Lexi lurked near the back of the room until the podium went vacant, then she walked up and looked over the crowd gathered to mourn Lucy's passing. This was one of the few occasions anyone had seen Lexi in a dress in quite some time, and as she walked up the aisle, anybody who seemed to be staring at her a little too oddly caught a glare from her in response.
"My name's Lexi Wilson," she said, almost adding, and I'm an addict. "Lucy was a friend of mine, she was like a kid sister to me. Like I've been saying all week, this doesn't make any damn sense. No point in her being gone except that only the good die young. And she was pretty damn good.
"What I've been trying to learn for the past ... some time, is that there is a higher power and everything's part of their plan. This is a piece that doesn't fit. Maybe in time, it'll make sense to someone. For now, I just miss her."
