Move In Day
Who: Baily and Derek
Where: Baily (and now Derek's) apartment
When: Sunday, 2/28, afternoon
It had taken a little while to get him packed up and everything, and for Baily and him to both get a day off together so that they would have the time, but now they were finally moving in together. Baily was still a teensy bit worried about how she would handle living with another person, since, other than she short time Bethany had stayed with her, she had lived on her own for so long that she had grown used to it. Plus, she was kind of a territorial creature by heart. She couldn't help it. Blame her lycan heritage and move on. Anyways, she was working on it. She was also working on hefting this box of something or other that Derek had brought up the stairs to her apartment. Damn her for not living on the ground floor.
So, considering that she was carrying the heavy stuff, and he was just carrying a few small boxes of videos and CDs, maybe Derek should have felt bad about his joke. But then? They wouldn't be the couple they were. "Wanna hurry it up, Jeeves? We don't have all night..."
Baily just snorted. "What the hell did you pack in this thing, anyway? Bricks?" She wasn't having too hard of a time with it, but damn if it had looked a lot lighter before she had picked it up. "What is in this box, Derek?"
"Just some tools that are too important to me to leave at Dave's shop, that's all!" Then? Just because they loved being playfully shitty with each other, "and don't get all indignant. Jeeves sucks, yeah... but it's way better than if I'd made the obligatory 'Fido' joke..."
"If you had made a Fido joke I would have bitten you on your ass," Baily said to him with a slight grin. Give him something to call her Fido about then, at least. She finally made it up to her...their apartment. Kicking the door open, she walked in and set the box on the floor.
"Please. Your ass is SO much more bitable than mine." He said with a smirk, before actually helping her with the box, trying to show that while he wasn't superhuman, he wasn't helpless, either.
"So, how much more is there?" Baily asked him as they got into the apartment. She had thought that there were a few boxes left, but she wasn't sure. She had lost count of how many times they had been up and down the stairs, after all.
"Well..." He said as he thought about it, "looking at the boxes, "It looks like just my TV and one or two boxes of clothes. We're almost done. Which sucks because I kinda like seeing you get all sweaty."
"There are other, much more fun ways of making me sweat, Derek," Baily pointed out to him with a grin upon her face.
"There are, yeah..." And then? Yeah, so it JUST hit him. Go ahead, laugh. "Oh man... Living together? We can totally do that ANY TIME now."
Baily rolled her eyes. "That just hit you, stud?" she asked him.
"Maybe.... Ok, so I'm not always that bright, ok?" He asked with an embarrassed blush. "Yer not dating me for my brains, sweetheart."
"I'm dating you for your charm and grace, I know," Baily said with a wink toward him.
"Of course!" He laughed, shaking his head. "This really is great of you, B. I know this can't be easy..."
"It's not that it's hard. I've just kind of gotten used to living on my own for so long." Even when she had lived with her parents, she had stayed at a different end of the house and sort of took care of herself. Her parents had been all about independence.
"Funny enough... I've gotten used to that too." Yeah, he could joke about it now. His parents weren't exactly the most horrid people alive, but could be drunken and neglectful like the most awesome of Springer guests.
While Baily's parents were drunks or anything, it was just kind of the way they were. Sort of standoffish. She wanted to strangle them for completely different reasons other than the fact that they were slightly neglectful. "Well, it happens," she said finally with a slight shrug.
"So... We're almost done here... Maybe we should try out OUR shower or somethin'?" He mentioned with an innocent little whistle.
Innocent her ass. "I also have a big bathtub in this place," Baily said with a playful grin.
Derek just stared, He opened his mouth, as if to say something, but,... damn, if words didn't completely escape him after that thought got shoved into his head. "I.... you....." Finally? He wrapped his arm around her, even more thankful that they were almost done here. "I think... I'm REALLY going to like living together..."
"Oh yeah," Baily said to him. It was about damn time for them, after all. "Why don't we worry about the rest of the boxes later and go ahead and have some fun now?" she offered. really, they could get the rest later, couldn't they?
