Coming Together
Who: Patience and Mere (Open to continuation)
Where: Patience and Pat's Place
When: Friday Night, Feb. 12th
Still worried over Ash (although her anger over the ceiling incident had calmed a little), Mere decided to take Ben up on at least some of his advice and go and see Patience. If anyone still around was closer to him than Mere, it was Patience. Blood thicker than water and whatever. So, Mere rode her bike over and knocked on their door. She wasn't sure exactly who would be home right now, but there was at least ONE car in the driveway, which led her to believe that someone would be home to talk to her and maybe come up with some sort of plan to save Ash from himself (and to possibly save the world from him as well).
Patience was home, alright. She was bundled up on the couch, staring that the TV, not really watching what was on. She’d send Pat off to satisfy one of her cravings, while she just… waited. She didn’t like waiting. A little feverish, she broke out of her reverie at the sound of Mere approaching and with a frown, she made her way over to the door, feeling achy and very very tired. She opened the door and met Mere’s eyes and said what was on both their minds: “What the fuck are we gonna do?”
"Not a fucking clue," Mere said, walking inside. Luckily, she had previously been invited in during the 'interesting' Thanksgiving dinner. "Kind of why I'm here, darling. I can't come up with shit on my own, so I thought it would be best if we tried working together on this."
“Yeah, well, beyond tying him down… I’ve got nothing,” Patience replied. She shook her head and led Mere back to the couch, flipping off the TV and curling the blankets around her again. She was indignant right now, sure, but… tired.
"Well, considering he magically put me on the ceiling the other night to prevent me from helping him with his plans, so I'm guessing he'll also magically untie knots," Mere said, sitting down on the sofa as well."So, unless you know of someone with magical rope, we're going to have to come up with something better than that."
“Magic ropes?” Patience repeated with a smirk, before… “Do we even know anyone with enough magical power to stop him?” Oh, the wheels were definitely turning there. The last thing she wanted was to see her brother on a metal slab next to Lucy in the coroner’s office… or worse.
"No one off my list of magical people," Mere said. "Ash was always the one saying that he was going to be doing the protecting, you know? I didn't realize I'd ever have to protect the world from him." Well, again, you know.
“Yeah, well, that’s pretty well fucked, isn’t it,” Patience snarked. “Sorry,” she quickly apologized, knowing it wasn’t Mere’s fault that this had happened. She was just as concerned. “We’ll need to ask around. I won’t lose him, Mere. I won’t.” Out came the momma bear in Patience, talk about protective.
"No need, because it is fucked up," Mere said simply. "You think I want to lose him?" she pointed out. "Because we might need to protect him from others, too. Some out there think that it might just be a better idea to put him down like a rabid dog! That's not what he is, and that's not what's going to make it right, Patience. I don't want to lose him, either." Really, if there were going to be a team to protect Ash, it was going to be these two.
“Then we’ll have to make it clear that we’ll fuck up anybody who tries to put him down. A vampire and a pregnant woman? Who’s going to want to come up against that?” She smirked briefly, although it didn’t hold its usual playfulness to it. “We’ll figure something out, Mere. I know we will.”
"Well, we pretty much have to," Mere told her. "We have to find a way to both calm down Ash and keep other people away from him," she said to her. "Because pretty much no one at this point is listening to any kind of reason, you know?" In what sort of world was Mere the rational person among them? A fucked up world, that's what.
That thought actually occurred to Patience as Meredith talked, and she barked out a laugh. Shaking her head, she said: “I’d say divide our efforts, but I know neither of us want to be away from him at this point. What we need, is more fire power. Is… Ben with us on this?” She hated to admit it, but if he was on their side here? Maybe they’d have a chance.
Mere sighed. "He's the one who told me to talk to you, but, then again, he threatened to put a bullet in Ash's head if he tried to harm Skylar. Not sure WHY he'd go after Skylar of all people, but I think he meant more in a general 'if he becomes a public menace' sort of threat. So, to answer your question...sort of?"
Patience let out a cutely frustrated growl and leaned back in her seat. Benjamin Bale = Epic Douchebag, in her mind right now. “I shouldn’t have expected anything from him. Fine. You know what? Fuck everyone else. It’s you and me, Mere. We’ll keep at Ash until something cracks.” The sheer conviction in her voice and the determination in her eyes made it very clear – this was a woman on a mission.
"I agree. I think we're the two who might be able to get through to him, if anyone really can," Mere said to her. Really, she wasn't too sure if they could get through to Ash, but she wanted to do so very badly, which meant no negative thoughts and just remember that they should do so. Keep at him until he breaks.
“Then I think we’ve got a plan,” Patience said decisively. The look in her eyes was actually frighteningly determined, and while there was a little voice inside of her that doubted they could do anything, she ignored it, not wanting to picture a world without her brother in it. Or, you know, anyone else…
"Yeah, a plan," Mere said. Better than nothing, anyway. She just hoped that they would actually be able to get through to him before it was too late for him, or everyone.
