is cranked up to 11 there..."
"We lead weird lives," Buffy said after a moment. Really, his sister had been brought back from the dead and she was a Slayer.
"Yet... these weird lives brought me my sister back, and gave me you. I really don't think I can complain." He left out any little snide jabs about Ash, knowing he and Buffy had gotten close again.
Yeah, but it was a different type of close than before, or maybe the same close but they weren't mistaking it for something else. Whatever. "Then I guess I can't complain, either."
