The Truth Finally Comes Out
Who: Mere and Deanna
Where: Deanna's House
When: Friday Night, right after her run in with Ash
Deanna pranced around her apartment sweetly, doing a little dusting. She bounced around to the Motley Crue CD she'd put in. Clad in a little pair of Victoria's Secret pink short-shorts, knee-high socks, pink sneakers, and a tiny Dodgers t-shirt with her hair in pigtails, she hummed to herself, just keeping herself busy.
If only Mere wasn't coming by to ruin this cozy little domestic scene. The roar of a motorcycle could be heard outside. She was half tempted to run it into a tree, but, well, the only thing stopping her was that her father had gotten her the thing for her seventeenth birthday. She'd like to hang onto it for a while. Still, instead she simply stopped and parked it like a sane person, and walked up to Deanna's door and knocked.
Deanna actually squeaked in happiness, honestly figuring it was probably Kayla. When she looked through the crack in the door and saw Meredith though, she grinned and threw the door open... and blinked when she noticed the angry sneer on her face. "Ohh damn. Who'd you kill, and do I need to help you hide a body?"
"Can I come in?" Mere asked. She had actually not yet been to Deanna's new apartment, mostly due to Ash sort of exploding on all of them, and as of yet hadn't actually been verbally invited inside.
"Oh! OH! Yeah! Come in. Please. Enter. Whatever," She said, not really sure how to do the whole thing.
Any one of those would have done it, actually. Mere walked inside, simply standing just past the doorway for a few seconds afterward. She was really at a lack of words at this point.
"What's going on, babe? Yer kiiiiiinda scaring me. I haven't seen you this spooked since Jack last forgot to check a girl's ID." The blonde said with a knowing laugh.
"You know," Mere actually chuckled, "I never really thought that there would be a day that I'd be turning down sex, and yet I keep doing it more and more these days." Surprisingly, it seemed that Mere's life was going more toward fucked up and less to fun, which she personally had never expected. "He's completely fucked, Deanna. He actually showed up at Eden tonight trying to seduce me, and I had to knock him across the room just to get away from him."
".....Mere?" Deanna nibbled her lip and tried to find a nice way to say this. "I have no freakin' clue what you're talking about. None. Zero. Zilch."
"Who else ever has this sort of effect on me, De? Really?" Mere pointed out to her, a slightly crooked grin on her face that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"Oh, Meredith...." Deanna looked mortified. "For the love of.... HIM? Seriously? He's a creepy little d-bag, honey! Why do you keep letting him GET to you like this???"
"Because it's kind of just how things are these days, so let's not deny things at the moment, shall we?" Mere walked over and slumped down into a chair, seemingly crumpling into it. "You're the one person I got right now that I don't have to fake being OK with, so let's move past the 'why' and deal with the now, can we please?"
"Ok, ok... I don't mean anything by it honey... I'm just TIRED of this guy hurting you! Now what happened. I want every detail." Deanna just plopped right down next to her, wrapping an arm around her.
"I'm not even sure if it's HIM inside of that brain of his right now, so he may not be to blame." Leave it to Mere to find a way not to blame him for this. "It's really just as I said. He came in and tried to get me to have sex with him, but I think he was just wanting a way to not think about Lucy for a few hours. I think he's going to do something, though. Something bad and big."
"Oh. Good." She hung her head a little, wondering how and when her life got tangle up in this crap? Man.. fuck Sunnydale. "You... you did the right thing, Mere. Seriously."
"I have a little more respect for the both of us than to fuck him in this state of affairs, thanks," Mere said, having not once actually looked at Deanna since she had come inside. "I know I did the right thing, there. I however know that he's just going to find someone else to drown himself in, and that will be someone who is far less caring than I."
"So it's Sunnydale all over again? He's really off the deep end?" Deanna inquired, trying to be wholly concerned, but... honestly looking just as scared.
"Yeah, I think so," Mere admitted to her. "And I don't want to fuck up and leave him all alone in it again, but I'm not sure if anyone can bring him back from it." Her voice was starting to crack.
"Sweetie...." Deanna grabbed the vampire, hugging her tightly. Creature of the night or not, this was still her BEST FRIEND, and she hated to see her near tears.
Mere just simply sat there as she felt the tears start to roll down her face. She really felt at a loss in this situation. She didn't know how to fix things, or even if they were fixable. Then again, if they weren't, they might all be fucked.
"You always fall in love with the crazy ones, ya big goofball..." She said sweetly, just cradling her friend.
"No, I think I've just stayed in love with the one crazy one all this time," Mere pointed out simply, finally coming clean and admitting it out loud.
"Oh god. You really have, haven't you. You never... all that time.... with Ben... and Devon...." it was finally adding up now. "You were still in love with him. All that time."
"You think I'm happy about that?" Mere asked, just trying not to sob at this point. "That I finally have a good guy that is stable and I don't even have to worry about dying on me, and the person that I'm truly in love with is a psycho who's mourning another girl. Yeah, I know how to pick them."
"Shhh... c'mon... I know... it's ok. Remember? I fell in love with an evil lawyer who wanted to kill my little sister. So who am I to throw stones, right?" Well, if nothing else? Deanna had a pretty fucking good point this time. "Look... we'll... we'll try to figure out a way to help him. To bring him back. Then we'll figure out how to make him see who really loves him."
It was like the dam broke and Mere finally started to sob against Deanna. She wasn't sure if there was anything to bring back at this point, or if he really could love her back after all of this, and wondered if she should just find a way to spend eternity alone, away from everyone, and see if that was better. Maybe Ash had a point in all of that.
