Robot Jokes
Who: Bette and Talia
Where: Shooting Star Comics
When: Thursday, April 8th
Talia was in a cheerful mood as she made her way into Shooting Star Comics, wearing jeans and a clingy Darth Vader t-shirt, her long blonde hair tied back for a change (and still, remarkably, streaked with red), with her laptop slung over her shoulder and the world's largest cup of coffee in one hand. She smirked when she spotted Bette, "How's my favourite T-101?" She asked, teasingly, before rounding the counter to plop her laptop behind.
"Oh, a Terminator joke, how *original*..." Bette said with a wry little smirk. "And I see... just because I'm an H.R.D., that means I'm not WORTHY of a big honkin' cup of coffee. Real nice, T." But then, since they were alone, and Bette wanted to say what was on her mind, "thanks, T. For not, you know, freaking out on me."
Talia rolled her eyes, "If I'd have known you were going to be so sensitive about it." She smirked and set her drink aside, before sitting up on the counter. Why? Because she felt like it. She waved a hand airily, "Eh. It takes a lot to freak me out."
"Obviously. Maybe if I could turn into a truck or something that would do it." She scanned Talia once with her eyes, smirking. "Nice software..." She said, laughing. "See? Way more obscure robot references to make. Like 'Short Circuit'. And did you read that miniseries I gave ya?"
"Well, clearly you're better at making references than I am." Talia poked her tongue out, before nodding vigorously. "Yes, very cool. Claremont obviously wanted Kitty as a main character, to write a whole mini-series." She blushed.
"So can I have a sip of your coffee?" Bette laughed with a throaty rumble. "I don't need to drink stuff, but that doesn't mean I don't LIKE to..."
"Oh, I don't know. This stuff's pretty hard to come by." Talia giggled, holding the cup juuuuust out of reach. "What's the magic word?"
"Yeah. Hard to come by. Cos The Shack is ALL the way across the street. Bitch." She held out her hand though, and smirked. "Please?"
"Yep. We're undeniably too far away." Talia nodded sternly, but relented pretty soon after that, handing the cup over with a mocking-sigh, "Fine."
"Thaaaank you m'dear." The robot girl said with a smirk, taking a few sips. "So... I was strongly considering complaining earlier, but then I decided to save it till we saw each other again, since I know you love it so."
“Thanks for the consideration.” Talia laughed, although now she was slightly puzzled. “What were you going to complain about, hm?”
"The fact that these assholes that shop here have no concept of putting back issues back in the box in the RIGHT ORDER..." She gestured emphatically to the boxes in question. "I really don't think Spawn goes three issues behind Captain Freakin' America, Talia!"
"Hrmh, have you ever considered putting up colourful signs that say something along the lines of 'put it back where you got it, or G.T.F.O.'?" Not that people would read them, but at least then it'd give you something else to complain about, and we both know I'm all for that," Talia snickered.
"You know, that's a good point. I do enjoy bitching. Hm. Think it would ironically funny if I got a tattoo of a Decepticon emblem?" She glared then, those eyes narrowing. "And you BETTER not be an Autobot-lover, or I am NEVER kissing you again."
Talia pouted her lips and looked to the ceiling, "nooo. Not an Autobot-lover." Yes, she was a terrible liar. "Okay, I like Bumblebee, but that's it. Don't deprive me of smooches."
"BUMBLEBEE!" Bette blurted out with a sputter. "He's a little yellow VW Bug for god's sake! And he gets his ass beat like, ALL THE TIME!" Oh, this was awesome. "I may like 'Cool As Ice' but at least I don't like Bumblebee!"
"Bah, you're impossible!" Talia flailed, before getting up. "I'll admit he's not bad ass, but sometimes the little guy needs to be rooted for, too!" Talia crossed her arms. Oh yes, clearly this was a matter of great importance.
"You're kind of adorable when you spaz out like that, you know?" Bette giggled, reaching over to playfully poke Talia's nose. "Can I ask you something personal, T?"
Caught offguard, all Talia could do was blush. She nodded. "Sure. What's on your mind?"
"You seem so... lonely. Do you have anyone at home?" She asked, a bit protective.
"Oh." Talia fidgeted and looked away. Yeah, that was definitely a sore spot. "Not really, no."
"You're... not alone anymore, T. You have me now." She rested her head against the girl's. "You'll always have me."
Talia sighed and wrapped her arms around Bette, "I know, B. Thanks."
"I mean it. I know how you're feeling. My parents love someone who isn't even really ME. I feel lonely even with people around me." She sighed, lowering her voice even though they were alone. "Cassie is more... fascinated with me than anything, and really... I only feel *real* when I'm with you."
"Damn it," Talia murmured, looking away again, as she felt tears stinging her eyes. "I don't usually cry this much."
"Heh. If it helps? I'd be crying right now if I had working tear ducts. Cassie's still working on that." Bette said with a grin, using a thumb to wipe away Talia's tears. "So... Help me out here. I'm still getting the hang of this emotion stuff. Why do I feel all... weird in my stomach every time I think of you? Its odd, like little birds fluttering around in there."
Talia laughed lightly, as she felt her body relax. "Uhm, it's sort of..." Heh, that's funny, she didn't know what to say. "Nervous excitement, I guess?" She placed a hand to Bette's stomach, pretending to feel for it. "Yep, there it is." She smirked.
"Bullshit!" Bette laughed, although she didn't exactly make any move to push the hand away. "You SO can't feel it too... I just don't get why it happens. Gawd, I must sound so lame. But I mean, sometimes this stuff still confuses me. I'm not SUPPOSED to feel this stuff."
"Alright, no. But I feel it in my stomach," Talia admitted. "As for ... certain feelings, it's not exactly like I'm an expert. I'm still learning, too."
"Then we'll learn about this stuff together." Bette said with a grin. "You know, if you aren't afraid of getting close to someone who isn't real. And comic books be damned, if you ever call me Awesome Android, I am chuckin you out the WINDOW."
"I'll try to restrain myself." Talia giggled. "Are we good now?"
"Of course we're good. And seriously, anytime you feel lonely, I don't care if its three in the morning, call me and we'll get together. Ain't like I need the sleep, right?" She smirked, shrugging. "Although I might bring bad movies with me."
"That sounds good to me. Of course we'll have to set some ground rules," Talia added with a sweet grin. "Rule number one? Noooooo Vanilla Ice."
"Sigh. One day you'll learn to appreciate the ironic hilarity of the Iceman. Now, before we end up getting all sappy..." Bette pointed toward the door, "Be a good friend and go get me one of those coffees you so callously brought in. GOD it smells amazing."
"Alright, alright. Since you asked so nicely." Talia poked out her tongue, before getting up to do just that. "Wow. I'm so your bitch. Be proud."
