Meeting the Twin
Who: Brennan and Catherine
Where: Avarice
When: Friday, Feb. 19, night
Catherine walked into Avarice after a night of patrolling. Luckily, tonight had gone fairly well. All of the vampires in the area seemed extra freaked out right now, which, strangely enough, made her job a lot easier. They didn't quite jump on her stake, but they might as well have. They were off their game as of late. A little weird, but she didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. She scanned the room to see if Brandon had already gotten there tonight.
Brennan had already been at Avarice for about half an hour just enjoying a Jack and Coke, the music and the general ambiance of the place. The lycan was tired of trying to obtain information on the pair of mates he'd followed here and put the word out that the pack that had killed Lauren wanted a freakin' war, he'd give them one. After doing that, Brennan had felt better than he had in months, knowing that this whole thing would come to an end soon.
After looking around for a minute, she saw what, from a distance, looked to be Brandon, smiling and walking up behind him and wrapping her arms around his waist. "Good evening," she said, snuggling into the back of his neck.
Uh... Was Brennan's personal reaction before he tensed at the contact and slid out the woman's embrace. The lycan turned to her, his expression guarded and wary as he replied, "Uh...hi."
She was confused when he slid out of her embrace, but, as soon as he turned around, she realized the mistake that she had made, and looked utterly mortified. "Oh...I'm so sorry. I thought that you were someone else," she said to him, just looked horrified.
The lycan relaxed at Catherine's apology and shook his head, smiling, "It's okay, I'm used to it." This must be the infamous girlfriend he kept hearing about from his brother. The lycan offered his hand to her, "I'm Brennan, Brandon's twin. You must be Catherine."
"Oh, so you are the infamous twin then," Catherine said to him. "Yes, I am Catherine. Sorry about that, but, from far away, you are indistinguishable." Up close she could actually feel the difference. They had different ways of carrying themselves, for one.
Brennan chuckled and shook his head again, "Really, there's no need to apologize. I understand." The lycan then gestured to the bar, "Can I get you a drink or anything?"
"Just a coke for now," Catherine said to him, sitting down at the bar. It was actually interesting to see Brennan in person instead of just hearing about him. Their physical resemblance, was, well, obviously uncanny. "So, how long are you planning to be in town?"
"Well, until you all decide to kick me out," Brennan joked. That basically meant that he was here to stay in Los Angeles now that he decided to make a stand in the city instead of running after the cowards that took Lauren from him.
"Well, I do not control who comes into and out of LA, so I cannot do the kicking out," Catherine said to him with a slight smirk. She still felt a little flustered, but it was ebbing away.
The lycan hailed the bartender as he chuckled at her joke. Brennan ordered a soda for Catherine and a refill on his Jack and Coke, which probably hadn't done him any favors as that was Brandon's drink of choice at bars as well. "Guess I'll be sticking around for a while then."
That was true. She could even smell that it was the same drink that Brandon usually had as well. One of the random ways they were alike, she supposed. "Well, I don't suppose that will be too bad, then," she said to him.
"I don't foresee any problems," Brennan shot back and took a sip of his drink. The lycan shrugged, "I'm sure you know by now that us Bales are all about family."
She nodded. "So I have been told," she said to him. "I am close to my family as well." Although hers wasn't a werewolf mob family, though.
"That's good. Having family close is never a bad thing." Brennan smiled.
"No, it really isn't," Catherine said, taking a sip of her drink. "Brandon is glad to have you in town as well."
Brennan nodded in agreement, "You know...I thought things were going to be bad between us still." The lycan sobered a bit at the memory of their argument just before Brennan left, "Man...the things we said to each other." He shook his head and took another sip of his drink, "Really glad we patched things up." Brennan glanced to Catherine and smiled.
"I am glad that you patched things together as well," Catherine said, returning his smile as well. It was good for brothers to get along, yes? It seemed that way, anyways.
"Yeah." Brennan agreed with a nod and then finished off the rest of his Jack and Coke. Setting the empty glass aside, the lycan studied the Slayer a moment before finally asking, "So, how did you two meet? I mean, you and Brandon?" He said with a gestured.
"Here at Avarice actually," Catherine said to him. "He asked me to dance and we talked."
"Yeah?" Brennan smiled a little, "Good, I'm glad he's found someone that he cares so much about." At least one of them found happiness. While Brennan was attracted to and liked Shiloh, he wouldn't know whether or not their relationship would go anywhere. It was his hope that something would come of it.
"Yes and I care about him, too," Catherine said to Brennan. "I love him, actually. We just moved in together, as a matter of fact." Of course, they also had their teenaged daughter staying with them, but that was way hard to explain.
Brennan leaned in slightly toward Catherine, an earnest look on his face as he quietly said, "If that's the case, then do everything in your power to protect him."
She nodded. "I already do. Is there anything in particular that I am protecting him from?"
"Anyone that will use him against you." Was Brennan's cryptic reply before he sat up and smiled just a little. The lycan then shrugged, "I should probably get going. It was nice meeting you, Catherine."
She smiled back at him. "It was nice to finally meet you as well, Brennan."
