Arriving.
Who: Jon Marrokjonmarrok & Ash Marrokashmarrok
Where: Apartment 4-D
When: Moving day!
Jon: Los Angeles was a huge city compare to the small college town Jon and Ash had come from. But to say Jon was excited about the move, despite how scary it really was, would have been the understatement of the century. However, having his baby brother with him made it all the more frightful and wonderful. He would have his best friend with him on this new adventure they'd set out to experience but also the worry of making sure Ash was taken care of and protected.
U.C.L.A. had been Jon's college of choice and the campus was like a small city in itself. Luckily though, he was able to obtain a small off site apartment that he would be sharing with Ash and moving in day had arrived. With Jon's simple Honda Civic loaded down with their belongings, they pulled up in front of their new home, Jon turning to Ash with an excited grin plastered to his face.
"Well, here we are" he exclaimed, killing the engine that seemed all too relieved, practically sighing it seemed. "Our new home." Leaning forward, he managed to look out the front windshield and up at that tall three story apartment building, wondering exactly which window led to number 4-D.
Ash: Jon's excitement over this entire adventure was contagious and, despite the fact that Ash had spent their traveling time whining and bitching, he was really excited also. It was almost like starting a brand new life, the freedom away from pack life was calling to him, and having his big brother and best friend along with him meant more to him than anything.
He glanced out of his own window and upward, giving a little groan. "Fuck, we're gonna have to drag our shit up stairs, aren't we?" With that he popped his door open and slid from the car to prevent his brother from seeing the wicked grin on his face. Most of his complaining had only been to annoy Jon and he took every opportunity to do so.
He stretched, bones creaking out the time spent sitting in that tiny car, and then began dragging everything from the backseat.
Jon: "Afraid you'll break a nail or something?" retorted Jon with an arrogant chuckle.
He was keen to the ways of Ash seeing as the pair were inseparable most of the time back home. Ash annoyed Jon to get a rise out of him so that Jon would grow aggravated, though Jon could never stay mad at his brother. Though he didn't see the cocky grin, he knew what was up.
Climbing out after Ash, Jon quickly grabbed up his backpack full of his computer and other important belongings to sling it over his shoulders then snatched up the first box he came to. It was rather heavy being full of books and whatever other belongings the boys had, but thankfully, because of what he was (a werewolf) it wasn't as strenuous as it would be for a normal guy.
Ash: Ash was piling as many things into his arms as he could balance properly, probably too many things even for him having some extra strength on his side. He just wanted to get the moving part over with as quickly as possible so that they could get the unpacking part over as quickly as possible and then he could be lazy again.
"Yeah, just got them done too." He retorted back after a moment of delay, knocking the car door shut with his hip and juggling with the boxes in his arms. "What'll the LA folk think of me with chipped nails?" Sarcasm was heavy in his voice but this time he tossed the grin back so his brother could see it, pausing so Jon could take the lead. Ash really had no idea which apartment they were going to in the building.
Jon: Jon gawked at moment at the ungodly load Ash was attempting to carry. "If you break any of my shit by dropping that, I'm so kicking your ass" He gave the young boy a light pat on his rear and chuckled to show he was somewhat teasing with that statement before going on ahead up to the front entrance.
Everything from viewing the apartment to signing the lease for it had been done online so Jon wasn't at all familiar with the building. He just knew they were on the top floor. Though from the outside, the building was three stories, there were four all together with a basement level hidden underneath.
So Jon and Ash were going to have to walk up three flights of stairs. He looked to Ash then the boxes in his arms before he grabbed a couple and piled them with his own.
Ash: Ash opened his mouth to argue with his brother about taking the boxes, but the thought of three flights of stairs had admittedly been a little bit daunting with the heavy load he'd had. So he stopped the argument before it even happened, just smiling a little instead. "Thanks, bro." He murmured and then started the long trip up the stairs.
By the time they reached the top level Ash's breathing was heavy and his heart was pounding, leg muscles burning. It wasn't uncomfortable though, actually a bit of the opposite. He felt like he'd just been for a good long run. He had a smile on his face when he finally dumped the boxes from his arms in front of their door.
Jon: Number 4-D was located at the far end of the hallway, of course. Jon was barely breathing hard as he set his load down and fished the keys from his pocket. He glanced to Ash and lifted his brows quickly as if to ask the boy if he was ready. Before he got a response, he unlocked the door and pushed it open.
Revealed to them was a barren apartment with plain white walls, beige carpeting, and the smell of fresh pain and cleaning solvents. Jon's shoulders slumped in a sort of disappointment. The pictures he'd looked at online had furniture placed in the apartments and though he knew those items weren't included in the lease, he'd let it fool him into thinking there would be more. The disappointment showed on his face when his lips curled downward into a hard frown when he looked to Ash apologetically.
Ash: Ash was smiling at Jon's excitement but his own smile faltered when he saw the very sudden disappointment in his brother. "What?" He asked, peeking over Jon's shoulder to look into the apartment and then finally push his way inside.
He paused in the empty living room area, making a small turn to take it all in and then eyes fell back upon his brother in the doorway. "Whats the problem? This is great, Jon." He kept his excitement level up for the benefit of his brother. Yeah, it was a bit less than he'd been expecting too, but in no way was it bad. And he really hated seeing his brother disappointed. So he put a wide smile on his face, glanced around once more and dashed off to go check out the other rooms. "I claim this room in front!"
Jon: It did raise Jon's spirits to see Ash still fully excited as ever. His smile returned, along with a laugh at his brother's proclamation as he shook his head and moved to lean on that bedroom's door frame.
"That's fine." replied the older sibling, thumbing over his shoulder, "The other one has it's own bathroom." And with a cocky smirk, he spun on his heels rushing off to what would be his bedroom.
Ash: Ash cursed after his brother but it was all in good fun. He went to pop open the window in his room to let in some fresh air and then left again to go gather the boxes he'd dragged up the stairs.
Pulling them to the center of the living room, he first picked out whichever ones were his and then took them to his own room then grabbed up the one he had of Jon's and took it to his brother's new room. Dropping that one to the center of that room he glanced around to check it out. "These are good sized rooms." He commented. "We going furniture shopping soon?"
Jon: As if marking his territory in some subconscious manner, Jon used the toilet to empty his bladder and was just finishing up washing his hands when Ash entered the bedroom. "It's gonna have to be at the Goodwill or Salvation Army or something like that. Funds are tight. Tonight, we're sleeping on the floor actually. Probably until I start my job at the student center."
Ash: "I could start looking for work too. For after school..." He offered. Ash was usually far more keen on being lazy, or spending his time at the skate parks, anything other than school or work. This time he was truly interested in doing everything he needed to do to help his brother make this work for them.
He started back out to get more boxes from the car, checking over his shoulder to make sure Jon was following him.
Jon: The idea of Ash getting a job did sound good and it would help tremendously with things. But it worried Jon too. He could count on Ash being safe at school and at home but somewhere he wasn't he couldn't guarantee that.
"We'll discuss it over dinner" Jon replied as they headed back down the stairs to the car for more things.
