Shopping!
Who: Lucy and Cassie
Where: One of the malls in LA
When: Saturday Afternoon, 4/10
Only a week until Prom and neither one of them had a dress picked out yet! Ugh, how did she get so behind in this again? Such a terrible thing to do. No use crying over it now. Lucy herself was in 'power shopping' mode at the moment, basically dragging Cassie around from store to store. Of course, with her discerning eye, nothing had been good enough just yet. Not for her, and certainly not for Cassie. She was back with Andrew now, whom Lucy still sort of wanted to smack for being so stupid as to go for someone else other than her friend, but she was willing to forgive him. This time. He did it again and she'd sic Ash on him in a heartbeat. Let's hope for Andrew's sake that he didn't do it again. Lucy pulled Cassie into another shop. "Let's hope that this place has something decent for us," she mumbled. So far she had sorely been disappointed.
"Yeah. Let's hope." Cassie mumbled, looking more like she was headed for a Nazi prison camp than a clothing store. "Everything's starting to look the saaaame..." She whined, knowing she needed to have... a rather important talk with her friend, but not knowing if this was the time.
"Everything kind of is starting to look the same," Lucy muttered. Kind of sucked, to tell the truth. That and it was aggravating! "Still, we've got to find something good to wear."
"This is prom. You know more about this stuff than me..." Cassie looked a little (cutely) concerned. "Are we going for classy, sexy, or somewhere in-between?"
"Somewhere in between," Lucy said as she began to look through a rack of dressed. "Of course, we've got to show Andrew just what he's been missing for you, too."
"Lucyyyyy..." Cassie said with a whine, "we've been over this! Yes, with the right makeup I can look pretty. But I don't really have the body to pull off sexy."
Lucy simply rolled her eyes. "All sorts of body types are sexy, Cassie," she told her. "And I've seen how Andrew's been looking at you lately in the shop. He definitely does not agree with you there."
"Yeah, well..." She gave an impish grin there. "One thing about the short time I was with Jason? Kinda taught myself some new stuff. Andrew's gonna blow a GASKET on prom night..."
Lucy giggled. "Good for you then!" she said with a grin. "But we've got to give him an appetizer before the main coarse! Which is where the dress comes in."
"You know... you're kinda skanky." Cassie said with a smirk, repeating what Lucy teasingly told Cassie back when they first started hanging out. "So what's been going on? I haven't seen ya much lately."
"That's what makes us such good friends then," Lucy teased with her own smirk. "As for me, not much. Got approached to be in a bad with another Bale kid." Even though he was technically older than her, she was really about eighteen years older than him. Life is screwy ain't it? "Still thinking about it."
"So things still going good with Ash? I know you guys are kinda an odd couple, but... yer TOO cute together, seriously." Granted, Ash creeped her out a little, but he and Lucy were so obviously in love... it just made her smile.
"Yeah, things are going great, actually," Lucy said to Cassie. "We're planning on going to Prom together, obviously, as well." Should she tell Cassie that he had proposed to her? Sure, he had wanted to keep it a secret for a while, but why hold something like that back from her best friend?
Funny enough, Cassie had been thinking the same thing, about secrets. And now that they were in a store that was mostly empty, she whispered over to her. "Lucy? I know sometimes... this supernatural stuff freaks you out, but... we kinda need to talk about something. About my foster sister."
Oh, if only she knew how little the supernatural stuff could freak her out these days. "OK, what's going on?" she asked. She didn't know what Cassie might have to do with the stuff, though. "What about your sister?"
"She's, um... I kinda made her. Sorta." Cassie gave a comically nervous grin there. "She's a robot."
Lucy blinked. "I actually didn't realize that robots were real," she admitted after a moment. "How did you *make* her exactly?" Well, this was certainly a surprise.
"Its a lonnnng story. But, the 'real' Bette died a while back. I made her to make Mr. and Mrs. Matthews feel better." Cassie sighed, shaking her head. "I wasn't telling ANYONE, but, you know Talia Portman, from school? She kinda... found out by accident. And if she knows, as my best friend you have a right to."
Lucy nodded as Cassie told her the short form of the story. "So your sister, who's been here all the time that I've known you, is actually a robot?" she asked. "That's actually kind of neat. Not that the other Bette died, obviously, but that I know a robot and didn't even realize it! How does she seem so...real?"
"I never even knew the 'real' Bette. She... Ok, seriously long story so, short version? The robot-making process involves some magic." She rolled her eyes, "and somehow, I think my spell combined with a bigger one being cast at the same time, and kinda made her this way."
"Wow, talk about all sorts of screwy magic hopping off of one another," she said. "Sometimes I really think that magic does more harm than good, but then it brings things about like your sister, who, if you didn't tell me, I'd have never known she was a robot, which is really cool." Lucy was a bit confused about it. She just couldn't believe that she had never known!
"Well, I wasn't gonna tell ANYONE, but... God, Lucy, I think Talia might be falling for her, which is all kinds of odd." She sighed, wondering if that could possibly end well. "So.... Yeah. I just don't like keeping anything from you."
"She's falling for your sister?" Well, she wouldn't say it out loud, but that was a little weird. But, if it made her happy, then whatever. "Well, there's something that I should tell you, too, but you got to keep it to yourself for now. Ash asked me to marry him!"
"HE WHAT?!?" Cassie practically shrieked, "HOLY CRAP!" Then she quieted down a little then, eyes still wide, "dude! You're sixteen!"
"Well he didn't mean that we'd get married tomorrow, Cassie!" Lucy squealed. "It's gonna be a long engagement, and not one that I'm telling my family about right now because they would totally flip, so you have to PROMISE not to tell anyone, OK?"
"My lips are sealed, honey! Congrats! OhmyGOD! This is crazy! You and Ash! I mean granted I can't even picture either of you with anyone else but... Wow..." Was she babbling? A little.
"At least this means that I'll have a long time to plan for the wedding, you know!" She looked around the store they were still standing in, reaching over and grabbing a red dress. "You know, I think this will look good on you."
"Red? Oh em GEE, Luce. Red is like, for sexy people like YOU." Cassie blushed, shaking her head furiously.
"Try it on anyway," she said, handing the dress to Cassie. "Who knows? You might like it."
"Ok, ok..." She sighed, knowing Lucy did NOT take no for an answer when it came to shopping. She took the dress, and headed for the fitting room.
Lucy followed her to the dressing room area, standing outside the door while she tried it on.
After a few, Cassie walked out, looking remarkably... SEXY in the dress, although her nervous fidgeting made her seem awkward. "Ohhhhhhhhmygawwwwd... I feel so sleazy and lame."
"Oh my god Andrew will die," Lucy said with a smirk. "You look great. You've got to trust me on this. Would I let you go out looking ridiculous when, among other things, it would look bad on MY shopping expertise?"
"True, true. Well, I know you know your shopping. Ok, I guess now we just gotta find one that'll make Ash lose the ability to speak..." She giggled, sweetly hugging the other blonde.
