Who: Neely and Rachelle
Where: Their apartment – above Avarice
When: After news of Lucy’s death broke out (Backdated, since I'm a 'tard and didn't post this earlier)
Neely had been at work when news of Lucy Van Warren’s death spread out, and didn’t hear about it until she was driving home that evening, listening to the radio. She pulled to the side of the road and blinked in shock for a few seconds; although she’d never met the girl personally there … was going to be a tough time ahead. Especially for one redhead who just adored the girl. She was quick to go home then, and practically burst down the front door, knowing that Rachelle would just be a wreck over this. "'Chelle, baby... I just heard..."
Rachelle didn't respond. But Neely could hear where she was. Because in the bedroom, the redhead was curled up in a ball on the bed, sobbing. Lucy and Chloe were like sisters to her. Chelle looked like shit... eyes wide, tears streaking down her swollen cheeks, a picture of she and Lucy clutched to her chest, almost unable to breathe from crying so hard.
The blonde werewolf didn’t even have to think what to do. She crawled onto the bed, shoes and all, and curled her body around Rachelle’s, wrapping one arm around the redhead’s waist to tug her close and just… held her. She didn’t say anything, she didn’t try to clean her girlfriend up, and she just... held her.
"She... she can't be gone, Neels... she CAN'T... not her, not my little Lucy...." Of course, Rachelle KNEW the girl was gone... it was just that grief had a way of making you beg for things you knew you couldn't have.
"I’m sorry, baby..." Neely murmured, knowing that right at this moment, there wasn’t much she could say to lessen the blow of the situation.
"You never even got to meet her.... she was the best kid in the world, Neels... not a mean or spiteful bone in her body..." she cuddled into the she-wolf, sobbing like what she was: a woman with an incredibly broken heart. "Why couldn't it be me? I'd give my life in a minute to give her back hers..."
Neely gave Rachelle a good squeeze and shook her head, "I don’t think it works like that... I have to believe that things happen for a reason, even if it’s not easily seen sometimes..." She murmured, surprising herself a little there.
"I never even got to say goodbye... or anything...." not that many people did... but again, this was grief talking. "Last time I ran into her, I was so upset.... I barely said two words to her." God, she was so upset over the Meeghan situation... she practically blew the girl off.
"She knew you loved her, and that’s what’s important, okay?" She smoothed back the redhead’s hair. Her heart was practically breaking seeing her like this.
"It hurts so bad, Neels... to think I'm never gonna see that smiling, beautiful little face again, rolling her eyes when I make some lame-ass comment or ogle Chloe's tits..." Of course, there was the whole band thing... but that was the LAST thing on her mind right now.
"I know, baby. I know," Neely murmured, giving Rachelle another squeeze. She felt a little retarded in this situation, because right now she didn’t have the words. All she could do was listen, and offer comfort.
"Honey... I... don't get mad at me, but..." she sighed, knowing Neely REALLY didn't wanna talk about this. "I gotta apologize. To Meeghan. Even if she spits in my fucking face... I gotta say it. Lucy wouldn't want me to be... the type of person that does this crap. I owe it to her to... to try to be a better person."
Neely was quiet for a long moment, but then nodded slowly. "I think she’d be proud of you."
"Neely?" She asked, her voice sounding more hurt, more... devastatingly vulnerable than Neely had ever heard it, "If... and i know this is a slim chance... but... if we... if we ever like... adopt a kid or something... I wanna name a girl after her."
This would probably shock the reader just as much as Rachelle at this point, but: "...I kinda ... picture you pregnant." She smiled faintly, but nodded agreeably. "Lucy’s a good name."
Normally, Chelle likely would have fainted at that thought. But not right now. Save that for future reference. "She deserves to be remembered. By everyone. She... she was gonna be famous, Neels... there was no chance otherwise. She was SUCH an amazing guitar player..."
“She will be remembered.” She placed a kiss to the redhead’s cheek, “we’ll do something, a memorial or a concert or something…” She nodded slowly. Not doubting for a second that after all the grief had washed out of the people closest to Lucy that something beautiful would come out of it.
"Thank god I have you, Neels...." She hugged the blonde to her tightly, just sniffling into her shoulder. "I love you..."
The blonde pressed her forehead against Rachelle’s and let out a contented sigh, "I love you, too."
