Reunion
Who: Skylar and Remy
Where: Avarice
When: 4/20, Tuesday Night
Remy hadn't been to Avarice before, although for the life of him he couldn't think of a reason why that was, now that he was here. The music was great, and there were a lot of beautiful women to look at. He was currently sitting at the bar, nursing a beam and coke. His blonde hair was starting to get long again, so he opted to slick it back this evening. He was a tall 6'4, even sitting down, he couldn't hide his size. He had broad shoulders and a nice layer of muscle under his clothes. Instead of wearing his favorite rock god attire (which mostly consisted of leather), he decided to wear ripped jeans and a collared shirt. Blue, to match his eyes. Women liked color coordination like that. He smirked as he watched the bartenders at work, giving a buxom brunette (CJ, he'd heard someone calling her) a very appreciative look as he waited for his 'date'.
And by date he meant that only in the most friendliest of manners, since it was Skylar James (soon to be Bale) who came into the club and sat down beside him. She hadn't seen Remy since the days of New Orleans that had gone by, when she was just some rich girl trying to start a band and raising a lot of hell while she was doing it in an apartment above Bourbon Street. She was relieved to hear that her old friend had just gotten out of rehab, and had invited him to come and see her at Avarice. She walked in wearing a loose green top and jeans, but there really was no hiding the bump that was starting to really show in her stomach. "Good to see you again," she said as she sat down. "It's been quite a long time, Remy."
He looked at her face and smiled, before his eyes traveled further down to her stomach. "A very long time, cher. I see congratulations are in order." He raised his glass.
"More than a few congratulations, actually," Skylar said, holding up her left hand and showing the massive rock of an engagement ring that she had on it. "Thank you, though."
"Good God. Whoever you're with doesn't waste any time, does he?" Remy chuckled. Good for her, though. He ordered himself another Beam and Coke, and a water for her. "This is what I get for neglecting my friends."
She laughed. "Let's just say that Benjamin Bale isn't known for his time wasting skills." She looked him over. "Well, there's always time to make up for neglect," she pointed out to him.
"The Benjamin Bale? Well. You're really stepping up in the world," he teased, before giving her a playful shoulder bump. As for the other thing? "Yes, I suppose. It will take more work for some then others, though," he added sourly, thinking of Natalie.
"Yes, that Benjamin Bale," Skylar said with a bit of a smirk. "As for others, some things will take time and patience. Not sure how much you have of the latter, but now you have much more of the former." What with the lengthening of his lifespan now that he wasn't on drugs.
"True. I have patience where it counts," he added with a cheeky smirk. "Although I'm embarrassed to admit I've replaced one addiction for another." He paused, letting that sink in. "Candy apples. Can't get enough of them."
"I'd rather you have bad teeth than other health problems, darling," Skylar pointed out to him with a slight smile of her own.
"Well, yes. You'd have more time to spend with my handsome self, that way." He grinned. While she was certainly his type, he'd never hit on her, in all honesty. They'd comfortably reached that 'friend zone' a looong time ago, but that didn't mean he was beyond teasing her. Almost like an older brother might. "Can I ask you your opinion on something?" He asked, his voice deathly serious.
"I would rather spend more time with you, anyway," she told him. "And you can ask my opinion on anything. Go right ahead."
He paused for dramatic effect before leaning closer to her and giving her a Cheshire Cat grin, "Do you think that bartender is single?" Yes, this was a serious matter, after all.
Skylar laughed. "Well, I've never seen a boyfriend pick her up, but that's about as good as I can tell you."
"Good to know," he replied with another grin. While he enjoyed sleeping around with the best of them, he didn't want to get between couples. There was just too much drama there. "I think pregnancy agrees with you, cher. There really is a glow."
"Thank you," she said to him with a smile. "I feel like I've been pregnant all the time, so I hope it agrees with me."
"I suppose that's true. Still, I'd prefer 'parental supervision'. How did you acclimatise to it so well? I never thought you'd have children so young," he admitted.
"I didn't exactly expect to get pregnant so young, either," Skylar pointed out. "Neither were planned, honestly. Maybe some things are just fated to happen." Sometimes she seriously wondered if that was true.
"Maybe," he nodded thoughtfully. "They seem to have mellowed you out some. I'm not sure if I like that yet. Maybe because you've grown up faster than me," he grinned.
"You talk about me like I'm still a teenager," she teased him. "I'm twenty-five. I'm practically an old maid by the standards of where we grew up." Most of the girls she had went to school with had been married for at least a few years and had at least two children. She was behind, in that aspect.
"You forget I'm a few years older than you, cher," he murmured. Literally, a few years, though. "I'm allowed to think that you're still a child, no?"
"Well, you're allowed to *think* it," she said playfully. "Doesn't mean that it's true."
"Fair enough," he replied, nodding firmly. "If this new partner doesn't treat you well, he'll have me to deal with." He doubted that was the case, given that she had impeccable taste, but still, the threat was there. She was always able to bring out the protective side in her friends, after all.
She smiled. "I'll make sure to let him know that," she told Remy. She was noticing now just how much she had been missing him.
"Good, cher," he grinned and since he couldn't stay all too serious for long, he said: "You'll have to introduce me to all your single friends."
"I'm actually starting to run low on those," she said jokingly, or really not so jokingly, because she was running low on them. "Mere's single...damn...I think that might be it...wow."
He laughed then and shook his head, "I never thought you'd be a good influence," he teased. "Still. I'm on my best behavior." He put up his hand in salute and everything, despite the fact that he'd never been in the boy scouts.
She laughed when he said that she wasn't a good influence. "Was I ever one?" she asked. "And I'm sure that you'll be nothing but a gentleman."
"Good point," he replied with a grin as his eyes roamed the crowd. "As for being a gentleman? Well. I'll try".
"Now that sounds more like it," she said, smirking at him when he said that he'd try to be a gentleman.
