Meet the Parents
Who: Josie and Isabella (Open to Meeghan, Isabella, and Josie in tags)
Where: Ashes to Ashes, then Meghan's Apartment in Tags
When: Friday Afternoon, 4/23
Was it a bad thing to admit that she was willing to dabble in magic in order to get herself sent back to where she felt she belonged? Sure, Josie's home life wasn't much to be envious of, but it was what she knew. This place was unfamiliar as it could be and still technically be the same city filled with mostly the same people. She really had no idea what to make of a place where Isabella was still somewhat normal and Meeghan wasn't constantly touring around the world and avoiding all sort of responsibility with her daughter. She hadn't even went to see her biological father yet because she had no idea how he'd react, and he was one of the few people that she LIKED. No, she wanted to go home now. At least at home she understood what was going on. Which is what lead her to this place. It was the only magic store that she had ever known of, being owned by another Watcher (and future Giles honey) Delilah Zamora. It had apparently only recently opened, which was fine with her. It was HERE. Right now she was flipping through books to try and find the right spell to send herself back.
Isabella didn't have much luck finding Josie when she tried, but she figured that either that was the point and that Josie didn't want to be found, or... maybe she'd just gone back home. Either way, she thought Delilah might be able to help. With a location spell or just pointing her in the direction of an inter-dimensional traveler looking to go home. What she didn't expect, however, was to practically walk into the girl. Although when she did, she had a slight scowl on her face. Uh oh. The Drill Sargent has made an appearance. "Where have you been? I've been worried sick."
Crap. One of the two people that Josie didn't really want to run into right now, especially with books of spells surrounding her. "Hello to you, too, Drill Sargent," Josie snapped at her. "I've been scraping by, you know, finding stuff to eat, thinking about what I should be doing to get back home where I probably belong. You know, the usual. How am I supposed to even know that you're looking for me? Did you ever think about that instead of just getting pissed at me?" Oh, Josie had been through such situations with Isabella many a time before.
Isabella's jaw clenched irritably. She hated being called Drill Sargent, even if was an accurate word for how she got, sometimes. "I suppose I might have overreacted," Isabella murmured, before pinching the bridge of her nose. "But if you were raised by me you might have had the tiniest inkling that I'd be worried."
"Maybe," Josie said simply. She shut the book she was reading so that Isabella couldn't look at it. "So, other than apparently looking for me, how's it going?"
Isabella was always good at detecting when someone was hiding something from her. She raised an eyebrow at Josie, but let it go. "Okay. I spoke to 'Meegs mom' recently." Yes, and that went over well. "She'd like to meet you. ...You've been okay, I take it?"
Yeah, Isabella had always been good at that with her. "She'd really like to meet me, like, she's actually around to do so?" Josie arched an eyebrow right back at her with that bit of knowledge. "I've been doing OK. Getting by."
"She came back to meet you," Isabella replied. Although there was something in her voice that was a little... off. "I could take you to her." She nodded. "And if you've inherited even half of my stubbornness, I know you won't accept my help willingly, but that's what mothers are for. Even alternate versions of your mother. So let me help you."
She wondered what her mother would say if she had just told her to fuck off? Probably not listen at all and try to drag her off to meet Meegs Mom. So...no real point in fighting this, now, was it? "I'll come and meet her, but in a public place. What about that coffee shop that the drummer chick owns? The Sugar Shack? We can all meet up there and have a happy little family reunion."
"What the hell did we do to you to make you so jaded?" Isabella asked, not one to mince words. "Fine. If that's what you want."
"You'd be amazed," Josie said. "And yeah, that's what works for me, so let's go with it."
Isabella's eyebrows shot up again, and the poor thing looked about ready to cry, of all things. She pursed her lips together, "Meet us in an hour, then." Since she had to tell Meeghan, after all.
