Hopefully Not Getting Squeezed to Death Here
Who: David and Lucy
Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: 3/9, Evening
Lucy was wiping down a counter in the Sugar Shack. Yep, it was back to life as normal, or as normal as this cracked out life of hers really got, and she was back working at the Sugar Shack during her somewhat spare time. Which meant like, two nights a week, tops, but it made her feel like she was earning some of the money that she spent on clothes, music stuff, and anything else that struck her fancy, so it was fine. Besides, she still had time for Ash, and they were planning a party this Saturday at the Shack (closed to the public, for once), as a sort of 'Welcome Back (either to town or to life, whatever). However, she did NOT know the whirlwind coming for her in about, oh, thirty seconds or so. She was just mindlessly wiping a counter where she had spilled some coffee.
Ever see in the movies, when someone whips out a gun in the middle of a bank? The way EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the bank just hits the floor in fear, just hoping they don't die? That was pretty much the reaction of damn-near every person in the Shack when the front door slammed open, almost flinging off the hinges, and the giant, monstrous form of David Cromwell came barreling in, eyes wide in excitement and relief. He wore black jeans, spiked biker boots, and a sleeveless Suicidal Tendencies t-shirt, his wild hair and various piercings combining with his vast array of tattoos to make him, well, pretty much the scariest thing half these people had ever seen. His voice, excited as it was, BOOMED through the diner. "LIL' ANGEL! YER BACK!" He came running toward Lucy, lifting her into those big, inked arms, twirling her in a hug so thrilled that he had to force himself to NOT hug her too tightly.
Lucy squealed as David ran inside and picked her up in a bear hug. Luckily for him, it was a good not scared squeal, because David might have had people try to attack him if she had sounded scared or something. Of course, they would have been knocked into the wall for it, so another good reason that things were OK. "Yep, I'm back! Did ya miss me?" Oh, she was laughing when she asked that.
"I missed you SO much..." he sniffled, sweetly, eyes closing as he could scarcely believe this, even with all he'd seen. Not even really realizing that, well... she wasn't entirely up on what had happened since she'd been gone, he started rambling a little. "Sarah's barely been able to hold me together... I just kept crying and crying and wishing I coulda done something to protect you..."
She hugged him back. "What happened was something that I don't think any of us could have predicted or protected from, David." A psychotic vampire jumping her because she was hurt over something or another? Yeah...none of them really saw it coming, obviously. "And who's Sarah?"
"Oh." He blinked then, finally setting her down, most of the patrons (that hadn't run out of the place in fear) finally settling back into their seats. "Sarah. Um... she's...." well, he couldn't really say 'girlfriend' yet, could he? "She works for Ben and Meredith. We've... been seeing each other. Sort of. She's really been there for me through all this."
"Really? You got a girlfriend? That's so COOL!" She squealed at him, hugging him again. "So, where does she work? At Saints & Sinners? What does she look like? No one will let me go near the place, so I haven't seen anyone who works there yet!"
"Yeah, she works at Saints & Sinners. And you don't NEED to be in that place. Trust me." God, the people that frequented that place would likely be in perverse heaven if they saw Lucy. "And Sarah?" Sweetly enough... this was the only way he could think of to describe her. "...she's absolutely beautiful."
"Well, glad to see that you like her," Lucy said playfully when he described her. "Soooo....when do I get to meet her then? She's obviously made an impression on you, so I gotta see if she meets Lucy approval."
"Actually... soon as I can bring her by here or you can swing by the shop." And because, well, Ash wasn't the ONLY one feeling like he had to start doing things he almost missed the chance to do... "And next week... as long as Chloe and Kevin don't mind... I'm gonna take you to go for yer permit. I wanna start teachin' you to ride your bike."
She grinned up at him. "Awesomesauce," she said about both meeting Sarah and getting her learner's permit. "I don't think they'll mind, you know, since they didn't say too much about her getting the bike, and she KNEW that they didn't expect her to just look at it. She hoped not, anyway.
"Welcome back, kiddo..." He said, trying to maintain his composure and not just bawl like an idiot in the middle of a coffee shop. "You scared the hell outta me."
"I didn't do it on purpose, just so you know," she pointed out to him. "You might wanna go thank Meredith for it. She's the one who went and angered some wish demon thing to do it."
"Smart-ass." He chuckled, ruffling her hair sweetly. "I should probably go before the rest of the customers leave too. But come by the shop tomorrow, ok? I'll introduce you to Sarah."
She nodded. "And I'm not being a smart about the wish demon being angry," she reminded him. Just so that he knew. "Don't worry about them. They'll come back for the shooters and not remember what happened by next week. But OK, I'll come by tomorrow and meet Sarah."
