Girl's Night Out
Who: Shiloh and Baily
Where: Avarice
When: Evening - Saturday, February 13
Coming to Avarice probably wasn't the wisest of things for Shiloh to do that night, but the club was the only one she was familiar with. And besides there wasn't that one hundred percent chance that Brennan would be there for her to run into. Maybe a fifty/fifty chance, but those odds were ones Shiloh was willing to take. Was also the reason why the blonde took a seat at the far end of the bar. It gave her a better view of the place and those coming and going. A better chance to escape unnoticed should Brennan actually show up at the place.
Baily walked inside of Avarice. Once again, it was her night off, and, once again, she was at her place of work. Kind of weird, coming to your place of work to hang out, but it was what she did. When she spotted Shiloh, she gave her a wave and headed over. She hadn't seen her much in the past few days, so she decided to see what was up in the life of Shiloh as of late.
Shiloh had just ordered an appletini when she caught sight of Baily headed in her direction. A Bale who's company she wasn't hiding from, nor would mind. "Hey." The blonde called out as the dark haired girl got within hearing range. Well, hearing range for a normal human as Shiloh was unaware what the Bales of L.A. were.
Baily grinned at her as she came up. "Hey," she said to Shiloh as she got up to her. She turned quickly to the bartender and ordered a bottled water before asking, "How's life been treating you lately?" to Shiloh.
Shiloh downed a little bit of her drink before any attempt was made to answer the inquiry made by Baily. "Guess it could be treating me worse. Can't really complain, though," Shi smiled lightly, "got a great paying job and a place to call home. Beats being pennyless and living out of my car." Shiloh tried joking with a little bit more of a smile.
"And yet something's going on," Baily said, reading the expression on the girl's face. "You sure you're doing OK?"
"Yeah." Shi replied with a blatant lie. "Okay," and now the problem she was struggling with was going to come out, "let's say, hypothetically, that you happened to meet a guy who you seemed to hit it off with only to find out that the main reason he was attracted to you was because you bore an extremely close resemblance to some he lost not too long ago. What would you do?"
Baily just sort of stared at her when she explained the situation. "So, this guy wants to date you, but only because of your resemblance to someone else?" she asked. "Well, I know that I'd personally run like hell, because it sounds like he's got massive baggage, but that's just me. What do you want to do, though?"
"It's not only because of that, it just seems right now that that's the primary reason." Shiloh told Baily, which was followed by the blonde taking another sip of her drink. "I don't know. I think there could be something there, but I don't know if he can get completely past that I'm a dead ringer for his deceased fiancee. We tried talking it out, which didn't go that well. I told him I can't be her, and I think deep down he realizes that. I don't know," Shiloh let out a frustrated sigh then, "do I try talking to him again or just let it all go?"
"Well, the real question is, do you really like the guy?" Baily asked. "I'm not talking about love or anything like that, but do you think that he's worth getting to know better?" She had no clue who this guy was, but, if Shiloh was this wrapped up in him, maybe she did want to get to know him, at least.
"Yeah, I like him. I feel there could be something there and I think he's gotten the same vibe. I just don't know if I'll always be a constant reminder of what he used to have." Shiloh relayed to the other girl. And there was a reason she had delibrately kept the guy's identity secret from the other girl, Shiloh wanted an unbiased opinion about the whole situation. Something she didn't think she'd get if Baily knew that Shiloh was talking about her cousin, Brennan.
"Well, if you like him, then it's at least worth a shot," Baily said to her. "You might start off as being a reminder, but, well, if things are actually able to move forward, he'll eventually stop seeing her so much as he just only sees you."
"I hope you're right." Shiloh said softly twisting the stem of her glass one way then the other within her fingers. "So. Enough about me," Shiloh shot a soft smile the other girl's way, "what about you? What's been going on in the life of B Bale?" Shiloh was kind of glad to hopeful be able to get the conversation off her and onto someone else.
"Well, you're about to get another neighbor," Baily said with a smile. "I finally stopped deciding to be such a freak and asked my boyfriend to move in with me."
"That's awesome." Shiloh smiled. "I mean not the part about me getting another neighbor, but for you having your boyfriend move in with you. You two been together long?"
"Yeah, quite a while, actually," Baily told her. "I wanted to take things to another level with us." Plus, his parents were all sorts of suck, but she didn't want to say that.
"Well then, congratulations. At least one of us is where they want to be in a relationship." Shiloh smiled before lifting her glass to down the rest of her drink.
"Yeah, well this relationship has been a long time in progress," Baily pointed out. "Plus, we got to get through my 'sharing of space' fears, too. Trying to work on that. You're just getting started!"
"Would have never figured you for the territorial type, Baily. I think you'll adapt to having a roomie quite well."
"Old habit that runs in my family," Baily said to her. "It's an issue that I'm working on."
"Your cousins are territorial too?" The blonde questioned not sure if that was a good thing considering her interest lay in one specific Bale.
"Some more than others,"Baily said, although she wasn't sure why she would be asking about her cousins.
Shiloh nodded at the answer supplied her. "I like my own space at times, but don't think I'm anywhere near territorial."
"Well, then consider yourself lucky," Baily said to her. "That just means that there's one less thing for you to get around when you do meet your special someone and want to share a home with them." Because there was plenty of other crap to get around when you had to end up doing that.
"I think it'll be a while before I'm wanting to share my living space with anyone." Shi commented as she signaled the tender to bring her another drink. As it was the blonde was unsure where things stood between her and Brennan after their conversation the previous night. If he couldn't get over the past and see her for who she was and not who she reminded her of it might be quite the long time before Shiloh let herself feel any kind of attraction for another guy.
Baily nodded. "I really only very recently even got OK with the idea," she admitted to Shiloh. "It sort of scared the hell out of me at first. I wasn't sure that I could be able to share my space, you know? I found someone that I'm willing to try with, though. You'll find one someday, too."
"I had actually thought I did find that someone about two years ago. Did the whole moving in with each other only to find out quite recently that he didn't know what it meant to be in a monogamous relationship. Maybe my luck will held steady here in L.A."
Baily cringed when Shiloh told her that. "I guess the only good thing to say about that is that at least you found out, huh?" she said with a slight shrug. "I think your luck will be better in LA, though."
"The way my luck has been running lately I'm thinking you might be right." Shiloh said in return just as the tender came over and placed her second drink down on the bar top near the blonde. "Maybe I'll end up with something as rock solid as you seem to have with this guy of yours."
"Well, I hope you're as lucky as I've been, then," Baily said to her.
