There's Something I Need To Tell You Who: Isabella and Meeghan Where: Over the phone When: Thursday, April 1st
Isabella had been considering calling Meeghan for five agonizing days. On the one hand, she told Josie that she didn't want Meeghan involved - that she doubted the musician even knew about the supernatural, but on the other hand? She felt selfish for keeping something (someone) so important, to herself. Although there was a small part of her that wondered if she was a masochist for wanting to call. Or if she was just... incredibly foolish for doing so, and yet here she was, dialing the contact number Meeghan had given her.
She paced the length of the living room before flopping soundlessly onto the couch, curling herself up to face the backrest, as she so often did when she called Meeghan.
Meeghan had been sacked out on the sofa at her parents house when the phone rang, it had been where she retreated to to re-prioritize her life after all that had happened back in L.A., and rang, and rang, and rang. That was the usual scenario when a call came in, no one wanted to be bothered with answering the land-line. They all waited until someone else picked up and found out who was on the other line. This time was no different. "Oh for christ's sake." The dark haired musician grumbled pulling herself up from the couch to trudge over into the hall to answer the damn machine. "Gregory residence." The young woman answered sounding a bit miffed that she had been required to do just that.
Isabella balked for a few seconds, still silently debating as to whether this was a good idea. She sighed, trying to remember the last time they actually talked, "Hey Meeghan. It's... it's Isabella."
"Isabella? Hey." Meeghan stopped abruptly on her way back over to the couch when the caller identified herself. Not that she wasn't wanting to talk to the other woman, it was more Isa's phone call had caught her completely off guard. "How are things back in L.A.?" Asking as she settled back on the couch after getting her feet to finally move again.
The Watcher smiled faintly as she absently picked at the fabric of the couch, "Things are good. A little chaotic, at times, but... good. How about you? How have you been?"
"I've been doing good actually." Meeghan smiled even though it'd be unseen by the other woman. "Actually played a couple gigs since I got back to San Diego." Which meant that Meeghan was making her own money and not completely mooching off her parents.
"How long were you planning on staying there?" Way to skirt around the reason you called, Isabella. Well done, she thought, irritably, as she tried to make herself comfortable.
"Yeah. About that. Maybe another couple of weeks." Though Meeghan was all too sure on that, she did though still have a signed contract with Full Moon Records and could only be gone so long before problems might start arising.
Isabella pursed her lips together. A few weeks wasn't so bad, was it? She sighed and sat up, crossing one leg under the other. "Babe... Meeghan, there are a few things that I think I need to tell you about. If at the end of it you think I'm insane? Well, I wouldn't blame you, but hear me out?"
Well that instantly got the younger woman's attention and Meeghan sat up a bit straighter. "What's wrong, Isa?" She questioned not liking the sound of the other woman's voice. If something were wrong where Isabella was concerned Meeghan would be on the first flight out of San Diego as it would be the quickest way of getting back to L.A. Sure Meeghan couldn't be what Isabella had been wanting at the moment, but that didn't mean she had ceased caring for the older woman.
The Watcher took in a breath, deciding for the 'ripping off the band-aid' approach. "Nothing's wrong. It's just that... I'm not sure if you know, but. Vampires, Demons, Angels - they exist. And so do alternate dimensions, which is why I called. It turns out we have a daughter in one of them." She took a breath then, wondering if Meeghan would worry about her sanity, of all things. "Who also happens to be here now."
"Daughter? Alternate dimension? And you know this how?" Sitting up perfectly straight now Meeghan grabbed one of the throw pillows and set it on her lap with her free hand. Vampires she knew existed. The same could be said about werewolves and possibly angels and demons, but alternate universes with future children of hers. That was a little much for Meeghan to wrap her head around. "I mean are you just taking the girl's word for it?"
O-kay, Isabella was expecting a little more resistance to all of that, to be honest. She sighed and dragged her fingers through her hair. "I am taking her word for it, yes. Other children have come here and frankly the resemblance is astounding." Although it was her first name that cemented it for Isabella, although she hoped that she didn't have to explain why she'd chosen that name for Josie. "You don't have to meet her if you don't want to. I actually told her that I didn't want to... tell you, but after thinking about it, I realise that was a tad unfair."
"Hold on," Meeghan barely able to refrain from snapping back at the woman on the other end of the conversation, "you didn't want me knowing I had a daughter? If in fact she is our daughter from an alternate realm. And damn straight it was a tad unfair, quite unfair of you to even have thought of making that decision on something like this. This is something you would have no right in keeping from me Isabella."
Isabella never claimed to be the smartest person on the planet, but still, she shouldn't have told Meeghan that. She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, "Which is why I'm calling you now, Meeghan," she replied, keeping her voice cool and detached. "What you do with that information is up to you."
"Well, I'm certainly not going to disregard what you told me." Meegs replied coolly back. If Isabella thought she was going to stay in San Diego and do nothing the other woman didn't have a clue what Meeghan was all about. "I'll be in L.A. in the next day or two." Or as soon as she could catch a flight out of the city. If there was a girl going around saying she was the daughter of herself and Isabella, Meeghan was damn sure going to meet her and check the whole situation out.
"Right, then," Isabella replied, pursing her lips together as she nodded against the receiver. "Is there... never mind. I suppose I'll see you soon," she said curtly. "Fly safe."
"You'll be the first stop I make when I get to L.A." Meeghan pointed out to the other woman. There was much more she wanted to talk about. Wanted to know, and a conversation such as that wasn't fit to be had across phone lines. "I'll see you soon, Isa." Meeghan said before she hung up on her end.
