WHO: Lexi OT Ginny
WHEN: Sunday evening
WHERE: Avarice
Lexi was hanging out at Avarice, drinking Coke and going over a set list in her notebook. She wasn't quite in the holiday spirit yet; she had a few ideas in mind, for gifts, but hadn't bought anything yet.
Ginny, meanwhile, was pretty much NOT a Christmas person. Sure, she went through the motions: gifts, being nice, etc. But she had never really... felt happy enough to want to celebrate. But this year she felt different. She wasn't religious, not in the least, but she wanted that warmth, that love in the air, that most felt at the holidays. Mostly because for once she really WAS happy. Walking into the club, she waved to the few people she knew personally, and made a beeline for Lexi. She really wanted to just see the girl, even if she was busy. Not bother or disturb her... no, she'd be happy just looking at her. Dressed in a long black curve-hugging dress with plunging neckline and (as usual) elbow-length gloves, she smiled as she approached, just watching Lexi think.
Lexi looked up from her notebook, did a doubletake and grinned. "Hi, babe!" She stepped off the barstool and gave Ginny a big hug. "Mm ... nice dress. How're you?"
"Oh, I'm good, other than the fact that drama seems to find me even when curl up in a ball and TRY to hide from it." She snickered though, rolling her eyes as if accepting her fate as a drama magnet.
"Ah, damn, whose ass do I have to kick now?"
"Well... I just found out my band has yet ANOTHER connection to Suicide Messiah, and once again it's thanks to my bass player..." She snorted, loving Irene but wondering if she had a talent for picking ALL the wrong people. "As you may remember... her last squeeze was Chloe Van Warren's brother."
Lexi grinned. "You guys should just merge into one ... great big ... Suicide Van Lazarus, or something. What's the new connection?"
"Yeah. Try this one on for size." She sighed, bracing herself. "Seems Irene has a new friend. One she's casually dating. One that was MARRIED to one Skylar James until recently."
Lexi laughed and shook her head. "How does this keep happening? Is our scene really that small and incestuous? ... I guess it must be."
"On the bright side, I've never sexed up anyone in that band." Then, after thinking for a moment, she burst out into giggles. "Oh GOD. YOU USED TO BE IN IT."
"Thereby closing the circle. Or hexagon, or something. Sexagon?"
"Sex being the operative word, really. So, I didn't interupt you, did I? You looked pretty busy when I came in..." She caught a guy eyeing her up, and actually spun her head to the side and growled at him, her face contorting into an almost scary snarl as he blinked and scampered off. Despite her sweet nature, Ginny was still a big-time man-hater.
"I'm glad you're on my team," Lexi said. " ... anyway, no, I was just going over set lists, making sure I don't launch into the wrong song at the wrong time. DId I mention, that's an awesome dress?" She resettled on her stool, giving Ginny a flirty smile.
"Yes. You did. Not that I mind multiple mentions of it. And wait until you see the dress I picked out for your friend's Christmas party." Hey, if she was going to something at the Van Warren house, she knew she had to look GOOD.
"I can hardly wait," Lexi said. The party itself sounded fun ... there would be a lot of people there she wanetd to see. But there would be a lot of temptation there, as well ... and she was used to handling that, but it would be a lot of it, all at one time.
"You know I try to tell you this at least once a day..." and she really did. The sweetest part was, she MEANT it. Every time. "But I'm proud of you. For being so strong, so avoiding all the things you know can hurt you. For being able to even BE in a place like this. You're stronger than you know."
"It's hard to do," Lexi said. "It really is. And sometimes, I don't feel like I'm as strong as I should be. People around here are fine, everyone knows what's up and is cool about it. I just worry what'll happen if, like, I'm on the road and some jackass offers me something when I'm in a bad mood or half-asleep or something."
"That's why you have friends. People who love you." She felt confident saying this. "You think Patrick would let you fall like that? Or even in your side project... you think ANY of the Van Warrens would let it happen?"
"It's not ... I know this," Lexi said. "But it's not always enough to have someone supporting you. Sometimes things ... just ... happen. I try to hold onto as much control as I can, and to have faith in whatever higher power there may be that I won't slip and fall. But I still worry, sometimes."
