Who: Shiloh and Paige Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack When: Sunday Morning - January 24th
With a large cup of black coffee just off to her side Shiloh sat at one of the tables inside the Sugar Shack glancing over the apartments for rent section of the morning newspaper. Thanks to her run in with Baily Bale toward the end of last week and the job lead she had gotten from the girl, Shiloh now had a job, and with that would come a steady cash flow. And with money soon to be coming in starting with her first paycheck the blonde was able to start a search for a more permanent place to live. The hotel she was presently staying at was fine, but it was only intended to be for the short term, and really Shi was wanting a place to call her own. A place that she could decorate as she wished and at her leisure. Hopefully her luck would continue and Shiloh would find a place to her liking by the end of the week. Sure the first month's rent and security deposit would eat up most of her available funds, but with the blonde now having a paying job she was hopeful that she'd be able to start saving again. Which reminded her to make a mental note to get an account set up at one of the banks within the city.
Meanwhile, and no, we don't know HOW yet, the Sugar Shack had become the new favorite eatery of Paige Bennett. Possibly it was the fact that she realized she could now eat all she wanted and not gain a pound.
Regardless, the former guitarist sauntered in for her daily dose of sweetness, wearing a pair of light blue jeans torn at the knees and a green hoodie, worn unzipped over a skintight white tank.
Shiloh, like many others, had the habitual action of glancing toward the entrance when hearing the sound of the door being open when seated in a public place such as the Sugar Shack. Giving the woman just the briefest of glances as she sauntered in Shiloh returned her attention back to the paper spread out in front of her after reaching for her coffee to take a sip of the steaming brew. Thus far only two possibilities had sprung out at the blonde as possible living accommodations and were circled in ink, but Shi wanted to expand her options, which was why the blonde was giving the section of the morning paper another glance over.
As Paige was given her order, she gave a polite, yet somehow still vampy smile to the redhead who'd given it to her. "Thanks, Mouse. Remember to put that ad up for me, ok? Thanks honey." Paige hated the idea of having to possibly rent out half of her home to a roommate, but being a 'justice demon' didn't exactly keep the bills paid. Mostly she got by on the money she lifted from scumbags she killed.
The second glance over the newspaper ads didn't give Shiloh any further possible leads on apartments for rents so the blonde, with a soft sigh of frustration, folded the paper back up and stuffed in into her back before collecting her cup of coffee as she pushed back her chair to stand. Shouldering her bag Shi made tracks to the counter to get a couple chocolate bars to take back to the hotel just as Paige was given her order.
Paige saw the blonde approaching, and the raven-haired vixen gracefully moved out of the way to allow her access to the counter. "Now... you look like someone who desperately NEEDS chocolate, honey."
"Is it that obvious?" Shiloh questioned back after the blonde spoke her opinion. Sure she might like chocolate once in a while, but Shi didn't think she had the look of one desperate to get an infusion of the dark sweetness.
"Babe? You look stressed beyond belief. Thus? Chocolate. I can relate." She motioned with a hand to the latte and chocolate muffin she had in front of her.
"I think you're mistaking a look of mild frustration with one of overly stressed." Shiloh said with smile as she placed of a couple chocolate bars on the counter for purchase. And really there wasn't anything that was stressing the blonde out about. Being frustrated with the limited possibilities of a place to call home, sure, but gettting overly stressed with finding a suitable place to live, not even close.
"Well. Stress, frustration... whatever. What's yer name, sweetie?" Paige never thought she'd see the day she was this damned friendly, but hell... she had to admit... she kind of liked it. Not being hated by everyone was kind of cool, actually.
"Shiloh." The blonde answered with an internal roll of her eyes as being referred to as sweetie. Shi hated those monikers. Sweetie, babe, honey, etc. Especially when they came from people she didn't know or barely knew. But with Paige being friendly and all toward her the blonde had managed to refrain from saying anything. "And you are?" Asking as she tossed money down on the counter for the two chocolate bars, which quickly found their way into Shi's bag.
"Paige. Paige Bennett. Don't mind me being all in-your-face here, I'm just kind of wired, and trying to get the energy to put flyers all over town." She laughed, the sound like bells in a way.
"It's amazing what motivation lack of money can be."
"Promoting yourself?" Shiloh asked casually before taking a drink of her coffee. There could be loads of reasons why the girl was putting flyers up all over the city, Shiloh just went with the first logical one that popped into her head.
"Noooo... nothing like that. I used to play guitar, but... that's all behind me now. No... I'm kinda drowning, money-wise, so I'm having to swallow my pride and try to find a roommate that I won't want to kill within weeks."
While she laughed in that vampish way as she said it... sadly she MEANT it. Even someone trying to redeem themself only had so much patience.
"You got a flyer left?" Shiloh asked after hearing the girl was looking for a roomie. Not that she was looking to take the first place that came her way, Shiloh had, after all, found a couple possible apartments in the morning paper. She was just wanting to cover all bases to see which place she could picture herself living in.
"Yeah, I do... here you go." Ugh. Paige felt at about the lowest rung of her personal dignity ladder here. Formerly an up-and-coming guitarist poised for stardom... now a demon who was almost broke and needed to advertise for a ROOMMATE. How fate can laugh at you, hm?
"If you know anyone who's interested or anything... you know... have 'em hit me up."
"Well do." Shiloh said as she accepted the flyer from the girl giving it the briefest glance over before it was tucked away into her bag. "I'm sure you'll find a roommate soon enough. It was nice meeting you, Paige." Shi added before she turned to start making her way toward the door.
"Yeah, ditto, babe." Paige said with some forced sweetness. Not that she was upset, or didn't like the girl... she just hated feeling so... dependent on others. "So. Time to sit down, eat my muffin, and lose myself in chocolatey goodness."
