A Dead Ringer, Almost Who: Shiloh and Brennan(Open to continuation) Where: Avarice When: Friday, February 5 - Evening
It had been late, closing in on 8pm, by the time Shiloh left Full Moon Records, and rather then head to her new, barely furnished apartment the blonde chose to stop at Avarice to check the club out and have a drink or two. Maybe she'd even get lucky and run into Baily, the girl who she crossed paths with at the diner on her first day in the city, and who just happened to now be her neighbor. When she arrived at the club Shiloh found herself a seat at the bar and ordered herself an appletini, then shifted on her stool to let her gaze float out across the floor of the place as the music pulsed and vibrated through the room.
Brennan had already been sitting at the bar, half a glass of jack and coke in front of him, untouched. His gaze was trained on the glass, but it was clear from his body language and features that he wasn't seeing said glass. The lycan was lost completely in thought with his elbow resting atop the counter, the heel of his hand supporting the side of his head. Honestly, why on Earth Brennan was even at Avarice was probably a mystery to all, but in reality, he was hoping to catch Brandon and talk to him.
Shiloh took a sip of her drink then caught the attention of the guy working behind the bar. Once he made his way over the blonde made an inquiry as to if a certain employee was working that night. "Could you tell me if Baily Bale's going to be DJing tonight.?" The inquiry made with a soft smile as being friendly, especially to guys, had a way of persuading a person to divulge something then say, giving attitude to gain info.
No matter what the din in any establishment, Brennan would know and recognize her voice anywhere. The inquiry brought the lycan out of his thoughts, his attention quickly snapping into focus even as his gaze started wandering up and down the bar intensely. And there she was, a few seats down asking the bartender about his cousin, Baily. To Brennan, the cacophony of noise in the club quieted, the interior growing dimmer until all he could see was her and during that seemingly endless moment...the werewolf finally thought he'd completely lost it.
You know that feeling you get, the one that makes the hairs at the back of your neck rise up. The feeling that a pair of eyes are focused on you. Well that was the feeling that crept slowly through Shiloh after a moment of being scrutinized by the guy sitting a few stools down from where she was. Lifting a hand to rub lightly at the raised hairs on the nape of her neck Shiloh ever so casually tilted her head toward one side to glance down the length of the bar til her eyes caught those of the dark haired stranger who had been staring down in her direction. A brief soft smile was given to the man before Shiloh turned her head back to face forward to take a sip of her drink having completely missed any answer the tender may have provided her as to whether or not Baily was working that evening.
Brennan was sure he almost fell off the bar stool when her gaze focused in his direction. He knew that his heart stopped for the briefest of seconds when she smiled at him and the lycan continued to stare at her even when she looked away again. After the initial shock wore off, Brennan noticed one important thing that had him thinking he was less crazy than he thought. While for all intents and purposes, the woman sitting a few stools down could've been Laurie's twin...except for the blond hair. Finally, Brennan turned his gaze forward to stare confusingly at himself in the bar's mirror. Laurie was dead...right? Gulping, Brennan lifted his glass of jack and coke, downing the rest of the contents before catching the bartender's attention and ordered another.
"Excuse me." Shiloh said softly leaning over slightly across the now empty stool beside her to try and get the guy's attention. "Could you slide the peanuts down this way." The small bowl of nuts was beyond her reach and Shi really wasn't wanting to get off her stool to walk those few short paces to get it herself. Besides the guy was good looking and talking to someone sure beat the hell out of sitting alone quietly.
At first it didn't seem like Brennan was going to do anything. The werewolf glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, knowing full well the blond was speaking to him. A muscle twitched in his jaw before the back of his hand pushed the little bowl toward her. His gaze finally turned to hers and Brennan couldn't help but search of some, any, sign of Lauren in there.
"Thanks," Shiloh smiled appreciatively to the guy when he edged the bowl across the counter toward her, and when his eyes caught hers in that moment Shi couldn't help but let hers linger to his. There was something there, something he seemed to be looking for. It could be why Shiloh did what she did next. Something that was probably unexpected by both of them.
"I'm Shiloh." The blonde introduced herself with the offering of her hand to the guy.
The lycan hesitated before taking the woman's hand. Brennan wondered if this was all some very vivid dream he was having instead of actually sitting in Avarice about to introduce himself to what could virtually be the clone of his recently deceased mate. His heart was pounding in his chest and it was a little difficult to breathe, yet he seemed to get out, "...Brennan."
"Nice to meet you, Brennan." Shiloh returned as that was the proper response when meeting a person for the first time, wasn't it? The blonde's hand slipped smoothly from the man's after they shook hands with Shi reaching for her drink to take a sip then shifting a bit on her stool so she sat a bit sideways to give her a clearer view of the man should he chose to keep up what little conversation they had going. Introductions had been a start, hadn't it.
