Getting to Know One Another
Who: Skylar and Neely
Where: Avarice
When: Wednesday Afternoon, 3/10
Avarice in the afternoon was a completely different being than it was at night. Instead of blaring music and people dancing together on the floor, the place was much more quiet and subdued. It was technically open, but only the bar and it only had one bartender working at the moment. It was open more in the day for things like business dealings and such. Two people meet over a drink to discuss things. While Skylar wanting to meet Neely here today had nothing to do with business and a lot more of just wanting to get to know her better, it still seemed the right place for it. Sipping at a coke, Skylar waited for her to come downstairs and hang with her.
Neely had no reason to be late, honestly, given that she lived right upstairs… but she did get a little side-tracked by a certain redhead while she was trying to take a shower. Thus, the lateness. She came downstairs wearing blue jeans and a form-fitting black tank-top, her hair still a little wet and dreaded from the very long shower. She grinned in that afterglow kind of way, “Sorry, sorry. I got a little distracted.”
"I can tell," Skylar said with a smirk. "It's fine, though." Not like she had anything to do on this particular day, after all. She was already trying to take things a little easier. She didn't want anything to happen to the baby, after all. Sure, she ran into him all grown up the other night, but didn't want things to be taken for granted like that. "So, how are you and Rachelle doing now?"
Neely just couldn’t stop grinning. Wasn’t love a funny thing? “We’re doing really well. I’m looking forward to the honeymoon. Not for the sex, but just… spending time with her without worrying about all the other stuff, y’know? … And okay, maybe a little of the sex,” she added cutely. “What about you and my devious cousin?”
"Hmm...about the same, really," Skylar said to her. "Now's it is just a matter of who gets to the alter first. You guys, or us."
“I’m kind of eager to get it done sooner but ‘Chelle… well, she wants certain things and who am I to deny her that?” Whipped? Just a little bit. Thanks.
Skylar just laughed. "Some people want to have the whole she-bang going for their wedding." Who was Skylar to talk? She was one of them. The even they were planning was going to be GRAND.
“Well, I’m not sure about whole she-bang, but… something decent? I guess. Something with a few family and friends. I wanted to elope,” she admitted with a laugh, “but she deserves this.” She sat down and played a coaster between her fingers, “I’m guessing you and Ben are going the whole-hog, though…”
"I'm sure that you guys can work out something in the middle," Skylar said. "And yes, Ben and I are going through the whole-hog," she laughed as she said the last part. What, it was amusing?
“I wouldn’t expect anything less for you two, I think you deserve to be happy,” Neely said with a decisive nod. “…Did ‘Chelle ask you to be the maid/matron of honour?”
Skylar nodded. "And of course I said yes," she said with a grin. "Who are you going to ask to be your...best man or best woman?" Skylar herself had gone through the confusion of all of it once as well, and she STILL had no clue what to call anything, so who really did?
“Probably Ben,” Neely laughed. “… Or Brandon. I’m sure that’d surprise the hell out of him,” she admitted. “I’m really excited. I mean, there was a time in the not so distant past where I was a complete idiot, but… I can’t wait.” She scrunched her nose cutely.
"That probably would," Skylar said, amused by the thought of Brandon having to throw a bachelorette party for Neely. Something more up Ben's alley for sure. "Well, as long as you've learned from your mistake, then everyone can be happy, right?"
“Right,” Neely murmured. Clearly it was still a sore subject for her. Did anyone honestly believe that she was capable of changing her spots? “‘Chelle trusts me not to do that to her again…” She looked away and inhaled sharply, unintentionally taking in the other woman’s scent. She frown and looked back at Skylar, arching a brow.
"I'm certainly not one to cast judgment, and that's not what I'm doing, Neely. Ben and I started off with...less than stellar circumstances, too. As long as you know who you truly love, hold onto them for dear life." Such was the wisdom of Skylar. She then noticed Neely staring at her. "What?"
“You smell different,” Neely murmured, and my god, she actually leaned across to breathe in Skylar’s scent. Goodbye personal bubble. “Like your hormones are in overdrive, or… are, are you pregnant?”
Skylar's eyes went wide. "You can smell that?" Wow, talk about powerful senses, especially since she'd had to tell Ben. "Yeah, about a month along. I haven't told anyone but Ben yet, you know, to make sure that nothing happens before the three month mark."
“I’m a bit of a freak like that. Don’t tell ‘Chelle?” She, sweetly, worried that that particular skill would be a turn off. As for the other thing? As excited and as happy as she was for the pair, she could respect their decision for keeping it quiet. “I understand. I won’t say a word.” She gave the girl scouts salute and everything.
Skylar smiled. "I'll keep it a secret if you'll keep my secret, at least for now," she said to Neely with a grin. "I'm really excited, though. I'm thrilled to be starting a family with Ben, plus that means Bella will have a sibling." Most likely a brother, if things kept the same with her.
The blonde narrowed her eyes cutely. “There’s nothing wrong with siblings, apart from occasionally wanting to strangle them,” she snickered. “But that’s great. I’m really happy for you two. If anyone deserves happiness, right?” She smiled. “If you guys ever need a babysitter, let me know?”
Skylar laughed. "Sure, I'll let you know. You wanting to try before you buy?" Who knew if Neely and Rachelle would adopt someday or not. Always good to have practice, though.
Neely rolled her eyes and laughed, “I don’t know. I know ‘Chelle wants kids and I always thought someday, but beyond that… What really makes a good parent, anyway?” My, don’t get those wheels turning…
Skylar snickered. "Well, it never hurts to have some experience before going anywhere near getting your own kids, though."
“Yeah, the last thing you’d want to do is traumatize them,” a pause, “wait…” She snickered, “okay, I can see us doing that, when the kid’s in his or her teens. Don’t tell me you haven’t thought about it.”
"Oh, already thought of it and have done it," Skylar said with a smirk. Brayden hitting on her had just been far too funny, at least in her opinion.
“What, did you make a time capsule or something?” Neely laughed, since, well… the whole teen’s from the future thing kinda went over her head. She should really leave the apartment more often…
"That's not a bad idea, actually," Skylar said with a smirk. Torment the kids both in the present and future. Too much fun right there.
“Oh God, you’re giving me awful ideas, I hope you realize that,” Neely laughed, shaking her head. As for the whole ‘wanting to have kids’ thing? She’d put that on the back burner for now, since she’d rather have Rachelle all to herself for a little longer.
"Hey, always got to make sure that your kids are at least as screwed up as you are," Skylar said with a smile. "That's what my parents told me, anyway."
“Eh, you don’t seem so bad to me,” Neely teased, poking out her tongue.
"Well...when you put it that way," Skylar said demurely, smiling. "I'm not that bad at all. I could certainly be a lot worse, after all."
“I don’t know.” Neely tilted her head to the side, “I couldn’t picture you as anything other than who you are now.” My, now that was a compliment. Ben should take notes.
Skylar kept smiling at her. "I can tell that the Bale charm runs in the family," she said to Neely. "Lucky for me we're both taken then."
“Oh God, could you imagine?” Neely laughed, shaking her head. “But Rachelle’s more than enough woman for me, just like I think you’re more than enough woman for Ben.”
Skylar nodded. It was a sentiment that she could really understand now. "Then that's good for both of us, obviously."
“Well yeah,” Neely scoffed. “Otherwise you’d be in some serious trouble, girl.”
"And you think that you wouldn't?" Skylar asked. She looked down at her watch. "Anyways, I should probably be going. I'm supposed to meet someone in about an hour, and I'd like to grab something to eat before then."
“Sure, sure. ‘Chelle’n I are toddling off overnight, so… we’d better do that.” Neely laughed weakly and stood, giving Skylar a gentle cuddle. “Be good.”
Skylar hugged her back. "I'll put my best effort into it, anyway," she said with a devious smirk at Neely.
